the autumn breeze had cha jaehyun’s spirit soaring high above the boughs. this day was perfect and no one could tell him otherwise. after all, autumn in the korean countryside has always been more beautiful than the concrete jungle of seoul. the fallen leaves seemingly created a carpet of red and gold, everything was shining but nothing beats the beauty of the man walking down the aisle and towards him. to be quite honest, there were still moments where he wondered that maybe, just maybe, his uncle aiden was right. he was an idiot after all but miraculously, kwon kiha still chose him.

and jaehyun would keep choosing him in every lifetime they would spend.

“you look heavenly,” jae whispered as soon as kiha reached him, his eyes shining with unshed tears. he never thought that this day would come but here they are. he offered his arm for the other man to take and they faced the officiant together. jaehyun couldn’t even focus on what was being said, his eyes were solely focused on kiha. he knew that they were surrounded by their intimate circle of friends and family but for the vampire, it was just him and the love of his life.

“the couple has prepared their own wedding vows, so jaehyun please read your vow out loud.”

jae smiled brightly and took kiha’s hand in his, “kwon kiha, the day i met you was indeed one for the books. i’ve always thought that i was doomed to live the rest of my eternal life alone and unloved. then you came along. your eyes met mine and at that moment, it was as if my soul said, oh it’s you. i finally found you.” a tear finally escaped jae’s brown eyes which made him chuckle for a bit. who knew that he could be this emotional? it’s been years yet kiha still brings out aspects of him, he never thought he had.

“our relationship wasn’t the easiest and 98% of the time it’s probably because i’m an idiot but jagi, this idiot will never give up on us. even when i was on the brink of death or when i was trapped by a darned demon, i never stopped loving you. i promise that i won’t let go of your hand. if you lose your way or you get lonely, just call me and no matter where you are i will come running to you. i will continue loving you farther than tomorrow and longer than forever. i love you, kwon kiha, my soulmate.”

to be honest, he wouldn't think that pinning the bombings on that one girl would be that successful. but if he wasn't able to pin it on yoona, he was quite confident that there were witnesses alive who saw him and his dad wearing the aegis crest and setting fire to everything they touch.

back up was too late. 

kiha felt himself stiffen, immediately on edge. for a moment he wondered. a skinwalker? shifting into jae’s form, leaving his body waiting to be found? it was hard to believe someone could get one over jae, but the last, desperate message for back up rung painfully in kiha’s memory. then the eyes changed. demon red eyes. dark and horrible. he clenched his fists tightly as the demon continued to speak, mocking him with what had happened. the regret and pain and mourning rolling in his stomach would have to wait, would have to be shoved aside and dealt with later. there was nothing tears would do to help the current situation, not when this demon held control over jae’s body, knife poised against his arm. “who the fuck are you?”

“You know I always worry.”

A smirk formed on Azzazith’s lips at those words. In all the years he has spent walking in the mortal realm and claiming one soul after the other, he always thought of the relationships his hosts formed as stupid and useless. Love was nothing but a nuisance for a demon and its host. And Kiha? Oh how Jaehyun loved him so. 

The demon knew right then and there that Kiha would be a roadblock to his plans but the vampire pleaded with him, offering a pact that was just too good to decline. More time to fulfill his plans, more resources, and Jaehyun would give him the liberty to do whatever he wanted. And so he accepted the pact with a promise not to harm any of the Veritas members, especially the pink haired dryad. Who knows maybe they could be instrumental in his quest to acquire as many souls as he can? After all, Jaehyun wasn’t an ordinary vampire and the people around him are deadly in their own way. It would be best to get their cooperation. 

Azzazith saw the dryad’s stance change into a defensive one, making the demon chuckle as he drew more blood from the vampire’s forearm. “I’m the reason why Jaehyun is even breathing right now. This blood? It flows because of me, Kiha.” The demon stalked around the place, looking at a photo of the vampire on one of the desks. “There were too many hunters than what was reported. He was shot twice before the hunters injected him with blood that came from a dead man,” Azzazith then threw the empty syringe on the desk in front of them. “Lucky for your vampire, he knew a way to summon a demon. That’s why I’m standing in front of you and you don’t have to mourn Cha Jaehyun...yet.”

