mcuntainbcrn:
“I wonder when, if any of them, have ever achieved that particular end, it finally dawned on them that their foolish wish isn’t a blessing but a curse…how long did it take, I wonder…not that it really bears much thinking about…I’m sure that reality struck them rather roundly about the face in time.” a cheek found itself pillowed against her palm, a rather noisy sigh escaping her, “…it was never anything I ever desired - quite the opposite really, and I almost succeeded…heh…fate really does have a rather cruel sense of irony.”
She really shouldn’t be entertaining this - call it a whim, or an impulse…his energy was quite unique, even if the voice wasn’t a dead giveaway that he was far older than his outward appearance would have one believe; it was the same for her, no doubt…not that she bothered to check; even now, she did everything in her power to avoid catching sight of her own reflection, to fully take in the wretch she had become after hundreds, if not thousands of years.
“I suppose…I can’t say I’ve seen or borne witness to much - I’ve almost always been one to keep to myself, avoid crossing paths with others; the treacherous nature of the areas I tend to frequent are usually enough to deter visitors…not you though…and certainly not your ‘ever so kind and gracious headmage’ - no matter where I happen to sequester myself.”
It was faint, and if you weren’t paying attention it would have been easily missed considering the lack of emotion on her face, but for an instant there was mild irritation in her voice; she watched the fae gather one of the summons out of the air, “You’re free to do as you wish - I don’t particularly mind, provided there is at least a chance of keeping him out of my hair a touch…all I can say is he must be desperate, trying to recruit not only an unaffiliated third party, but someone who clearly doesn’t meet the clearly articulated requirements for his institution.”
A light flick of her fingertips and the disperse leaflets were gathered from where they had cascaded outwards over the landscape, roots and tubers drawing them back to tidy the mountainside from the deluge of litter, “…and in such a wasteful fashion, no less.”
“I doubt anyone has ever reached true immortality, they may have extended their live but as soon as the curse has dawned on them, they would find a way to undo themselves. Though I have to say I would love to see the face of one that has managed to make themselves immortal once they realize that there is no easy way out anymore.”
It did felt a bit odd talking about this topic, not because he couldn’t talk about it being practically immortal himself, but it seemed like in contrast to him Maggies immortality was not something she was preferred for or wanted. Now Lilia himself wasn’t exactly asked if he wanted to be immortal, but growing up around other faes made it easier since death was not a real thing. That and he could technically could die even though it was unlikely and quite difficult to accomplish.
“Well you see after so many years alive there is really nothing that shocks me anymore and what others call dangerous is an inviting change for me. I do have to say that I am quite surprised at how fun school live has been. Then again putting so many people which so vastly different views together guarantees at least some form of entertainment.”
“I know you aren’t fond of people but if you ever wanted some amusement I would highly recommend sitting on the roof and just watching, you will be amazed by what you will see.”
Tilting his head again Lilia did make a mental note to really talk with the head mage about this. Mostly since he didn’t want Crowley’s continuous visits driving Maggie away, it was so rare he met somebody this interesting and it would be a shame to lose her so soon. “I will definitely have a talk with him, I can’t promise he will listen, though people say I can be quite persuasive.” he said chuckling.
“Ah yes it is quite the waste, especially since up here I doubt you have a way to recycle” he hummed out, catching one of the papers before it could return fully. “Your fond of Origami, per chance?” he said, folding the paper into a rose surprisingly quickly.
“It’s quite calming!”
“So who wants to tell me what I have missed while I was busy?”

mcuntainbcrn:
“Fortunately for you, you haven’t strummed on my nerves enough to make me prickly quite yet - I tend to get a touch violet when I’m angry…one might even call my temper volcanic.” she could feel him peering at her face a bit probingly and unconsciously moved to allow her hair to spill back over it; not that she suspected him to have any ties to those who had begun the domino effect that had led her to such a wretched existence, but one could never be too careful.
Her gaze trailed back to the sheer drop of the cliff face she perched upon, fingertips idly tracing along the woody surface the acacia vines that coiled about her, skating along the thick thorns, “I have never understood the pursuit of eternity - what joy could anyone hope to achieve watching everyone they love, and everything they knew slowly erode away around them, while they are left behind, completely unchanged?”
