Week 3, Long Run (a bit of a panicky ramble)
Long run may be a slight exaggeration--it was six miles. On a treadmill. Ugh.Â
But sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do, right?Â
I kept it easy again, random inclines, around a 9 minute mile pace. It felt glacial but my  knees (yes, both are acting up slightly) felt like they could take it. It was fine this week but next week's long run? Eleven miles. Not sure if I can handle that yet.
Of course, I also had two customers yesterday tell me about how running ruined their knees and now they are lucky they can even ski. Terrifying.
A friend also emailed me today to tell me she wants to either run the marathon or spectate. Which is sooo awesome but also...what if I can't do it?!? I hate this. I hate not knowing from day to day if I can run. And not knowing if my stupid knee can handle eleven freakin' miles when my heart and  my lungs absolutely can. And I slowly feel it all slipping away.
Run: 6.25 miles, 55 minutes
Training Plan: 6 Miles

Week 3, Friday Swim Session
Okay, yes, I'm back to saying I'm marathon training. Technically not a lie. Technically not 100% accurate either. Mostly since I'm not sure that I can follow all parts of my training plan given the Knee Situation. My knee definitely hurt last night and then this morning but feels a LOT better right now.
Last night I went to a big box sports store and bought myself a swim cap and some new goggles (which I have been typing as googles ALL.DAY.LONG.). It makes me an official swim type person, right? Okay, the cap is mostly for vanity. And the goggles (GOOGLES AGAIN) because my old ones did some severe damage to the skin around my eyes each time I took them off.
So, I felt both official and idiotic at the pool this morning. But still I swam.
Actual: 40ish minutes in the pool, about 30 25meter laps
Plan: 45 Minutes Crosstraining
Mood: Cautiously optimistic.
The wildly inaccurate stats of my first run in a week are above. The treadmill told me I was running a 9:05 pace and went for 3.90 miles so I think that's more accurate than my Nike+ band, to be honest.
It felt...okay? I ran in the New Balance Minimuses and let me tell you, they will let you know when you are messing up. I felt each heelstrike, each time my knees went inwards, each change in footfall.
My knee hurt a bit but nothing unusual. Now it's my right hip flexor that's acting up! I CAN'T WIN.
Tomorrow, I head to the pool so that will give me some extra resting time.Â

Actual: 3.88 Miles
Time: 35 minutes