The crossroads demon watched Kiha carefully. He may be a demon but he definitely enjoyed seeing the pain and sorrow in someone’s eyes. It gave him a sick kind of satisfaction. “I know what you’re thinking, dryad. You can’t just get rid of me. Remember, I’m the only reason why Jaehyun is alive. You get rid of me and you have to prepare to bury the love of your life.” Azzazith smirked and extended his hand for the dryad to take, “I’m Azzazith by the way. I hope we can work in harmony together. I’ll be generous and give you some time with Jaehyun, what do you say?”

it was moments like this, soft, careful moments like this, that made kiha think perhaps the other felt the same. perhaps he loved him too. he grinned at the vampire. the novelty of having someone specifically cook to his diet never wore off on kiha. after those three years of being fed scraps and anything that suited the whims of his keeper, jae’s continual accommodation to him filled him with quiet joy. he opened the fridge, picking out the tofu and marinating ingredients. walking himself next to the vampire, kiha leaned in to press a soft kiss to his cheek “i got them.”

jaehyun never really thought of the future. even if he was a vampire bound to stay on earth for eternity, he never really had grand plans for the future. as an assassin, he knew any day might be his last. like most of his beliefs in life, it all changed when he met kiha. now, jaehyun imagines a cozy home with plants in every corner. he’ll be cooking kiha’s favorite meals as the dryad tends and sings to the plants. everything will be nurtured just like his love for his kiha. if only he was brave enough to tell the other his feelings. “ya!” jaehyun protested, chuckled at the other’s teasing. “my simple soap and water got me through twenty six years of life.” he still remembered the look on kiha’s face when he saw the minimal supplies he had in his bathroom. jaehyun smiled widely at the name the dryad suggested. “ki and hyun. they’re perfect, jagi.”

still smiling like a lovestruck idiot, jaehyun gently caressed the aloe’s leaves. like the plants that kiha gave him, the dryad now occupied a lot of space in the vampire’s heart. the idiotic fuckboy who jumped on anyone who has a pulse now wanted to become a better man for the loving and ethereal pink haired assassin. the old jaehyun would probably laugh at him but now he wanted to build a future with kiha. he wanted a home filled with laughter and giggles of children. if jae thinks of it hard, he could almost see a little vampire and a little dryad. he craved an eternity with kwon kiha, his tether in this world. 

jaehyun let his lips linger a little longer on the dryad’s skin. he wanted to cherish having him so close. even if the whole world changes, cha jaehyun’s love for kwon kiha will never change. the day he realized that he was in love with kiha, the vampire swore that whatever happens kiha will always be his priority.--over anyone, over his own life. 

the pureblood smiled at the dryad as he watched him maneuver in the kitchen as if he had the entire layout memorized. he was brought out of his thoughts when he felt kiha’s soft lips against his cheek. blood rushed to his face as his fingers softly touched the spot kiha pecked. clearing his throat, jaehyun abandoned his station and walked to where kiha was. jaehyun then pressed his body against the other’s back and wrapped his arms around his waist, “i don’t think i’ve told you yet but, thank you. for ki and hyun, for making dinner with me, for putting up with my stupidity.” for letting me in your life and loving me. “jagi, i…”

“I wish… we had more time together before all this happened,” he whispered softly, giving the other hands a small squeeze. He sniffled, willing the tears to go away because he hated crying. It showed weakness. And sometimes, he just felt like the abuse would come again, when he started crying, just like when he was kid. He didn’t mention that to anyone ever, though. He reached into his pocket, grabbing the necklace with the little sun pendant on it. He looked to Jae, holding it out gently for him. “Wear this again? I don’t want anyone else to wear it.” 

Jaehyun sighed as he looked at J’s tear streaked face. He hated the way J thought he deserved to be treated as someone who was just built for sex. He wanted to curse and hurt the people who made the gumiho think that way. He looked into the other’s eyes and continued on caressing his cheek, “How many times have I told you that you deserve nothing but to be treated like you’re the moon? Beautiful, enchanting, and irreplaceable.” Jaehyun smiled as he remembered the fateful day he met Azzazith. One of the dying man’s final wishes was for J to find someone who will make him happy and treat him right. Up until now, he wished for that. “I’m glad you told me so I can make up to you for hurting you.”

