Meet Kaina, the main character for the story I’m working on. Her name is pronounced "kaɪnʌ".

I know I haven't uploaded any WIP Wednesday posts lately... so I thought I’d post something about the comic I'm working on: the logline and the main character design. I'm just inches away from writing a first draft, so I'll be posting some tidbits before I launch the comic (for which I have no release date yet... this is my first original comic, so I’m still learning)

If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted weekly on Wednesdays lately, I moved to a new place, so that was keeping me away from drawing, and also I kinda ran out of ideas to post on WIP Wednesdays.

But now I have a focus: I want to improve my line weight skills! My strength has always been drawing, but I haven’t practiced changing the width of the line. So here’s some studies I’ve made this last week from manga I own. I drew them traditionally, scanned, and fixed digitally.

I won’t be posting these studies so frequently, since I’m also working on my own story for a webcomic, and I want to have that finished before working on the pages.

That’s it for now, and I will be drawing another birthday portrait next week!

So... I forgot to post this yesterday for WIP Wednesday... Better late than never. Daz Black just had his birthday last Tuesday, so of course I made a portrait of him. He’s a very funny guy with the catchiest laughter.

I made Ross’ portrait for his birthday, which was last Sunday. He is @rubberninja in Tumblr.

Choosing reference for this was tricky... since he rarely appears in videos, it was either a tiny, well lighted screencap, or a weirdly lighted close-up. I opted for the second, so that’s why he looks like he’s got a tan. I used a backlit screencap.

Hello! And welcome to another WIP Wednesday post!

Sorry I couldn’t upload anything last week, I had just returned from a long trip and I was exhausted. I’ve been in a very slow mood lately and it doesn’t help that I still have things to pack to move to our new place. But this is something I wanted to make for a long time and I finally decided to draw it.

There’s some spots on the wall of the bathroom of the gym I go to, and I always see reptilian eyes there, and for some reason my brain completes the image with a fat dragon. I’ve been wanting to do this since I noticed those spots, which was at least a couple of years ago. And it’s finally done! I really liked the result. I hope to improve my lineart since it’s something I really enjoy.

I’m telling you elephants are chill motherfuckers. They fucking love being helpful. They once defended a man with heatstroke from a truck that came to rescue him. They knew he was sick, laying against a tree for shade. They were watching over him and petting him, and they threatened to charge the vehicle for coming towards him. Another person passed out, and elephants cried over her and buried her body in a traditional elephant funeral. (Piling branches on her). And were quite spooked when she got up later. And an elephant was helping workers to put logs in holes for a wall. On one hole, the elephant absolutely refused to set the log in, despite being punished and goaded. Turns out there was a sleeping dog in the hole.

There are so many good elephants stories. They will even help zookeepers wash other elephants– literally, a zookeeper can be like “[Name 1], please wash [Name 2]” and he will go wash that elephant correctly. Listen guys. Not only are elephants people, but they’re largely better people than us. I’m 10000% serious.
