It was saturday morning and you had just woken up when your mother stormed into your room.

"Y/n get up you need to go to Charlotte Town!" your mother opened your curtains letting in some sunlight.

you squinted your eyes at how bright the light was. "why do I have to go all the way to Charlotte town?" you ask confused.

"I need you to pick something up for me" your mother said handing you a note with an adress on it. you groaned and got up.

"you're going with Gilbert Blythe he's going to Charlotte Town as well." your mother said.

you froze. maybe today wasn't as bad after all. "yea he goes every Saturday" you say before taking your favorite dress out of your closet.

your mother walked out to make you breakfast. you quickly got dressed and ran downstairs. Gilbert was sitting at your kitchen table. you smiled.

"hey Gil" you said before kissing his cheek and sitting down next to him.

"morning Y/n" he smiled at you as you took a bite of your toast.

you and Gilbert were good friends, but there was definitely more going on between you two and everyone knew it. even you two knew, but neither of you had the guts to act on it.

"Y/n here's your bag. there's some money inside." your mother said handing you your bag.

"thanks" you mumbled finishing your breakfast. You stood up ready to leave as your mother turned towards you.

"be careful you two" she said before looking at Gilbert. "and Gilbert keep an eye on her" she said causing you to chuckle.

"mom we'll be fine" you said before kissing her cheek and getting your coat.

Gilbert followed you outside as he walked next to you. you were just enjoying each other's company while walking towards the train station.

Gilbert put his arm around you pulling you close. you look up to him and smile feeling your cheeks heat up.

when both get on a train as you sit down next to him. "I'm so tired," you said yawning.

Gilbert chuckled as he thought you looked adorable. "you can sleep for a few minutes if you like" he said and you nodded laying your head on his shoulder.

his heart started beating faster at your touch. he brought his hand up to your hair and played with it till you fell asleep. he just stared at you as the sunlight fell onto your face.

"you're breathtaking" he whispered underneath his breath so you wouldn't hear.

"Y/n we're here" he said nudging your shoulder. you woke up not knowing what year it was. you blinked a few times as you lifted your head from Gilbert's shoulder.

you followed him onto the station. "where do you need to go?" he asked putting his hand on your back leading you away from the train. "the pawn shop" you said looking around.

"it's over there" he said pointing at a small shop. "I have to go but I'll meet you back here in two hours?" he said giving you a smile.

"two hours?" you asked while widening your eyes. "I'm not gonna wait that long I'll come and find you when I'm done" You said causing Gilbert to chuckle.

"okay but be careful" he said as he kissed your cheek.

"bye Gil" you said as you waved at him. he waved back and started walking in the direction of the doctor's office. he smiled at the nickname you gave him as he felt his cheeks turn a light shade of pink.

You walked over to the pawn shop. you started looking around for your mother's necklace. when you found it it was about half an hour later. you quickly paid for it and got out of the shop.

outside the sun was shining as you started walking towards the doctors office. you smiled as you saw Gilbert walking around.

"hey Gil" you said with a small smile. he turned his head in your direction as his eyes lit up when he saw you.

"hey Y/n, did you find whatever you were looking for?" he asked walking over to you and kissed your cheek. you blushed lightly as you nodded.

"can I help you with something?" you asked tilting your head a little to the side.

"I need to clean some stuff but I could use some help." he said scratching his neck.

you followed him into a different room and helped him clean. "what even is this" you chuckled as you held up some sort of tool.

"I don't know, I've never seen Dr. Ward use it" he said chuckling.

you looked at the smile on his face. he looked absolutely adorable. you noticed you were staring at eachother and you cleared your throat.

Gilbert quickly looked back down as he started cleaning again. when you were finished he walked into some room to say goodbye to Dr. Ward. after that you both walked out.

"when is the last train leaving?" you asked as you linked your arm with Gilbert's.

"in an hour," he said smiling at your touch.

"good because I'm starving and there's a bakery over there" you said dragging him along with you towards the bakery.

he chuckled as he gladly followed you. he pulled a chair back for you to sit down. you smiled thinking about how adorable he looked.

he sat down across from you as you ordered a cup of tea and a piece of apple pie. Gilbert ordered the same.

you both stared at each other until the food and drinks arrived.

you immediately took a bite. "hmm this is good" you said with your mouth full.

Gilbert looked at you with sparkling eyes as he thought you looked cute. he wanted this day to never end.

after you both finished your food and drinks you just chatted.

"Y/n... I was hoping we could do this again sometime. I enjoy your company" he smiled at you as you nodded.

"of course" you said returning his smile. you stared at eachother in silence until he suddenly widened his eyes.

"We have to go or we'll miss the last train" he said standing up. your eyes shot up towards the clock and you quickly stood up.

Gilbert took your hand and dragged you out of the bakery as you both ran towards the station.

"all aboard!" you heard someone yell as Gilbert quickly hopped on. you suddenly noticed your bag wasn't on your shoulder.

you started looking around. "Gilbert I forgot my bag" you say slightly panicking when he yelled at you to hop on.

"what?" he said as he looked around the station.

"I can't leave without my bag." you say.

"we can't miss this train!" he yelled.

"all aboard final call" you heard in the distance.

"Gilbert!" you yelled. he looked around and sighed as he hopped of the train.

"seriously Y/n!?" he said annoyed. "now we can't get back home!" he ran his fingers through his hair as the train left behind him.

"Im sorry but I can't leave my bag here" you said slightly annoyed by his yelling.

"How can you be so stupid to just leave it!" he looked at you while you frowned at his mean words.

"this isn't all my fault!" you yelled back at him.

he raised his eyebrows. "so it's my fault that you forgot your bag?" he asked.

