Yukinobu Tatsu’s Far-Right Twitter Follows
Yukinobu Tatsu follows 35 people on Twitter and the only political accounts he follows are conservative.
Satoshi Fuji: Former advisor to the Abe Cabinet and outspoken supporter of Sanseito, a far-right political party known for its anti-immigration stance.
Takaaki Mitsuhashi: An economist who is anti-immigration and an outspoken Sanseito supporter, he was arrested for assaulting his teenage wife in 2018 and lost a lot of mainstream media appearances as a result.
2002: Eiichiro Oda makes a rare political statement in his chapter comments
Context: Junichiro Koizumi served as Prime Minister of Japan and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader from 2001 to 2006; he was known for being a neoliberal economic reformer.
There was a fierce debate surrounding postal privatisation at the time, which was a core policy of Koizumi. Several senior LDP members joined with opposition parties to sink Koizumi's first 2001 annual budget because of it, as they vehemently opposed the policy all the way up to its introduction. All of these senior members later left politics or formed their own parties, such as the People's New Party (every member of which was deeply linked to the postal services), and voted with the opposition against Koizumi on everything.
i want to keep on living, i'm glad i fell in love with you
i'm glad that you're evil too
That one time Himoru Arakawa purposefully upset Chinese readers by parodying Mao Zedong to… prevent piracy?
The page is from chapter 3 of Raiden-18 and the second panel depicts a zombified former CCP Chairman Mao Zedong ('Kezawa Higashi') asking where the toilet is.
Arakawa: The third chapter was when pirated editions of Fullmetal Alchemist were being churned out in "that country" like crazy and I was feeling bitter. I was thinking that my work wasn’t selling well there anyway, so I decided to draw a manga that couldn't be pirated in that country. That’s the chapter I created with that kind of defiant attitude—like “You’re not getting this one, I’m going with material you can’t bootleg.” Something like that, I think.

Kaori Yuki (Angel Sanctuary mangaka) has shared tweets defending Sanae Takaichi (Japan’s new conservative Prime Minister) and her visitations of the controversial Yasukuni Shrine. She’s also shared sinophobic and islamophobic tweets from right-wing accounts. Something to keep an eye on? 🤔
