Leena laughed softly. “The only reason I’m here is for my...” Leena stopped. If she called Lizzie her granddaughter Harrison would definitely have some questions. “I know the girl who set this all up. She invited me and I didn’t want to be rude.”

“You should try to enjoy yourself.” Leena handed a cup to Kai. “It is a party afterall.”

Leena laughed slightly. What had she been up to aside from trying to get her family back and seemingly failing miserably? “Trying to fit into this crazy world again.”

“Is there a reason you’re staring? Just for fun or is there something you need?” Katherine quipped.

“Sorry.” Leena mumbled. “I didn’t mean to stare. I was lost in my own world actually.”

He put his tongue on one of his canines and breathed, then put on a small smile. “Nah…nah I don’t mind you ranting…just…old wounds ya know…” if things went well with her perhaps he would revisit the idea of opening up his traumatic past.

Leena nodded. She did know. “So, lets change the subject then. Tell me something about yourself.”

He didn’t really think before his next words came flooding out. “Reminds me of my dad.” He said then steeled his jaw. “Yeah…you’re right let’s not talk about it.” He took a swig of his drink

Leena looked over at the man at his comment. “I’m sorry. If you want to talk about, you can. I’ve been ranting all night.” She said, tucking her hair behind her ear.

“Yeah.. I know. That’s what I’m nervous about.” Joey replied. “That he’ll take advantage of that.” 

“Don’t worry about me, Joey. It’s my job to worry about you.” Leena gave him a smile. “Let’s focus on something else, huh?”

“I know you are a shitty mom who let her kids be used as pawns in your husbands game. I know you kept having kids just to screw over your oldest, and I know that anything you did because of a change of heart or whatever… it wasn’t enough. Now, you’ve managed to get your own granddaughter killed. I don’t even like that one and it pissed me off.” Penelope’s words were venemous and cruel, and she had no regrets. “So don’t mind if I do taker you up on your offer for me to keep hating you.”

Leena knew the girl was upset, Leena herself was over everything that went down. She tried not to let her words get to her, but they were right. Leena could blame her naive nature all she wanted, but she knew deep down she was also to blame for everything that happened with her family. “But you like Josie. Which explains why you’re so worried about them.”

Leena sighed. Her heart wouldn’t let her give up on any of her children, despit what she knew. “I’ll protect myself, but as a mother I can’t help holding out hope.”

“Get the lady something stronger.” He tossed a 20 at the bartender. “wanna talk about it?”

Leena bit the inside of her cheek. “He was very controlling.” The Parker thought about her next set of words very carefully. “He, uh, he seemed the care more about his friends and what they thought. I never really got a say.” She shrugged, taking a sip of her new drink. “I’d rather not think about anymore.”

She knew joey was still worried about Kai. “If it comes to that, we’ll figure something out.”