"I never said that!" you yelled.

he sighed and scratched his neck. "We'll have to get a hotel room" he said starting to walk back towards the bakery.

you quickly grabbed your bag from under the table and checked your belongings. you didn't say a word as you and Gilbert walked towards the nearest hotel.

"how can I help you two?" the man behind the counter asked looking at you and Gilbert.

"we would both like a room." he said. the man nodded and gave you both a receipt.

you widened your eyes as you whispered to Gilbert. "I can't afford that" you had a panicked expression on your face.

Gilbert sighed. "we'll only be getting one room" he said to the man behind the counter. you handed back the receipt as the man was slightly annoyed.

Gilbert paid the man as he got a key handed to him. you took out your wallet and gave Gilbert half the amount of money from the room.

Gilbert didn't look at you as you both walked up the stairs. Gilbert unlocked the door and walked in. he sighed. "there's only one bed" he said not looking at you.

"oh" you said closing the door. you blushed as you knew you had to sleep with Gilbert next to you. you mentally scolded yourself for forgetting your bag and not taking more money with you.

It was almost time to get to sleep as you cleaned your face. Gilbert was sitting on the bed looking out the window.

you sighed. "I hope my mother doesn't get too worried" you say chuckling. Gilbert rolled his eyes.

you frowned. "are you really mad at me for forgetting my bag?" you asked as he looked up.

"yes. I just don't understand how you could be so stupid" he says with a frown. "You dragged me along with you before I could even think about my bag." you yell.

"Don't you dare blame this on me" he said with fire in his eyes.

"I'm not but you're being mean to me for forgetting something and stuff like that happens sometimes." you looked at him as you thought he was acting ridiculous.

"How am I being mean?" he asked frowning again.

"You called me stupid. twice. and you keep yelling and glaring at me." tears were forming in your eyes.

Gilbert's expression softed as he realized he hurt you. "I'm so sorry" he said standing up and laying a hand on your shoulder.

"I'm just a little freaked out by the situation" he said while he scratched his neck and looked over at the bed. "You see I planned out this whole day and then it didn't go as planned and I freaked out, I should've have reacted that way" he said as you squeezed his hand gently.

"it's okay Gil but we're fine I don't understand why you're freaking out it's not like we have to sleep on the streets" you said as you chuckled to lighten the mood.

"do you have any idea how terrifying it is to sleep next to the person you love?" he asked, immediately widening his eyes and throwing his hand in front of his mouth.

you gasped as you widened your eyes. "you love me?"

Gilbert started to panic as he tried to say something. "I uhh I can't... I can't believe I just... I just said that..." he stuttered while his face flushed red.

you took his hands and squeezed them gently. "I love you too Gil" you said letting go of one of his hands to cup his face.

you let your fingers trace his cheek as he shivered under your touch. he blushed as he looked at you with his heart eyes. he put his hand on your waist pulling you closer as he stared at your lips slowly leaning in.

his lips collided with yours as you softly ran your fingers through his hair. fireworks of emotions exploded in your stomach as Gilbert deepened the kiss.

you needed to break away for air as Gilbert looked at you with a grin on his face. his eyes were sparkling as he held on to your waist. he wrapped his other arm aroud your waist as well as you wrapped both your arms around his neck.

"my mother is going to kill you," you whispered as you chuckled.

"worth it."

Your heart started beating faster as your husband Gilbert walked into the room. He didn't seem to notice how nervous you are since he was smiling and softly humming a song.

"Gilbert we need to talk" you said trembling.

he looked at you confused and worried. "what's wrong?" he asked while quickly sitting down next to you taking your hand in his.

you squeezed it lightly. "please don't be mad at me" you say with tears in your eyes.

Gilbert hated to see you cry. he pulled you into a tight embrace. "what happened" he asked while he thought about all the possible scenarios.

she didn't cheat right? no she would never. but why would I be mad at her?

Gilbert's heart was now pounding in his chest afraid to get his heart broken because he loved you so much.

"I'm so sorry Gilbert. I mean we're so young and you are going to medical school and..." you started panicking as Gilbert squeezed your hand.

"breathe Y/n" he said trying to calm you down. "now tell me what's going on" he looked into your eyes and stroked your cheek. he was so confused he had no idea why you were panicking like this.

"I-I'm p-pregnant."

Gilbert froze, his eyes lit up and a huge smile appeared on his face. as he hugged you tight.

you were really confused by his reaction. "a-aren't you mad? or disappointed?" you asked while Gilbert was still squeezing you tight.

he pulled away. "why would I be mad or disappointed?" he asked not able to stop smiling.

"because you'll be going to medical school and I don't wanna hold you back." you said on the verge of tears.

Gilbert pulled you in for another hug. "we'll figure it out, and I would never blame this on you, love, it's a decision we both made," he said comforting you. he rubbed circles on your back as you buried your head into his neck. he kissed your head softly.

"Gilbert I'm scared" you said tears were now rolling down your face.

Gilbert pulled away and wiped the tears of your face. he looked into your teary eyes. "me too Y/n but we'll figure it out together I promise" he whispered in your ear.

you held onto Gilbert shoulders and cried into his neck. he slowly started rubbing circles over your back again while humming softly. you calmed down a little and pulled away slowly.

"aren't you happy?" Gilbert asked. "I mean we're gonna be parents" he picked you up and spun you around causing you to giggle.

"I hadn't really thought of it like that," you said as you felt relieved. you had only been worrying about Gilbert's reaction and your future and didn't think about how happy you could be starting your own family.

