“Music shouldn’t be kept a secret. It’s meant to be shared.”
“Honesty is the best policy.” His eyebrows rose. “What are you going to do with the picture?”
Suddenly a snack had turned to lunch. Why must she always spin him on a loop like this? He frowned, placing the dollar bill into his pocket--continuing to eye the nutty granola behind the vending screen. Turning to face her he spoke quietly, “Okay... but it better be good.”
“I don’t care--the news.” He sighed.
Text: All
Jaq: u wouldn't
Mal: u didn't even name the bar
Mal: i'm on the street... hope this is the right place?
Mal pressed his lips together as she spoke. He could feel the warm sun-rays beating down on his exposed forearms reminding him that his fair skin would soon begin to sunburn if he didn’t find shelter in the shade. “Well I’m glad you’re not, there is already enough competition in the music industry as it is.” He held the paper up with notes sketched onto the thin, straight lines hoping she would catch on that he wasn’t a writer, but a musician.

Jaq: wow that was easy
Mal: i can turn back around
“- okay.” He said pressing his lips together in a fine line, his eyes looking away. “Sorry I noticed.”
“Come on you were owning it five seconds ago. It’s a popular song.”
“And the gravy can be the moat?”
Gee, these things are getting so lame.
The writers down at the fortune cookie factory are clearly really struggling these days. “The fortune you seek is in another cookie”. I mean, that’s just sheer laziness and a lack of imagination.
“It’s not like the fortunes are real, anyway.”
“I think I should be one hundred percent honest and tell you that’s a really awful idea.”
“Can you suggest a better one?”
“If you worked out you wouldn’t be so exhausted.” Mal bluntly stated. Honestly, he wasn’t a huge fan of the gym either. Any working out he usually did in the comfort of his own home. Being a musician, staying healthy and fit made spending hours on a stage more bearable plus carrying all the equipment wasn’t easy. Mal found a vending machine down the hall and took out a wrinkled dollar bill, flattening out its corners so that the machine wouldn’t spit it back out.
