about the artist

greetings! my name is sonya (they/he). i am a 21 year old traditional/analog collage artist (amongst other things) from russia, currently based in moscow. this is my sideblog. for my more personal, fandom-driven main, visit @bluesonthemoon.

please do not ask any invasive questions or attack me based on my location. i do not have the means to leave. this sideblog is only for my art. some of it happens to be political or otherwise telling where i stand on some issues.

about the blog

malenkibukvi (маленькие буквы, or little letters) is a collage project that officially began on december 27, 2023. it started out as a telegram channel, now i also use this sideblog to share my art. this is mostly an archive of past works.

about the art

i've been doing collage since i knew how to cut things out of magazines and catalogs. these days it's just a little more serious. i use collage as a way to express myself and create little glimpses of storytelling about the world around me and inside of me.

most of the paper materials are provided to me for free by my workplace. most often i use vintage and modern magazines and my canvases are pieces of cardboard packaging. i DO NOT use any digital tools aside from adding watermarks and i do not use AI. i am sctrictly against AI in art and i do not permit anyone to use my works to train AI.

i make merch, more specifically keychains and pins. if you happen to be in moscow or in russia in general, you can learn more in my telegram channel under the same handle.

this is kind of about a lot of stuff at the same time, and it took a while for this collage to get its meaning. it's one of my favorite works now.

it's about me being a boy in a not-so-boy-looking body sometimes. liking girls but never enough for them to notice me sometimes. feeling infantilized because of my sexual and romantic identity... all the times. it represents me as someone who can show some body parts with confidence but never the face. a chronic daydreamer, a yearner for something i can't name. i wish i felt loved. i'm not even pitied, i'm unseen