Gilbert had the biggest grin on his face. "I'm gonna be a dad!" he yelled just before crashing his lips on yours passionately.

suddenly the door swung open revealing bash and Delphine. "What did you just say?" Bash asked with wide eyes.

Gilbert looked over at Bash with a wide smile and sparkling eyes.

"Y/n's pregnant!" he yelled. he danced around in the room spinning you around in his arms causing you to laugh. you felt so lucky to have him.

"Congratulations!" Sebastian said now smiling wide. "I'm gonna be an uncle"

you chuckled as you wiped the tears falling from your eyes away. this time tears of happiness. you were gonna be a mother!

"we gotta think about baby names! do you think it will be a boy or a girl? I can't wait!" Gilbert yelled squeezing you tight again. Bash was chuckling as he looked at your face.

"Gilbert would you calm down I can't breath" you chuckled as he let you go.

"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited!" he said before rambling on. "I'm gonna take care of you while you're pregnant I'll be home as much as possible and I'll completely spoil you because you simply deserve it" he spun you around once more. "our baby will be good friends with delphine, that'd be so cute. I can't believe I'm actually gonna be a dad!" He squealed as a kid causing you to laugh as you wrapped your arms around his neck crashing your lips on his to shut him up.

Traveling Pt. 3

It's been another week of constant blushing, your cheeks were physically hurting at this point. it's really obvious you and Gilbert like each other everyone knows it. school is torture because off all the teasing from your classmates. you're now in that kind off state were you can barely keep yourself from grabbing his face and just kissing him. so you've been keeping your distance. 

right now it's Saturday. you're baking a pie while Gilbert and Sebastian are fixing a fence. normally you would help but it was so cold and you craved apple pie. the whole house smelt like cinnamon and it was cozy inside. outside there were little snowflakes falling to the ground. you put the pie in the oven and sat down at the kitchen table reading a book.

"we're back!" you heard Gilbert yell. "did you guys fix the fence?" you asked when Bash and Gilbert walked into the kitchen sitting across from you. "yea we did" Gilbert looked outside the window. "smells nice in here" Sebastian said with a grin on his face. "apple pie, and it's almost ready, I'll pour you guys some tea" you said while standing up and taking the pie out of the oven and cutting off three pieces. you put the plates on the table and poured tea. you sat down and saw Gilbert staring at you. you awkwardly smiled and felt your cheeks turn a light shade of pink as you looked into his sparkling eyes.

not again. not again.

"the pie is really good Y/n" Sebastian said causing you to snap out off your thoughts. "thank you" you said chuckling and you took a bite.

It was Gilbert's turn to make dinner tonight and you weren't looking forward to it. after all he was an awful cook. you were reading in the living room while bash sat across from you reading the paper. he suddenly broke the silence. "what's going on between you and Blythe?" he asked. you immediately turned red. "w-what do you mean?" you let out a nervous laugh causing Bash to chuckle. "you guys are always staring and blushing." he said. "no we're not" you said trying to hide you face. "your head over heels in love with him admit it" Bash said chuckling again. you sighed. "fine I am" you said looking down at the floor. "I knew it!" he practically yelled. "shh not that loud" you said with wide eyes causing Sebastian to laugh. "I won't tell a soul" he said.

"Blythe what even is this tasteless stuff I'm chewing on" Sebastian says frowning. Gilbert chuckles and shakes his head not even answering the question. you stare at him.

he's so cute when he chuckles.

Then suddenly you see Sebastian smirk at you. you turn away bright red knowing he caught you staring at Gilbert.

Later that night you couldn't sleep which happened a lot lately. you couldn't get Gilbert out of your head. you couldn't stand not being able to kiss his plump lips. you groaned. you didn't even know if Gilbert liked you back but you felt like he did. he would always blush when you looked at him which was adorable and he always gave you cute compliments. 

suddenly you heard a knock on your door causing you to jump and let out a little squeal. the door went open slowly revealing a tired Gilbert with messy hair. you chuckled feeling relieved that it was only Gilbert. "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you." he said walking in and closing the door behind him. you sat upright and lit a candle. your eyes sparkled with curiosity. "it's alright, what's wrong?" you asked while gesturing him to sit down next to you. "I uhm... I can't sleep" he says with furrowed eyebrows. you take his hand. "were you thinking about those memories again?" you ask with a small frown. you see Gilbert getting a bit nervous. "n-no I uhh... I was thinking a-about you" he says looking at you with a small frown on his face. you freeze and your expression softens. "I was thinking about you" you say almost whispering as you squeezed his hand. 

you leaned closer and so did Gilbert. your faces were inches away from each other and you could feel his warm breath on your face. you closed your eyes as your lips collided with Gilbert's. you felt fireworks in your stomach and a tingling sensation in your lips. he softly tugged your bottom lip and you slightly opened your mouth allowing his tongue in to deepen the kiss. he pulled you closer and fell backwards onto the bed dragging you with him. you fell on top of him and ran your fingers through his hair as he wrapped his hands around your waist. you kissed like that for what felt like hours and when you finally pulled away, there was a big grin on Gilbert's face causing you to chuckle. "god you're so cute" you say smiling at him. "I just love you so much" he says with sparkling eyes causing your heart to melt. "I love you too!" you basically squeal before hugging Gilbert tight and burying your head into his chest. you hear him chuckle as he presses a kiss on your head. he plays with your hair until you fall asleep on his chest.

the next morning you couldn't help but smile when you woke up in Gilbert's arms. he was still asleep and you listen to his soft snores. you kissed his nose and gently tugged his hair to wake him up. "Gilbert" you softly whispered in his ear. you could see his eyes open and when he saw you he immediately smiled. "morning" he said in a raspy voice before pecking your lips. "we should make breakfast." you say and you both get up. Gilbert wraps his arms around your waist and kisses your lips again. you pull away again and chuckle "go get dressed" you say and Gilbert pouts not letting you of your waist.

