Me: Someone asked me to draw more evil cats a while ago, and I kind of want to draw Mapleshde. Does she count as evil? She’s more of a tragic character but her actions in her debut book show that she kinda slipped down a dark & slippery slope… I’d say she wasn’t evil at least to start with.

Cat color chart!

I’m not saying everything on this chart is 100% anatomically/genetically correct, but I tried to simplify it as much as I could!

shadowstar (tall shadow)?

Tall lady just wants to sit under a pine tree

She and Sun Shadow are near identical, the only difference is Tall Shadow’s slightly longer fur.

Oldest of the original leaders

Long fur restricted to upper body- this means she has no trouble traversing the marshes in ShadowClan territory.

Hoo boy this was a lot of fun!! I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how different types of spirits would appear while drawing out new designs. I’ll eventually make seperate posts for each of the characters but for now I’ll just dump these here d( -u-")

Slight spoilers under cut for explanations!

StarClan cats are descibed as having stars in their shining fur, eyes like stars, and frost in their footsteps. I only really dropped the frost thing here but I wanted to keep the design simple- even with the stars ._.” When drawing the shining fur it reminded me of the descriptions of angels in His Dark Materials- looking as if there was always sunlight shining on them from somewhere. So I though it would be cool to do the same thing but with moonlight instead. Their eyes are flipped in colour- white for the pupil and the pupil’s old colour for the sclera!

Dark Forest cats on the other hand have no real descriptive differences compared to regular cats, so I took the same ideas as StarClan cats and flipped it. The blue colour used for StC cats is inverted to red, and they have a red glow shining down on them. Their eyes are also darkened- the sclera are dark versions of their pupils, while the pupils stay the same.

The Tribe of Endless Hunting and the Ancients got bundled together for this one since there isn’t a clear boundry where the two spilt. They retain colour apon becoming a spirit, although they become slightly washed out and transparent. The sclera of their eyes become the same as their pupils, but the pupils remain vibrant (not washed out, though still transparent) so there is a slight difference.

Ghosts on theother hand do not keep their colours. They go completely greyscale, except for their pupils. Their sclera also turn the same colour as their pupils, but are also turned greyscale. They are see-through like the Ancients/ ToEH.

Both Half Moon and Spiresight belong to more than one group here- Half Moon in StarClan and ToEH, and Spiresight in StarClan and as a ghost. These cats could likely appear as either group depending on where they were or who they were visiting. For example, if Feathertail were to visit a cat in the Tribe, she would appear like a ToEH cat. If she were to visit a clan cat, she would appear as a StarClan cat.

The last of the new trio! I know Rootpaw’s warrior name is already out there but I wanted to avoid drawing it in case anything happens in the next book.

I’m going to make Violetshine and Twigbranch have pointed colourations and thought it would look neat for Rootpaw too

Otherwise his colouration is very similar to Tree’s and he inherited the Polydactyl-ness (6 toes, 6th sense >=3c)

Same size as Violetshine but slightly more fluffy

The marking on his shoulder is a slightly rounded version of a marking Twigbranch will have in the same place

Smallest of the trio, even when fully grown (if he ends up bigger in canon I’ll say he put on a growth spurt lol)

Floppy ear!!!! I don’t have an excuse, I just thought it looked cute

It points upright when he talks to ghosts!

More newer characters! Bristlefrost is such a neat character she’s so driven and skilled and can we please have Bristlestar at some point-

Much like Shadowsight I haven’t drawn her parents so shes a new design!

I know the books say Shadowkit looks like Bristlekit and her siblings but I forgot that when designing them

So instead she’s a similar colour- her dark stripes are the same colour as Shadowsight’s bib!

Same colour scheme as Ivypool, and visually very similar in pattern

Big and puffy from Fernsong! I headcannon both his parents as fluffy

Thick fur makes her look bigger but she’s still solid muscle under there

Starts off average size but just keeps growing

Her ears are a lil bit fluffy!! Her tail also fans out into spikes more than bunches

SO YEAH FROSTED TIPS- I’d finished the design and had the idea when I was making this image, she already had the small patches of white but I felt like I wanted to change her design as she got older like Shadowsight. So, FROSTED TIPS

The new Veil of Shadows preview had me thinking ab Shadowsight today... what a good boy. Why must he be vibe checked at every single opportunity??

I haven’t drawn Tigerheartstar or Dovewing yet so Shadowsight’s design is prettyyy much brand new!

Starts off real puffy like Dovewing but his fur sleeks out as he gets older

Stripes are very similar to Tigerheartstar’s in shape, but slightly thicker and more rounded

Very similar body shape to Alderheart, but less pointy

Bristlefrost is the same size as him at the start of The Broken Code but still grows bigger after Shadowsight gets his full name.

After the lighting strike the thin hair splits from the rest of the fringe and turns pale

OK SO heres the deal this kid has been vibe checked so much (near-drowning, lighting, yeeting, etc.) that I wanted to show that somewhere on his design similar to how I might end up doing leaders lives. So! He now has 9 spots on his tail to show this!! And I’m gonna be real sad if I have to dim another one!!!

Now here’s something a little different! I wanted to show the family connections between all the cats I have drawn so far, so everyone can see the resemblance. The next batch of cats I’m doing aren’t going to link up for a while so now felt like a good time to review!

Frost-Lion Family Getting into the more popular characters, and ones that are actually, heavens above, alive. Everyone is fluffy and all the babies are tanks, even if Cinderpelt is only average size she’s buff. Explained this in the Cinderpelt post but white cats are just regular cats with big white spots, so Frostfur (despite being albino in her design like her uncle Snowkit) is actually a calico. Hence Cinderpelt and Brightheart looking nothing like either of their parents. Almost halfway through my current list, I’ll be talking more about what will be happening with that in around a month!
