Core values and challenges

Through discussion we arrived at some underlying themes and challenges that we will be using to align and interrogate our process going forwards:

How do we abolish binary thinking? 

We need to ensure we are not proposing or underestimating existing/new binaries in our conception of the intelligent city.

Binaries such as Material//Immaterial and Values//Transactions

How do we ensure equality in the system?

How can we decentralise the organising systems at the heart of an intelligent city?

How do we shift social paradigms?

How could we reduce human population density?

How do we eradicate late stage capitalism?

How do we dehumanise [the intelligent city]?

How do we give power to animals and natural processes?

How do we differentiate between e.g. humans and non-human, different types of non-human?

This blog is to document the ‘Designing the Intersectional’ workshop.

Our challenge was to think about the ‘Intelligent City’ - what that means, what it could mean, the challenges associated with it and how we would design it.

Through ideation and prioritisation, we arrived at three core challenges:
