tumblr as a company has clearly sided with israel (running pro-israel propaganda & misinformation ads, blocking/suppressing the palestine tag and many related tags) at this point if you pay for ad free browsing, badges, or merch you are enabling this. tumblr is not playing both sides, they are not acting neutrally, they are on the side of genocide. do not support this company
forgot to mention that tumblr is also deleting posts and videos showing proof of israelโs acts of genocide and war crimes, which is abhorrent on a different level. they are suppressing the truth intentionally. tumblr is acting maliciously to silence the truth. do not fund this by buying features from them. if you do i will assume you either donโt care at best, and silently are aligned with zionism at worst.

Why should herbalists advocate for native plants?
The picture above is one I took during a nature walk in my local park. Every plant displayed here is native to my region.
Native plants have spent millions of years adapting to their climate and habitat. They have developed mutual relationships with other life entities to create a flourish community of biodiversity. Non natives or invasive species can disrupt this harmony. Yes, some non natives deter pests or grow well in harsher climates (some even better than natives) which can help towards climate change. But natives promote biodiversity. Natives improve the water quality with their long established root systems and are better at attracting pollinators. Plus only non natives can be invasive.
Working with native species is a form of ancestral veneration. Our ancestors used what was common in their environment for home remedies and spiritual worship. Because of them we have the wisdom and knowledge of the plant world and how to heal ourselves.
The act of commercialism (aka capitalism) has caused some native species to become endangered. Therefore I encourage everyone to do research on the herbs we want to use.
On that note, If you have a garden or lawn (or acres of land, lucky you), fall and winter season is the perfect time to start growing because natives require a dormancy period in order to germinate and bloom in the spring. As I mentioned above, native plants have evolved over time to resist certain temperatures. This makes it easier to take care of and did I mention it helps the native wildlife? Growing native plants is one of the leading ways of fighting climate change.
In the meantime, check out the site abnativeplants.com to see what native plants grow in your zone.

herbal preparation types
TEA โ To consume. Steep herbs, flowers, or roots in hot water.ย Vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants found in herbal teas provide many short and long-term health benefits. Used for colds, immune system, digestive system, inflammation, anti-aging, stress, anxiety, or skin health, among other treatments.
TINCTUREย โ To consume. Herbs that have been stepped in alcohol or vinegar in process of extraction, creating a concentrated liquid form of a herb.ย Preserve and concentrate the properties of the herb, making them more effective and longer lasting.ย Fill glass jar with dried herbs. Filling half full will make a stronger (donโt pack down.) Pour boiling water to just dampen all of the herbs. Fill the rest of the jar with vodka and stir. Store the jar in a cool/dry place, shaking daily, for at least three weeks and up to six months. Strain and store in blue or amber dropper bottles (or clean glass jars.) Take 2-3 drops daily.
POULTICE โ Topical application. Moistened herbs formed and patted down over area where needed (like herbal band-aid). Place whole or powdered herbs in a bowl and add hot water to stick together. Apply topically and use medical gauze to hold in place. Good for: stings, bites, wounds, broken bones, infection, boils, in-grown issues, acne, or anything that needs to be drawn from the skin.
FOMENTATION โ Topical application. Strong steep infusion of herbs (typically stronger than what you would drink). Infuse, strain, and soak cloth in infusion, applying to area where needed. Useful for wrapping a body part or treating large area.
TOPICAL WASH โ Topical application. Similar to fomentations, but instead infuse herbs and strain then soak affected body part in the infusion. Direct contact allows herbs to penetrate in unique way.ย
HERBAL OIL โ Topical application. Herbs areย โbakedโ in base oil such as: olive, sweet almond, apricot, jojoba, avocado, grape seed, or hemp. Can use fresh or dried plant material and sun or Oven as heat source. Heat extracts the oil soluble healing components of the herbs to create the healing oil. Herbal oil often used to make other products such as salves, lotions, or creams but can be used on their own.
SALVE โ Topical application. Treatment with the consistency of a balm or ointment. Made by adding beeswax to a herbal oil until desired consistency.ย Used to sooth skin after a burn, bite, sting, abrasion, or other surface problems.ย

๐ Things To Research As A Green Witch MASTERLIST
A green witch is typically a witch who specializes and focuses on natural materials and energies. They are often skilled herbalists and probably enjoys gardening. Like a lot. You might be a baby green witch or an experienced one. Maybe even an eclectic one, no matter what, all is welcome!
I am most certainly not entitled to knowing everything about green witches but I want to help out some people when stuck on not knowing what to research.
As always, enjoy!