"Gilbert.." you chuckle. "that's not gonna work on me" you say while pushing him out the door. he chuckles. "it was worth a shot" he said before walking to his room. you quickly got dressed into a deep blue dress and went over to the kitchen to make breakfast. you made toast and cut a few apples in parts when you suddenly hear someone enter the kitchen. 

"Good morning y/n" Sebastian said sitting down. "Morning Bash!" you said excitedly. "woah what are you all happy about" Sebastian asked chuckling. "hmm" you didn't say anything and handed him a plate. "thanks Y/n you're the best" he said and started to eat. you went back to the apples. "so are you gonna tell me what you're so happy about or not?" Bash said chuckling again. "wellgilbertandimayormaynothavekissedyesterday" you said really quickly. "what was that?" Sebastian laughed. 

"what's so funny?" you turned around to see Gilbert standing there smiling as he looked at you. "Y/n is just very happy this morning" Sebastian said turning to Gilbert. you chuckled. "I see" Gilbert smirked at you and he walked over to you. he grabbed your face and smashed his lips on yours. "I KNEW IT" Bash yells and you pulled away chuckling. "Finally my ship has sailed" Bash said smiling causing you and Gilbert to laugh. Gilbert took your hand and stared into your eyes. "this is crazy, I mean we met as two boys on a ship and now this..." he said smiling. you smiled back "yea crazy" you said.

Traveling Pt. 2

it's been weeks no months since your first day. now that Gilbert knows your secret you feel more relaxed knowing he has you back but it also made your feelings for him grow stronger and there was this weird tension whenever you two were alone. you knew you were almost getting off of this ship. Gilbert, Sebastian and you decided to work on Gilbert's farm in Avonlea together. You looked forward to it and you were completely exhausted. you decided once you were in Avonlea you would tell Sebastian your secret as well.

You walked through Charlotte town with the wind in your hair. it had grown a little longer but it was still pretty short. you were on your way to your house to grab your stuff. all your dresses you finally got to wear again. Gilbert and Sebastian waited outside your house while you quickly packed all your things. you came down with two suitcases and a wide smile on your face. "What do you need all that stuff for? you seem like a woman" Sebastian chuckled. you laughed nervously and Gilbert gave you a look. He grabbed one of your suitcases and loaded it in the carriage he hired.

Gilbert and Sebastian went inside the carriage and you loaded in your other suitcase. you then took a seat next to Gilbert. "this will take a while" Gilbert chuckled and Bash groaned. "I better go to sleep then" Bash said before sitting more comfortable. the carriage started to ride and Bash started to doze off. the tension came back. it was comfortable but also awkward. it was a mix if confusing emotions. "I uhh I'm gonna sleep as well." you say looking at Gilbert. you laid against the side if the carriage feeling every single bump in the road.

you arrived at Gilbert's house. it was pretty big. you squealed and jumped out off the carriage. Gilbert chuckled. you grabbed both of your suitcases and Gilbert showed you and Bash your room. you put down your suitcases and went straight to the kitchen were Gilbert and Bash also were. you were a little nervous about telling Bash your secret and Gilbert noticed. he gave you a nod. "Sebastian I have to tell you something" you say with a nervous chuckle. he frowns and chuckles "well go ahead Tom"

"my name isn't Tom." you say. Sebastian frowns and chuckles "what do you mean?" "my name is Y/n and well, I'm a girl" you looked at him waiting for his reaction. he just laughed "I should've known with your high-pitched squeaking" you chuckle. you feel relieved that you finally told him and that he wasn't mad. "you knew about this Blythe?" he asks chuckling. "I did, I found out a while ago." Gilbert chuckles.

"I'm gonna change and then I'll make you guys some lunch," you say smiling. you walked over to your room and closed the door behind you. you opened your suitcase and you saw your corset. you groaned. you didn't look forward to wearing a corset again. you put on your corset and then a deep red dress with a matching hat. you tried styling your hair but it was still short. you put a small ribbon in your hair and went into the kitchen. Gilbert looked up and smiled. "you look great" he says and looks at you up and down. "thanks" you say chuckling. Gilbert's cheeks start to heat up. "I'll make lunch" you walk over to the groceries you guys bought earlier and made toast. "where's Bash?" you ask putting down a plate in front. "thank you Y/n" he smiles "and bash is unpacking" "I should unpack as well" you say and you walk out. "Y/n?" you turn around again to face Gilbert. "You really do look gorgeous" he says with a bright red face. "that's really sweet thanks" you say walking back to your room blushing heavily.

in the hall you bump into Bash. "oh sorry" you chuckle. "I made lunch it's on the kitchen table" you smile. "thank you, miss" he says chuckling before walking into the kitchen. "Blythe what are you doing looking like a tomato" you hear bash chuckle from the kitchen. you smile to yourself and start unpacking.

you were going to school tomorrow. you were really nervous but you were glad you had Gilbert. you were hoping nobody would make comments about your hair.

Living with Sebastian and Gilbert was great so far, dinner was nice, you guys talked and laughed the whole time and then you all went to bed early.

the next morning you got out off bed early and you put on a corset and a lavender dress. you put a small matching bow in your hair and you went the to kitchen to make breakfast. you were glad you could finally cook normal food again.

