Alright because apparently I cba to actually finish any reviews (sitting on 3 half-written ones..), I’m just gonna start posting recommendations until I finish some reviews. They’ll probably be a bit rambling.
As such, my recommendation for today is Pulse by Ratana Satis!
I’m actually only half through it, but I’m enjoying it a lot. This is actually a Thai comic, not Japanese manga, though the visual style is still pretty similar. It does diverge a bit thematically/culturally though (not sure if this is an author thing or a Thai vs Japanese culture thing), handling lesbian relationships in a more adult and far less ambiguous way. Characters know they’re gay, and don’t spend much-any time angsting about it.
Now, I will say that Pulse is NSFW as hell. There is a lot of sex, though it never feels gross or male-gazey at all. In general, sexuality is centered on the characters, not the reader - for example if you get a shot of someone’s boobs (which you don’t much outside of sex scenes), it’s because a character is distracted by them, not just to shove them in the reader’s face. And the none of the characters are gross in the ways they sexualize others, or anything like that.
Anyway. Do you want to read about motorcycle-riding power lesbians? You should. Also she’s a surgeon.
It’s gay as hell, so you should consider reading it. Also bonus points for lots of domestic and romantic stuff. Lotsa flirting too.
Heck, Ratana Satis writes good stuff in general, and I’d also recommend Lily Love by her. It’s a little more traditional yuri, though it’s still about adults (college students, though), and doesn’t waste too much time on ambiguity. Most of the story is about the characters’ relationship, this isn’t the sort of thing where it takes 30 chapters for them to get together. It’s mostly SFW, though there’s a little bit of NSFW iirc. Either way, it’s super cute.
