30 Day Weight-loss Challenge

Day 30: CONGRATULATIONS! You did it!! What are your current stats NOW? Share your thoughts about this challenge and if you are feeling brave, post your before and after pictures :)

I don’t have any before and after pics, didn’t think to take any...oops. My stats are actually the same. Nothing much changed, I was able to not gain weight though, so that made me happy, because I was worried there for a bit. I’m just going to to continue with eating in, getting sleep, and working hard to achieve my goals. There will be more updates on progress as I go along...PROMISE!

Day 29: You’ve practically made it to the end of this fast, how do you feel? What are you most proud of that you did (or didn’t do) during this challenge? What have you learned during this challenge? What did you find most challenging? What are some new goals you have set for the future?

I’m proud that I was more consistent than the previous month, especially with not eating out as much. I found staying focused was the most challenging. I have been having a hard time since I have been stressing out my moving/living situation. Hopefully that will clear up and I can focus more on the gym and other healthy things.

The goals I have set for myself is to continue to not eat out as much and save money. I need to go to the gym more. I also need to take my meds consistently...kinda been slacking on that.

Day 28: How important is it to you to reach your ultimate goal weight? Why is it important to you?

1. Its pretty important, but I won’t die if I don’t get there exactly. I’m goal oriented so, getting there is kinda a big deal.

Day 27: Is there a certain special event that you are trying to lose weight for? Ex: summer, a wedding, a vacation etc. If so, why do you want to lose weight for it?

I don’t have any specific event or anything, just doing this on my own time.

Day 25: What is your greatest weakness when dieting? Ex: eating out, eating in the evening, eating while watching TV etc. How have you controlled this during the challenge and how do you plan on continuing to control it for life?

My greatest weakness is going out eating with my roommies. I don’t want to be left out when they go out, so I join and eat some not-so-great choices. Lately I have been telling them I’m saving money (which I am not lying) and trying to be more conservative. They have been very understanding about this and I haven’t had a hard time resisting the temptations. I plan to continue to keep from going out often. Just going when I really want to go somewhere special. Mainly for an occasion, not “just because” I can.

Day 24: How many times a day do you think about losing weight? Do feel as though it consumes a lot of your thoughts? If so, why do you think that is? What events led to it becoming an obsession? If not, how often do you think about it?

I think about losing weight every morning. Some days it is daunting and I feel discouraged, but some times I have a more positive outlook on the day. Kinda depends on my mood. Its not a obsession, just something that I want to keep aware.

Day 23: Has anyone ever called you fat, too thin or said anything negative about your weight? If so, what did they say, who was it (no names - just friend, family member, BF or GF)? How did that make you feel? Did it discourage you from changing your weight or motivate you to change it? 

No one really has called me fat. Thank God. My aunt said I was getting chunky once, but that didn’t bother me that much. I’m thankful that I have a great support system and don’t have negative people around. They motivate me to achieve my goals than discourage me.

Day 22: What will be your favorite part about reaching your goal weight? Ex: wearing a swim suit, showing off to others, buying new clothes. 

Being able to do more activities. More of everything (running, hiking, swimming). I also would like to be more flexible. Of course buying new clothes is high on my list too. I love clothes! And I’m sure my wardrobe will only increase as I lose. That’s because my reward for getting to a smaller victory is to buy something new. But I do try to take something out of my wardrobe (but sometimes it’s hard to let go) that I no longer wear. You know it’s a “out with the old, in with the new” kinda thing. Same goes for my weight...I’m ready for the new!

Day 21: (Week 3! You are so close to the end!) Have you ever lost weight and then gained it back? If so, when did this happen, how much did you lose and how much did you gain? Why did that happen? What caused you to fall off the band wagon and re-gain the weight you had lost? 

Yes, many of times. This happened several times after college. I would have this loop of losing, plateau, then gain it back...plus more. I would get frustrated when I stopped losing and eventually give up. Because I was discouraged I just went back to my old habits.

This time when I stop losing, I will change things up to kick start the weight loss again.

Day 20: Have you ever lost weight before and succeeded at reaching your goals? If so, why do you think that you succeeded? What was it that finally changed making it so that you succeeded?

I can’t say that I have succeed, but I definitely saw results. I would get to my first goal and then plateau which made me frustrated and discouraged. Changing my mindset has been hard. I’m trying to be more positive about my body and not shame myself. Instead, loving my body that is in progress. I don’t want to compare myself with others, I want the body that is best for me.

Day 19: Have you ever begun a diet and failed? If so, why do you think that you failed? What caused you to give up and not reach your goal? If not, wow congratulations! You’re a boss! Proudly brag about your having never failed a diet ;) 

I tried to go low-carb before. I think I was too agressive about cutting the carbs. I didn’t gradually decreased them, I was going cold turkey. Eventually I would get tired of not have some of my favorite foods and deprived myself. This would ultimately make me give up.

I am doing low-carb right now, but I’m easing into it. I know if I cut it down too much too fast I will want high carb food even more. This time it will be a success! This time it will not be a diet, but a lifestyle change.