"Good morning" you turned around to see Gilbert smiling at you. his hair was messy and he looked really cute. "Bash is still sleeping. I'm not gonna wake him up" Gilbert says sitting down at the table. you hand him some breakfast and then sit down across from him. "Are you nervous?" you ask while taking a bite from your toast. "not really. you?" he asks running his finger through his hair making it look even more messy. "I'm really nervous" you say chuckling. "why?" Gilbert asks with a small frown. "well I'm a girl with short hair. nobody I've seen here has short hair" you say looking at your plate. "you'll be fine. you're smart and you're beautiful" he smiles causing you to blush. "thank you" you say quietly.

you take your last bite and put your empty plate in the sink. "we should go I don't wanna be late" you say and you walk out of the kitchen. Gilbert follows you after putting his plate away. you both put on your coats and walk out of the house into the cold winter air.

you shiver. "it's freezing" you say chuckling. he looks over at you and puts his arm around your shoulder. you feel your body tingling at his sudden touch and you start to warm up. the walk is silent but there was no awkward tension this time. it was comfortable. his arm around you and just walking, enjoying the sound of nature. when you approached the schoolhouse you saw no one. you weren't surprised you wouldn't wanna be out in the cold either. Gilbert pulled his arm away and opened the door for you. "you can hang up your coat over there." he said smiling. you hung up your coat and walked into the classroom with Gilbert.

"Gilbert!" all the boys yelled and started asking him questions. it was awkward and you looked around seeing a group of four girls look at you. you smiled at them and three of them smiled back.

"and this is my friend Y/n" you snapped your head towards Gilbert at the sound if your name. you smiled at the group of boys. "Nice to meet you guys" "Nice to meet you too Y/n" a few mumbled back. then everyone's attention went to the back of the class. you heard whispers and you turned around to see a redheaded girl with short hair walk into the classroom. you smiled at her and she looked at you with wide eyes. "hey I'm Anne. with an e" she said smiling and looking at your hair. you chuckled. so this was Anne. "I'm Y/n nice to meet you" you smiled again. Anne's eyes grew wide as she looked past you. "Gilbert, you're back" she said. "yea" he smiled and stood next to you. "good to see you" he said.

"students take a seat and open your readers at page 20" you turned around and saw the teacher walk over to the blackboard. you took a seat next to a girl with dark hair and a light blue dress. you quickly looked over at Gilbert and he smiled at you his cheeks were a light shade of pink. you smiled back feeling your cheeks heat up as well.

"I see we have two new boys in class" Mr Phillips said grinning. you frowned. what a prick. "what's your name?" he asked and he pointed at you. "Y/n L/n, sir, and I think you should start with your lesson, instead of making fun of your students, you"re not five are you?" you said in an irritated tone you looked at Gilbert to see his wide eyes, he was suppressing a chuckle. The whole class was snickering and Mr. Phillips glared at you. "don't talk back, since it's your first day I'll let it slide."

you felt very uncomfortable the rest of the lesson, everyone had their eyes on you, but that was your own fault. you looked over at Gilbert every once in a while and he'd smile at you causing you to feel better. at lunch you went over to Gilbert and some of his friends. Gilbert smiled at you and you sat with them.

"Mr Phillips is an idiot. you don't look like a boy at all." one of the boys said. "thanks" you said giving him a weak smile. Gilbert took your hand. "are you okay? He had no right to make fun of you like that, you're lucky he didn't punish you" you chuckled. "I'm fine. and I don't regret cutting my hair off" you say. the boys frowned. "why did you cut it off" one of them asked. "long story" you said and Gilbert started laughing. "I'll tell them"

Gilbert told them the whole story.

"so wait you pretended to be a boy so you could work on a ship" on of the boys almost screamed "why would you as a woman wanna work on a filthy ship" you turn around to see a blonde girl staring at you with raised eyebrows. she looked absolutely ridiculous. "uhm, so I could travel, duh" I say frowning at her. "ew" she said and turned around. you raised you eyebrows. "that's Josie you shouldn't mind her" Gilbert said squeezing your hand.

you looked around and saw Anne and the girl that sat next to you in class talking in a corner. "I'm gonna talk to Anne" you said letting go of Gilbert's hand. "I'll see you after school" he said smiling. then he put his focus back on his friends.

"Hey" you walked up to the anne. "hey Y/n." she smiled. you smiled back and looked over at the other girl. "I'm Y/n L/n. it's nice to meet you" you put out your hand and she shook it. "nice to meet you too. I'm Diana Barry" you smiled at her. "why do you have short hair?" Anne asked. "oh well uhm..." you told them the whole story and Diana looked at you with wide eyes. "there's no way you did that!" you chuckle. "That must have been such a thrilling adventure!" Anne says with a smile on her face. "it was" you say chuckling. you felt someone tap your shoulder. you turned around to face Josie. "You should stay away from Gilbert Blythe" she said. you frowned. "that's gonna be a little hard." you said chuckling. "why's that?" she asked crossing her arms. "well because I live with him" you laughed and she widened her eyes. she scoffed and walked away. "what's her problem?" you asked still chuckling. "Ruby believes she has dibs on Gilbert" Anne said. "who's ruby?" you asked looking over to the girls. "the smallest one" Diana said. "is she crying?" you asked frowning. "probably" Anne said.

after school you and Gilbert walk home together. he has is arm around you again and you feel butterflies everywhere. "so how was your day?" Gilbert asks. you chuckle. "confusing, Josie literally told me to stay away from you" you say laying your head on his shoulder. Gilbert chuckles. "I saw you with Anne and Diana, are you friends with them?" he asks slowly rubbing his hand on your shoulder. you feel your skin tingling. "uh y-yea" you say smiling at Gilbert. you guys walk on in silence. every once in a while you would smile at each other and then you would both turn bright red. "you're cute when you're blushing" he suddenly blurts out. you look at him feeling your cheeks heat up once again. "well so do you" you say chuckling.

