You know what I like to think?

I think that Tarre Vizsla left the darksaber to the Jedi Order specifically because he knew the Mandolorians were going to pull Exactly This Shit, and he wanted to set up a little test for them.

Because he also left the Jedi Order his Diaries. His political essays, daily life, personal philosophy, family photos, the works.

So when the Mandolorians broke in to steal "their" artifacts, they found the darksaber out in the open, near the front of the Library.

Along with his Diaries. The record of this man's life, in an easy-to-carry Holocron.

They're both there, in two cases, right next to each other. The alarms are blaring, there's really only time to take one. Which do you take? His weapon? Or his words?

It's a test, and the Mandolorians that robbed the temple failed the hell out of it.

The Darksaber hasn't really stabilized anyone's rule because while there was an artifact that more or less carried the Divine Mandate of Mandalore, it wasn't the Darksaber. It was THE LITERAL HOW-TO-MANDALORE-REAL-GOOD INSTRUCTIONS he left behind.

I think that'd be a funny twist on events.

Genuinely, you have managed to present something that actually fits with canon while also expanding upon it in a perfectly cohesive way that fits the themes of not only Tarre Vizsla as a character (and what he represents) and everything involving the Darksaber, but you've also managed to highlight something that many people seem to forget:

Tarre Vizsla was also a Jedi. Not just a Mandalorian. A Jedi.

I love this scenario/story that you've presented. Not only does it address Tarre Vizla's decision to leave the Darksaber with the Jedi, but you expand on why he might have done so. And then to present taking the Darksaber or his teachings as a choice for his descendants to make---"the choices we make and how they impact the greater whole" being something that the Jedi expel upon so much in their teachings---holy fuck, man. You blew it out of the fucking park.

heated argument with ghost qui-gon where obi-wan is like they TOLD you anakin shouldn't be trained they SAID it would be dangerous but NOOO you wanted your precious Chosen One 'ooh obi-wan you must promise me to train the boy it is my last dying wish obi-wan' fuck OFF!!! and qui-gon is like you realize this is a people in glass houses type of situation

5 times owen lars chased obi-wan off his property with a stick (+ 1 time he tried to shoot him in the kneecap for good measure)

confirmation that vader figured out like 2 months in that luke was his kid and was perfectly happy to just let him live an ordinary boring life as long as he didn't get dragged into galactic politics, but then obi-wan had to go and do The Utmost

the 5 stages of grief but instead of acceptance it's spite

adventure of the week episode where obi-wan has to rescue 7 y/o luke from some predicament and then deliver him home safely, which leads to him realizing kids are fine, like, as a general concept, but he's not cut out for dealing with them 24/7 (also owen threatens to shoot him again)

the bit where another jedi survivor is like your name is very. um. conspicuous? have you considered changing it for personal safety reasons? and obi-wan is like ur right and changes it from obi-wan kenobi to ben kenobi

all the other times obi-wan dismembers someone at the local pub until people just get used to it and anytime someone new in town asks they're like oh yeah, mad ole ben the hermit, he does that. yeah, he's got a jedi lightsaber. no, we don't ask for reasons of he'll cut off your arm with it

jedi hopscotch. jedi padawans drawing hopscotch squares on floors, using jedi knights’ shoulders to chalk hopscotch onto the walls, having their masters force lift them to put them on the ceilings. every single jedi who sets foot on a square, intentionally or not, must stop what they are doing and complete the sequence. your ridiculously billowing sleeve brushed one of the squares on the wall? hope you have good control of the force bc every padawan in the hallway will start chanting at you until you wall-run through the hopscotch. sometimes there’s just a big chalk circle at the end where everyone has to do a cool flip if they step inside. eventually there’s an official hopscotch lane in every hallway in the temple. jedi hopscotch.