It was faint, a mere glimmer in shaded, mismatched eyes that vanished as quickly as it appeared - very obvious bitterness, “In all truth, I must say, in that sense, I rather envy mortals - it must be nice…to be able to die.” a gust of cold wind wrapped around her, taking a slow deep breath, allowing the chill to cool her insides - there was just no point in dwelling on it, considering she had quite literally tried everything she could conceive of, “But such things aren’t the best topic of conversation.”
She slowly uncurled, a light click of her tongue leaving her as subject shifted, unable to stop her eyes from rolling and, unbeknownst to her, her ears from pinning back, “He has, yes…on many an occasion, and when not himself, one of his many avian envoys, littering the mountainside with special summons - apparently there’s some issue or another he believes I can offer assistance with to rectify; the issue being, I’ve no desire to do anything of the sort, and after a few centuries, it really begins to toy with one’s nerves.”
As if to prove her point, she shifted back in her seat, lifting a hand and rapping her knuckles back against the stone beside her head, a boulder shifting aside and a veritable geyser of papers bearing the college crest fluttered out into the open air, “He has yet to take the hint to leaf me alone.”
Tilting his head, Lilia would have been fine with going on with the pun talk before leaving her alone before she got to mad, but it seemed like he had found a topic they could talk about.
“I wish I could answer that questions but even after so many years of being around mortals of all different kinds I have never gotten a real answer. It’s also equal parts frustrating and fascinating how even after explaining how living forever is not a blessing but a curse, almost all of them still hold on to their belief. Nothing you can say to them would convince them, being too absorbed in their own fantasy world and too self-centered to see the impacts something like this could have.”
“I have stopped talking to mortals about this since it only runs in circles, especially after they learn of my own lifespan. To most people, saying ‘you get to be immortal so why not me?’ is a comeback to anything you try and tell them.” Shrugging, still sitting in the air as he talked. “But I agree it is not the best topic of conversation, though a quite interesting one if done with a person that understands.”
While he was a bit surprised to hear that Crowley had searched the other out, not knowing of any problem that he would need help with. Getting quite amused by the display of the many papers flying around, starting to litter the mountain around them. The display getting a chuckle out of him “Well who knew or ever so kind and gracious headmage could be so persistent.”
A mischievous grin coming to his face as Lilia caught one of the papers “Oh I can not wait to use this, I’m sure I can use this as a free pass a few times” chuckling again the Fae would defiantly use this to at least get some fun out of the headmage. “Though if you want I can have a chat with him, maybe he will be more inclined to listen to me since he clearly seems to go deaf when it comes to you.”
what crystal are you?
Black tourmaline
You have a strength to you that has been hard earned. You don't hesitate to cut out the parts of you you despise, you're unafraid to call out others. Your bluntness can off-put people at times, but you're unwilling to compromise your personal code. Once your loyalty has been earned, it is not easily shaken. You're a protector, and you purge away anything you believe could harm you or those you love. When was the last time you relaxed, though? When was the last time you let down your guard? There is just as much strength in vulnerability.

when the other moved from him, Chenya’s eyes flickered and stayed locked. head tilting just a bit. body moving again so he was more able to roll his lanky form off of the table he had been positioned on. body moving and twisting before he was standing straight up hands behind his back as he walked now moving in front of the other. hands behind his back. walking in long strides.
“ rules and madness always need a strict balance. “ he said as he tilted his head, “ but what are rules but mere suggestions to be broken. “ he tilted his head the opposite way. ears twitching a bit. “ My name is so boringly long and rather an unfun tongue sore, but I can give you a name people decide to call me with. Chenya is what I am called. “ he paused his walking. back arching a bit as his tail twitched up.
“ giving me your’s would be rather nice as well wouldn’t it be? that way I know how to address you. “
“As long as the people breaking the rules know how to deal with the consequences” he said, shrugging. Lilia himself was not a person that always stuck to rules, but often instead of out right breaking them he used their often vague wording to bend them to what he needed.
In truth, the Fae already knew the other's name, but there was a big difference between knowing a name and having the name of another. Though again most people here knew not to give away their name even if they thought they were talking to a human, which Lilia clearly wasn’t.