You sit down on the couch next to Gilbert while he's reading a book. Sebastian is making dinner and you just finished cleaning your room. "what are you reading?" you ask. "medical stuff" he says and he gives you a small smile before looking back at his book. you lay your head on his shoulder and read along with him. you look at his messy hair. "can i play with your hair?" you ask. Gilbert chuckles "sure" "yay" you squeal causing Gilbert to chuckle more. you run you finger through his fluffy hair. and see that he's blushing. the door swings open and Sebastian walks in. "Dinner's ready!" he freezes and looks at you and Gilbert "are you guys a couple now?" he asks chuckling.

haha I wish.

"no" you say chuckling. "I just like his messy hair" Gilbert chuckles as well and he puts his book away. "you two sure look like a couple" Sebastian says chuckling. you see that Gilbert's bright red and you chuckle. you both stand up and walk into the kitchen to eat dinner.

you wake up in the middle of the night hearing footsteps. you get up from your bed and walk into the hall. you see light coming from the living room. you slowly open the door while you're shivering from the cold. you see Gilbert standing in front off the window. "Can't sleep?" you ask causing him to turn around. you look at the candle light reflecting in his eyes and you notice he's crying. "hey what's wrong?" you ask rushing over to him. "it's nothing" he says wiping his tears. "if it makes you cry it's not nothing" you say pulling him into a hug. tears flowing down his face soaking your nightgown. "please talk to me" you whisper in his ear slowly rubbing his back. "just old memories" he says squeezing you tight. you slowly pull away from the embrace and his cheek brushes against yours. you look at him your faces only inches apart. his gaze flickers to your lips for a second. you take a small step back and Gilbert awkwardly clears his throat. "you should get some sleep, you look tired" you say giving him a small smile. "yea I probably should" he says looking at you. "If you wanna talk I'm always here for you" you say with a small frown. "thank you" he says giving you a smile. "good night" you say and you kiss his cheek. "g-good night" Gilbert says while his cheeks turn pink. you wipe his last tear and walk back into your room closing the door and laying back down.

the next morning you walk into the kitchen to see Gilbert sitting at the table eating an apple. "morning" you smile and he turns his head in your direction. "morning" he says with an adorable smile. "did you get any sleep last night?" you ask while grabbing an apple and sitting down across from him. "yea I slept pretty well" he says taking a bite. "good, want me to make you some toast?" you ask. "no thanks I'm not that hungry" he says finishing his apple. "we're also pretty late so we should get going" he says standing up and walking out. you finish your apple and follow him. "is Bash still asleep?" you ask while putting on your coat. "yea he's really tired. he can't sleep because off the cold" Gilbert says chuckling.

you both walk out the door on your way to school. "it's still freezing isn't it" Gilbert says putting his arm around you again causing your heart to flutter. the walk is quiet yet comfortable but your whole body tingles every time his hand slowly rubs your shoulder.

"I wanna say sorry for waking you up last night" he suddenly says. you frown. "you don't have to apologize, please don't ever hesitate to wake me up if you need someone" you say and you stop walking. you wrap your arms around him and he pulls you close squeezing you tight. "honestly Y/n you're the best" he says under his breath and you stroke his hair. "come on we're late" you say while walking on. his hand brushes against yours causing you to blush. Gilbert smile at you. "what are you smiling at" you ask chuckling. "you're just so cute when you're blushing" he says with an even cuter smile causing you to blush even harder. "you said that yesterday" you say looking at your feet. "because it's true."

you approach the school and Gilbert opens the door for you. you chuckle. "quit being such a gentleman" you say nudging his shoulder. "but you love it" he says chuckling.

you smile and shake your head before walking to your desk with a bright red face. you quickly take a seat next to Diana and bury your face in your hands.

class was boring. Mr Phillips was teaching in his usual monotone voice and Gilbert was staring at you the whole time. you couldn't stop blushing. you felt like your cheeks were on fire every time you glanced over at him because he would always smile or wink at you and he was adorable.

when it was finally lunch you dragged Diana and Anne to the corner of the classroom. "Guys I need help" you whisper. "with what" Diana asks with a small frown. "are you okay? your face is very red." "yea that's the problem. Gilbert keeps making me blush." you say and Anne chuckles. "he's staring at you right now" Anne whispers. you look behind you to see his sparkling hazel eyes. he smiles at you and you can feel the heat rushing into your cheeks once again. you smile back and quickly look away. Diana laughs "you have a crush on him don't you?" "yea, and very big one" you say scratching your neck.

Traveling Pt. 1

You wiped of your trousers and looked at yourself in the mirror. you looked down at the hair you had just cut off. you wanted to work on a ship so you could travel and experience this kind off work but as a girl it wasn't possible. so you decided to make yourself look like a boy. it was hard for you to look like a boy but you found a way to properly cover up your feminine curves. you couldn't wait to go on this adventure. you had packed your stuff and you were planning to start working tomorrow. you went to bed and tried to fall asleep but you were way to excited to sleep. you were also a bit nervous you had no idea what they'd do if they found out you were a girl.

stop it. I'm going to be fine. I'm going to live my dream and travel.

the next morning you got up early. you made breakfast with shaking hands off excitement. after breakfast you grabbed your stuff and walked out of your small home.

