I know that you came from god. Your dark brown skin shines like emeralds in the sun. Your lips come from wine, most sweet and divine. Your body through Christ is shaped like a Greek god. Your spirit is your temple and you make room for me. You extend two fingers to save me, they are that strong, and you pull me back to safety with all ten. Into your graces I go, it feels like home but without chaos. You are my quiet place, where I can hear your heart beat at a pace it hasn’t beat before. Where I can smell your smell and reminisce about the time you gave me your sweater. I know you came from god because it just doesn’t get any better.

Talk to yourself the way you would talk to god on a good day. Treat yourself the way you’d treat god if he walked into your home. Be as thankful as god is to have created you. Think the way you would if god put you on an important mission. Thank god for the bad the way you thank him when those new shoes or new game console arrive. Do what god would do when you see someone going through hell. Go through hell to get to god. Once you get to god, tell him you’re sorry you only thanked him when you had what you wanted. Tell him you’re sorry that you only helped someone because they said they’d help you. Tell him you’re sorry that you passed him up when you saw him sitting outside in the cold with no clothes, food, and no drink. Tell him you’re sorry that you didn’t believe in yourself enough to believe in him. Sometimes to get to god, you have to be like god. As much as he suffered and as many thorns he had to wear, what you’re going through is nothing but a thorn. Just one.
