you know what else grinds my geers when judges say ādonāt wear one shoe because it tells us you can only turn on one sideā literally shut the hell up youāre supposed to be judging the dance itās 2 minutes and 30 fucking seconds on stage like obviously in a group dance weāre gonna pick one side for the group to turn on like this isnāt a technique class weāre at competition to show off what weāre good at
i see both sides but i think wearing both or none looks better. but agree about showing off what you are good at
eh I think it does make it look like you can only turn on one side or cant turn bare footed. none or both. Its not a technique class but it is part of what you are being judged on
If two shoes come in the box, two shoes should be on your feet.
Just my opinion on the matter . We are the only āsport or artā that gets asked to use and show both sides . Does Simone biles get told to twist the other way because we need to make sure she can do both sides ? Does Michael Phelps get told he has to breathe equally on both sides so his neck turns on both sides , does a quarter back get told Iām sorry you must throw with your non dominant arm every to show you can use both sides etc . Iām a firm believer in stretching and drilling both sides for correct muscle strength and to reduce injury . But to tell a dancer they need to at a competition where they are being scored on how good something is show the non dominant side is wild . Yes if a kid can do both perfect great show it but put in your dances what can help you score ! Drill both sides in class for body awareness and proper muscle formation.
Donāt ask an 18 year old to please stop writing with their right hand because itās not good for you . You may develop arthritis in that hand so after all those years you need to switch hands now . Use both . šš¤·š¼āāļø
When a floor is slick 2 slip on 1/2 shoes ( not ballroom or tap or full jazz shoes of course ) donāt work well . You donāt have the traction you may need . No one wants to slip on stage . Most stages donāt even allow stuff on your shoes to prevent it either . Just my view point but honestly dancers wear what makes you comfy ! You do you let our sport have the art still by allowing dancers to do what makes them feel comfy š¤š¤
