Hey so as the economy continues to get worse in the next few years, gambling companies are going to go extra hardcore predatory as people become more desperate. Yes, even more than they already are. You have to promise me right now you're not going to fall for it. No gambling, okay?
This is going to be especially bad with prediction markets and sports gambling, and it's already really fucking bad. But it also goes for loot boxes, blind box collectables, trading card games, and ESPECIALLY gacha games.
We are seeing this right now with Kalshi's sudden push towards people watching reality dating shows like love island, as they are starting to tap out on their first big market block - young straight men into sports/politics. They are moving on towards young straight women now with the dating shows thing but they will start diversifying into other niches soon!
Do not start gambling. A friend of mine used to work for a bank's anti-money-laundering dept and they'd review flagged accounts for suspicious withdrawals, frequent charges, etc, and sometimes it was fraud but other times it was just severe gambling addicts absolutely hemorrhaging money. It is not worth it!!!

Mystery Inc. but it’s the 1890s
Who had late Victorian Scooby Doo on their 2024 bingo card? Hmm?
The idea came to me when I was thinking about Sherlock Holmes and then remembered the iconic mystery solving gang hehe
Since this was around the advent of electricity and superstition was rife, there were probably a TON of ingenious tricks the wealthy could use to scare people away from their real-estate.
What I'm saying is this is basically the ideal setting for a Scooby Doo series.
hey don't cry. on december 3, 1926, agatha christie went missing for eleven days and because the uk police didn't know what to do they recruited sir arthur conan doyle, creator of master detective sherlock holmes, but all he did was conduct a séance to try and contact her distressed spirit
Tudor-Stuart Englishmen wondering what religion they have to be today
Help me
This is the Supernatural "I love you" meme but specific to announcing that another UK PM has resigned.

I’m moving. For reasons that I don’t understand, my older brother decided to pack up almost everything in my craft room without any supervision (I guess I wasn’t moving fast enough for his preference) so I don’t know how he organized it. I don’t know what bags my scissors are in or my thread or my patterns or my Aida cloth or my embroidery floss or my wips. I don’t even know if two different costume pieces I was working on are with their patterns. No idea if he kept my scraps or how they were put in storage. I do know he didn’t put my sewing machine in its actual carrier. I was able to go through some of my fabric and take out cuts I wanted to sell and bag some things up according to theme and type, but that’s about it.
Well, jokes on him because I can’t teach his daughter how to make doll clothes if I don’t know where my shit is. I’m not going through multiple bags and boxes to find everything I need because he organized my craft stuff and not me.
Well, today me and my sister got criticized by my great aunt and my brother for “taking too long” and “keeping too much stuff”. Well, we’d be further along and have less stuff in storage if my brother did what we wanted him to do (clean out the attic and the shed) instead of boxing up the craft room because I would have put aside the three sewing machines I wanted to keep (one is an embroidery machine, btw) and sold the rest on Marketplace instead of putting every single sewing machine my mom bought in storage. I also would have gotten rid of the fabric and supplies I don’t want or need.
I’m in hell.
So something I noticed when packing up my embroidery machine is that there were 3 different plugs and 2 sewing machine foot pedals near it. I thought that was weird, but it wasn’t until I noticed that the printer in the same area was missing its cord that I realized that my brother probably packed the Janome sewing machine without its cord or foot pedal. It was in the same area with the embroidery machine and the printer.
Alan Turing and Ada of Lovelace did not invent computer science for the girls and the gays to claim they can't do math
Happy Pride month to all the gay folks who should still be with us but were lost to AIDS. So many of them had (and continue to have) huge impacts on the world, despite their lives being tragically cut short.
Since this is primarily a Muppet blog, I wanted to take a moment to talk about Richard Hunt.
Richard Hunt was a gay man and a fantastic puppeteer who started working with Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, and company in 1970 at age eighteen and joined the cast of Sesame Street two years later. While working with the Muppets, he originated the characters of Scooter, Beaker, Statler, Sweetums, and Wayne, but also became the primary performer of Janice and is responsible for the flower child personality she is now known for. He was also known to be a fantastic singer.
But maybe most importantly, he made so many people happy. According the book "Of Muppets and Men" by Christopher Finch, Hunt "seems to get more unadulterated pleasure from performing than anyone else in the organization. When he is not working on camera, he is apt to have Scooter or Beaker or Janice -- anyone -- on his arm for the purpose of entertaining... He makes the crew laugh, jokes with the guest star, clowns for the shop personnel. He is one of the chief reasons for the loose atmosphere that exists around Studio D despite the pressure and the slow pace that are endemic to television production."
Hunt died at age 41 due to AIDS complications. The Muppet Workshop made a panel for the NAMES Project AIDS quilt in his honor. The Richard Hunt Spirit Award is presented every year at the Sesame Street wrap party to the cast member that best honors Hunt's generosity and dedication on set.
Rest in peace Richard. Thank you for the laughs and the smiles, and happy Pride 💛

New understanding of American Big Drink With Ice supremacy as summer creeps in
Begrudging acceptance of mandatory water breaks during games
Americans realizing we have a Team USA and we are not, in fact, just "hosting our friends" from around the world — mostly because we won our first match and our team is decent??? Not amazing but not the worst.
Side rant: us women's football team is legendary good and we should care about that more like. Hello???
Admitting Americans are right about air conditioning
Related: the english team did warm ups in Florida RIP, and also the there's a video of the French team just being like fuck the heat, fuck the sun, this is so hot...
Americans who do not normally care about international football but fucking love a sport and cheering so we're just hyping whatever team is nearby, like we see a party and just show up and learn the chant. Like sorry many of us don't know shit about soccer but if we see a bunch of people in viking helmets or kilts or holding a bunch of flags and cheering we're game.
TAILGATING!!!!
I already said this but American yellow school bus is an international celebrity
The Scottish drank Boston dry of beer apparently, like they quadrupled what Boston normally sells for fourth of July weekend. SAM ADAMS HAD TO GET AN EMERGENCY BEER DELIVERY.
Also the English team fans got kicked out of The Londoner pub in Dallas after drinking 5,000 beers and going over max capacity lmao
Free refill drinks, tortilla chips & salsa.
So many non-americans are going to be here for the 4th of July for our 250th anniversary which is going to be great and hilarious
