 "Hermione woke up that morning feeling her heart beat too fast for her liking, of course that the fact that her old enemy and new admire Draco Malfoy had invited her to the Yule Ball had nothing to do with it. She knew her friends weren’t loving the idea of it, but for the first time in years, she wanted to be selfish. Harry was going with Cho (which she hated), and Ron was bringing Lavender. She thought with herself why the three of them picked pairs that the friends hated, in this case, she still won, because it seemed that the only person the boys could hate more than Malfoy, was his father.

One of the house elfs, (that normally stayed in the kitchen and runaway of her, specially if she wanted to talk about S.P.E.W), tapped her shoulder and starting to say with an apology, that someone asked her to bring “Missus Gramione” a gift, she thanked the house elf that lef only seconds after, and walked to the box shower to start to get ready, was about time, since she spent the day thinking abou everything.

 After a long and revigorating shower, she walked to her bed and opened the fancy looking box, curious about the gift. She saw a beautiful gauze and satin pink dres, and she was delighted with what she saw. She put it on and while the top would embrace her chest, making it look a bit bigger, the skirt will fell into layers of very thin and smooth gauze,in different shades of pink, and a very delicate black belt,  on the box, layed a white parchmente with the malfoy crest in an emerald green: 

“I don’t tolerate delays, I thought I needed to make sure you would be dresses properly, dont wait too long to start to get ready, you need to look pretty.

I love how you look in pink, why haven’t you sent me an owl this whole day?

D.”

She didn’t understood how her stomach seemed to have butterflies giving flips inside, or how could Draco be so rude and kind of sweet at the same time, and after finish what she thought to be the 10th time reading it, she smiled to herself and knew, that going to the ball with Draco Malfoy, was the best decision she made. She was brilliant, smart and full of pride. She had found her perfect match!”

When the wind blows

It sings songs of your beauty

Hermione slammed the door with a fierce bang. Heads curiously craned from the cubicles at the source, only to find their boss storm out of her office.

That’s all I hear

In a world full of idle noise

They wondered what that was about, but they eventually shrugged it off. The day was too special and too beautiful to let an unusually ill-tempered boss become a hindrance for a good time.

How sweet

Are the smiles you shoot my way!

Piercing my heart…

Ugh, she inwardly groaned, her eyes rolling to the back of her head.

Hermione’s legs carried her away from her poetry infested department.

The Ministry should have Valentine’s Howlers banned.

It’s that time of the year again. Valentine’s Day. She wanted to avoid all of it - the red and pink motif, the sweet things littering the halls, the corny poetry with the damnedest lines at every corner.

There were two kinds of people in the world: the people who can tolerate Valentine’s Day and the people who can’t. It was obvious what classification she belonged to.

She ended up sulking in the bowels of the Department of Mysteries, smoking in the DoM employee exclusive archive.

Not only was it an isolated location to sulk in, but it also contained the oldest and restricted wizarding texts in the wizarding world. She supposed being in the presence of history comforted her.

History. Hermione chuckled wryly.

I’m just like you.

She lightly brushed her finger across a random scroll written in ancient runes.

Just another part of a man’s history.

“Not very ladylike of you to smoke, Granger.”

Hermione turned her head sharply. Draco Malfoy stood by the door in all his ferret-y glory, blond eyebrow raised.

“You’re not supposed to be here.”

“What are you going to do, Malfoy? Report me?” She blew a smoke just to spite him. Not very mature of her, but she earned the right to be miserable and immature.

Draco’s lip curled in distaste. “Kingsley will just take your side,” he started.

Hermione smirked. Predictable, Malfoy starting with a whiny rant.

“You’re aware smoking in proximity to highly flammable objects is dangerous, right?” Draco gestured to the shelves of scrolls and manuscripts lining almost every inch of the archive.

Hermione rolled her eyes. Malfoy got her there.

It was his turn to smirk. He shrugged, “Just reminding you, these things are like firewood.”

“I assist the department study and archive them, Malfoy. I can easily rewrite each and every one!” Hermione’s face reddened, her exasperation slowly peeking out. She wandlessly extinguished the flame of her cigarette.

She bumped past Malfoy on her way out.

He grabbed her by the elbow. “Stop. I’m just messing with you.”

“What?”

“There are enchantments preventing anyone from getting these burned to crisps.”

She regarded him and his casual chuckle warily.

“Want another one?” He offered her another stick, like an olive branch.

Hi! I forgot the name of this really good werewolf!Draco fic and it’s like a mix of beauty and the beast and phantom of the opera. The last chapter I read was they were having this epic fight and Hermione was a badass. If I remember correctly, the first chapter was like a mystery novel setting where there is an OC detective.