The first day on the ship was rough. you had to work really hard but you didn't mind. you weren't afraid of getting your hands dirty but when you were finally able to get to your hammock you were exhausted. you were started to doze off as a boy next to you started singing. "Oh when I was a little boy my mother always told me.."

you knew that song. your parents used to sing it. you chuckled and decided to sing along in a deep voice. "way haul away, we'll haul away, Joe!" you both laughed and a man not too far away groaned. "it's been hours of this. Fireman isn't the only one who don't appreciate that song" the man said. "I was just joking around" the boy next to you said. "well don't" the other man said. you were a little confused what was so bad about joking around. "you're right, you're right, fireman's an easy target." the boy said "that's not why" "what's eating you?" you asked and the man looked over to you. "I've been trimmer for ten years, more. this is all I have. I can't move up, this is it for me. and there ain't nothing for me on dry land" you immediately felt guilty. he continued "you're white boys, you've got options. you are tourists. I need this, don't lose this work for me, understand?" he said while you looked at him with a painful expression. you nodded and looked over at the boy next to you. "yeah" he said and he laid back down in his hammock. "yeah I'm sorry" you said also laid back down feeling really guilty. "and you two don't sing worth a damn" the man said causing you to chuckle. "says you" the boy said also chuckling. after that it was quiet. you almost immediately dozed off.

the past days were exhausting. you had worked really hard all the time but it was all worth it because to day you were going to Trinidad! you had grown closer to the boy next to you. his name was Gilbert and the man called Bash. you told them you name was Tom. it was all really confusing for you but you enjoyed it nevertheless. Bash was born in Trinidad and with all his stories you couldn't wait to explore with them.

You walked over the market with them and you were amazed by all the exotic foods and interesting people. you were starving but you weren't able to eat anything. Bash wouldn't let you, saying we needed a taste off the best in Trinidadian bush medicine

"mommy'd say "bash come for a taste" and I'd tip my head back and she'd feed me a spoonful. I can almost taste it now sliding down my throat like spicy green medicine" he said "sounds delicious" you and Gilbert said both at the same time. "oh it was," bash said. "but it was always just the one taste and then she'd serve the family. and I'd be given the scraps that were left" "why didn't you eat with the family?" Gilbert asks slightly confused. "wasn't my family" bash replied. you frowned "who's family was it?" you asked. "the white family she worked for L/n" Bash said and you looked at him "I feel like an idiot I'm sorry" you said. "don't be. still got more flavor from one spoon than you've had in you whole life," he said chuckling. you chuckled as well. "now let's go, you two still need some medicine," he said before fastening his pace.

Bash walked in front off you and you walked next to Gilbert. you looked over at him looking at his soft curls. he looked over at you and you quickly looked away blushing slightly. he was so handsome.

snap out of it Y/n!

You guys walked for what seemed like hours. you were constantly talking about everything and nothing and your feelings for Gilbert started to grow stronger every minute.

"You traded this for a boiler room?" Gilbert asks while walking up to a beautiful and huge house. "to trade you got to have a choice" Bash says. suddenly you hear horses not far away. Bash quickly pushes you into the bushes and you fall over onto Gilbert.

crap.

you laugh and get off of him. you're now blushing and you try to hide it by looking away. Gilbert looks at you a bit weirdly. you look at him and he looks away he's blushing as well.

crap does he know?

when the coast is clear you guys walk on. every once in a while you look over at Gilbert. he looks a little confused making you nervous.

You guys walk up to a lady you assume is bash's mother. you and Gilbert stand behind Bash and you look at the lady. she suddenly notices you. "Sebastian! boy you tryna kill me?" she says "anybody see you?" bash slowly shakes his head. "come, come," the lady says gesturing to Bash and he walks over. they hug each other and the lady quickly pulls away when she notices you and Gilbert. "who are these boys you bring here looking like a wet fowl" she says looking back at Bash. "what name they christen you?" she says looking at you and Gilbert. "uh Gilbert Blythe ma'am" Gilbert says and you follow him "Tom L/n ma'am" you give her a small smile. "well I never, you two must be the first to ever call me ma'am" she says. "where you from?" "Prince Edward island, Canada" you and Gilbert both say at the same time. you give Gilbert a small smile.

you found out he lived in Avonlea that's not to far away from your home in Charlotte Town.

"They don't feed you on that boat?" she asks and she looks at you up and down. you chuckle. "Sebastian has promised us the best in Trinidadian bush medicine" Gilbert says. "I see" she looks at Bash before walking inside.

"Sebastian is so much more elegant than bash" Gilbert says slowly shaking his head. "hush your mouth" Bash says and you and Gilbert chuckle. she comes back outside with three plates full of delicious looking food. "I just made it, my mind told me I might soon get to see my one son," Gilbert sits down at the table and a little boy runs towards you. "Hazel!" he yells and he runs into her arms. you chuckle at the little kid. "is he stealing?" he asks and he points at Sebastian. "No doux-doux, remember Jesus say we have to help people. the men just hungry" she says causing you to frown a little and look over at Bash. "okay you have your food" she says. "uhh.. we could come back tomorrow?" Bash says. you start to feel a little uncomfortable and you give Gilbert a look. "nah that's enough charity, you come here again you're looking for trouble" she says and she walks back into the house. you just stand there. Gilbert stands up and grabs his plate. so do you and Bash. Bash walks away and you follow him.