Jaehyun could only offer a sad smile to the gumiho. It was a situation they can’t dismiss that easily and the pureblood had to be prepared for it. With the little time he got to be in control of his body, Jaehyun talks to his lawyers and spends time with his boyfriend. “We don’t know that for sure, J,” the vampire looked down at his lap. “I’m just saying that you, Kiha, and the rest of Veritas need to be prepared for that day. Azzazith’s a formidable force and I’m only here now because of him. No matter what happens, I think I’ve just had enough time.”

Jaehyun squeezed J’s hand back in agreement. “I wish we had more time too. I wish I bothered you whenever you pushed me away.” The vampire lifted his hand to gently wipe the gumiho’s tears away. “Shh...stop crying J, it’s okay. We’re okay now,” he murmured as he wrapped the other into a brief comforting hug. As J showed him the necklace with a little sun pendant on it, the vampire was reminded of the time he left it by the gumiho’s front door. 

However as Jae was about to reach for the pendant, he felt Azzazith’s presence stirring inside of him and he knew that the demon would be livid for what he did. In a moment of panic, Jaehyun grabbed J’s hands and led him towards the door. “J, you have to go. You have to get as far away from here as you can. Azzazith is going to take control any minute now and it’s not going to be pretty.” He pressed a quick kiss on the gumiho’s cheek, “Go, J. I’ll hold him off as much as I can.”

“Sometimes I envy that you’re in a vampire’s body,” he murmured, tilting his head to the side as he looked to him. He let a hand go forward, resting under Azz’s chin. “The blood must taste so nice to you,” he breathed, leaning forward to brush his lips against the corner of Azz’s lip, only to capture the blood he had missed from licking it away. Lux pulled back, licking his own lips with a smirk. “Which, it does, to me, too, I suppose, just very… metallic,” he murmured, realizing he was still grasping his blood soaked knife. “Does everyone taste different?” he asked simply, curiously, with a raised eyebrow as he brought his knife up. Instead of offering the knife for the other, he brought it to his own lips, licking the blood off slowly, feeling the female’s blood stain his lips. “Does she taste different from him?” His eyes were full of mischief as he looked to the other demon in front of him.  

Azzazith’s eyes surveyed the surroundings. The pool of blood that covered the pavement seemed so appetizing to him and he blamed the vampiric physiology for that. He wouldn’t put it past Jaehyun to get every single drop from the floor. However, Azzazith was a prideful being. He wouldn’t stoop down to that level. He would just have to settle for those blood bags Jaehyun kept in his fridge. 

His eyes then met Lux’s and Azzazith swore there was something different with those eyes. Something he couldn’t quite put a finger on. The crossroads demon smirked back at the other as Lux sauntered over to him. “I agree but we can’t go for another kill. It would be too obvious to the humans, Luxie,” he explained before he retrieved the knife from the man’s side. He carefully wiped it with the spare cloth he brought with him. Jaehyun hated dirty knives and Azzazith would rather not hear the pureblood’s scolding. 

The crossroads demon hummed in response to the other’s statement, still too engrossed with cleaning his knife. It wasn’t until he felt Lux’s soft touch did he look at him. Azzazith wouldn’t deny that Lux picked a host that boasted ethereal beauty but seeing those pupils dilated in bloodlust up close, stirred something primal inside him. His hand automatically found the other’s waist as Lux brushed his lip against his, catching the small remnants of blood. “It does taste nice,” Azz muttered. His eyes were trained on the other’s frame as if he was watching his every movement. His grip on the other’s waist tightened the moment Lux let the blood stain his lips. Azzazith felt a wave of need he hadn’t felt before in Jaehyun’s body. Suddenly, his jeans felt tighter than before. “Everyone tastes different. Some taste more metallic than others, some are sweeter.” Azzazith pulled Lux closer to him until their bodies were seemingly molded together. “I don’t know what she tastes like, let me get a quick tester.” With those words, Azzazith leaned down to brush his lips against Lux’s and lick the blood that coated his lips. “She tastes a bit sweeter than him or is it you that tastes sweet?” Azzazith queried, his voice low and husky. 

He then released Lux from his hold and smirked at the other demon. “Your place for the drinks?”