“Chenya” he let role off his tongue chuckling right after “A lovely name you can call me Lilia”
“So I will assume that even you know that you aren’t human, but what do you think you are?”

“Lilia … well, I’m used to the long distances. I’m usually traveling on foot,” The answer was still just as direct as before. A blink, and quirking of her brow. Noticing that his expression fell when she answered his first question. Did she saw something that threw him off that much? Perking up when he mentioned the danger. Oh! That must be what he was worried about!
“I’m used to traversing long distances on foot. Navigation isn’t really an issue either … You get used to the fo — oor – !!” Stumbling over both of her words and her feet as she was tugged along. The grip, while not hurting her, was surprisingly strong. Fluttering her eyes. And, when she fully processed what was going on – started babbling,
“I can rest out here in the woods! I know I look really clean but that’s just because I know where to find the rivers and lakes – just bathe there, you know? I’m used to being out here! I can gather and trap just fine!” Not realizing she was probably digging herself a deeper hole by more or less telling this faerie that she was living out in the wild by herself. Wait! Maybe she could explain –
“I’m not alone! I have Fenrir and the Spirits to help me out! Sure, I can’t understand what the plants are saying to me … but I can understand the annn … iii … ”
Her voice trailed off. Sure, she was following him ( not like she had much of a choice with the grip on her wrist ) – but at the way she was able to look down and the back of his head: she noticed the ears of his. The breath of hers hitched, and didn’t know quite what to say at first. The free hand, the one with her staff, clenched and relaxed as she moved,
“You’re … not human, either – “ A beat, “ – are you … ? That’s … that’s why you’re worried,”
Happily dragging the other along, the fae was not acting just out of compassion, though he couldn’t deny that the other seeming quite helpless made him worry about her safety. Lilia was a father after all and he would never let anyone in his care get hurt and technically owning the other's name he owned part of her, so this was also keeping a new possession save.
Getting more and more determined about taking Emilia with her the more she gave away about how she had apparently been living in the woods for a while. Slowing down a bit at the mention of Spirits, the fae didn’t stop walking just yet still wanting to get out of the woods before talking about all of this.
Though once she finally realized that he was not a human, Lilia did stop turning around to look at her. “So you noticed?” he said chuckling.
“I am not human no, though I will leave it up to you to figure out or guess, whichever you find more thrilling, what I truly am. If you get it right in under three guesses, I will take you out for some ice cream”
“But still me being human or not doesn’t change the fact that you shouldn’t stay all alone in the woods. I don’t see any Nature spirits now and they didn’t seem to care when I came close to you so they don’t take good enough care of you”

“Don’t wanna.” Ah– it appears he was already getting himself dragged along by Ortho. A power pull he hadn’t the strength to resist even if he tried. Meanwhile, Ortho chirped excitedly as he found this to be the perfect opportunity for Idia to get some sunlight. “It’ll only be for a little while. Besides, since you’re already out here, it’ll be convenient. We’ll stop somewhere on the way back to the dorm!”
“Now I really don’t wanna–”
Getting quite amused by the other's reaction, Lilia knew that Idia preferred to be left alone but even he needed to come out of his room and socialize. “Now, now you are acting like the world is going to end if you spent some time outside” chuckling as he started to walk along.
“How about we just grab something to eat?”
ignitism:
“Hh– he wasn’t standing in a faerie circle– we were testing the new mid-air maneuvers I made for him and you snatched him out of the sky! Then went on a side quest around campus for like six hours!” Despite Idia’s protective nature, however, Ortho appeared to be perfectly fine if not in a brilliant mood.
“It wasn’t that bad, brother! You should’ve come with us. It was fun!” Ortho, please, he nearly had a heart attack.
“Has it really been six hours already? Oh, how the time flies when you are having fun” chuckling, completely ignoring most of the points the other had brought up. Lilia really only had been bored and when he saw Ortho flying around he saw his chance to spice up his day.
“What a wonderful idea! Why don’t you join us? We can all have fun together”
“We are arguing the semantics of kidnapping children — !!” Granted, she was sure she wasn’t against taking away the child of a god awful parent. They deserve better.
“Is it really kidnapping if you give them something in return?”
@asimplemulti: "I mean, you aren't wrong.."
“Of course I am right” he says while patting the other on the head floating up to do so.