that night back in your hammock you can't sleep. you stare at the ceiling. "Bash do you wanna talk about it" you hear Gilbert say causing you to sit up. "Bash I know you're not asleep your eyes are open" he says "Sebastian?" "your born name is Sebastian?" you hear a man a few hammocks away say. "you sound like you should own this boat. and here I thought Bash meant you like to rough a feller up, good to know" the man says and he chuckles. "you have ruined my reputation. I could hit you two tap myself" Bash says. "There was this girl back in Avonlea, Anne, one time I called her carrots and she wacked me over the head" "I give her right on that" you say chuckling "she's a redhead, fiery temper" he says chuckling to himself. you feel a weird feeling in your stomach. "she should've done more than wack you" Bash says causing you to chuckle again. "I wonder if I'll ever see her again" Gilbert says. "how long are you planning to stay on this ship?" Bash asks. "I don't know" Gilbert says "I wanna go wherever the spirit moves me, that's what my dad used to say" you give Gilbert a small smile. "I feel like we'll be cracking coal forever, like them pistons in the engine always going and going and going nowhere. I'm trapped here" Bash says looking at the ceiling. "I felt trapped in Avonlea" Gilbert sighs. you just keep listening to the conversation. you felt trapped back home as well but you could never tell anyone why. "If I go back home I might never be able to leave" Gilbert says looking down. "boy you call that a problem? some of us ain't have no home" the other man says. you slowly lay back down. you feel a little guilty.

Bash lays back down to fall asleep and you look over at Gilbert. you admire his soft features and then try to go to sleep. for what seems like hours you stare at the ceiling. everyone is asleep already. or so you thought.

"Tom?" Gilbert says looking at you. "yea" you look over at him wondering what he wants to talk about in the middle of the night. "are you pretending to be a boy?" Gilbert whispers. you freeze. he noticed. "I uhh- yes" you whisper back "how did you-" "well you fell on top of me and I could feel well... you know" He says and you turn bright red. "why?" he asks sitting back up. "you can't work on this ship as a girl" you say also sitting back up"I know but why do you wanna work here so bad that you pretend to be a boy" he asks chuckling. "We all have our reasons. I just wanted to experience more off the world" you say looking at him. "what happened that you needed to leave so bad?" he asks and he gives you a small smile. "I lived alone with my grandmother. my parents left me with her. she passed away not too long ago so I'm alone now" you say fighting against your tears. Gilbert notices he sticks out his hand and you take it. he softly rubs his thumb over you fingers, you feel butterflies in your stomach and you feel your cheeks heat up. you don't mind because it's dark. you calm down a little and turn your head towards Gilbert . "you should know my name is Y/n L/n" you say chuckling. "Nice to meet you" Gilbert says chuckling as well. he lays back down not letting go of your hand. you do the same. you both fall asleep holding hands.

It was morning and you didn't like the fact that you had to go to school today. you had to face your crush and best friend, Gilbert. yesterday he had walked you home and you accidentally told him you that thought he was very handsome. it was so embarrassing and you didn't think you were able to look him in the eye, especially because of that stupid smirk and all his teasing. however you knew that was just because he was blushing. but since he is your only friend, today is definitely gonna be awkward.

"Dad I'm of for school!" you yelled before grabbing your coat. "Bye sweetheart have fun!"

you quickly made you way to school. Gilbert usually walked with you but he was nowhere to be seen.

You felt tears welling up in your eyes. you ruined the only friendship you had because of some stupid crush. tears were now streaming down your face. you mentally scolded yourself for being so stupid. when you reached the school house you saw that you were late.

I left on time did I?

everyone was inside already. you quickly went in closing the door behind you. you took of your coat and quickly walked to your desk. your eyes met Gilbert's he looked concerned.

crap I didn't wipe my tears.

you quickly looked away and wiped your tears. you sat down next to Diana. she looked at you with a soft expression but she didn't say anything which wasn't very surprising, you two weren't friends.

you felt Gilbert's eyes on you during the entire lesson and it was torture. you looked at him a couple times and every single time he was staring at you. always with a concerned frown and a soft smile. you heard people whisper things. everyone had seen you crying.

When it was finally lunchtime you jumped up from your seat and ran outside. you sat by the stream and tears were rolling down your face again. "Y/n what's wrong?" you looked up to see Gilbert standing in front of you. "Gilbert please go away." you said with a broken voice. it broke his heart to see you like this. "you can talk to me Y/n. you're my best friend"

"I don't wanna talk about it. please go" you said and you looked down again. Gilbert looked at you with a frown. "okay. but I'm here for you Y/n" he said before walking off. you started sobbing even harder. you felt a hand on your shoulder. "Gilbert go away please" you said not even bothering to look up. "Y/n" you looked up. that wasn't Gilbert. you looked up to see Diana."what's wrong" she asked and she sat down. "I-" you couldn't get the words out. "what's going on between you and Gilbert" she asks. you look at her. "I totally ruined everything. I just can't be around him anymore" you say sniffling. "why not" she looks confused. "because... I have feelings for him" you say feeling a little embarrassed. you're not quite sure why you're talking to Diana about this but it feels nice to get it of your chest. "oh" she says and she lays her hand on your shoulder. "I totally ruined the only friendship I had." you say and you look at her. "I'll be your friend" she smiles at you softly. you look up. "thank you but you don't wanna be my friend" "yes I do!" she says and you smile. you hug her. "thank you Diana."you pull away from the hug and see that Gilbert is staring at you. he looks confused and hurt.

** Gilbert pov

Why are Diana and Y/n talking, since when are they even friends? and why isn't she talking to me? did I say something? why would she talk to Diana instead of me? I'm supposed to be her best friend.

school day is over. you haven't said another word to Gilbert but he keeps looking at you with this sad expression on his face.

maybe I should talk to him. see what's bothering him.

you see Gilbert quickly walk out of the school. you grab your coat and run after him. "Gilbert wait!" you yell. he turns around. he's crying. "Y/n.." he speaks quietly and his voice sounds hurt. "why are you crying?" you ask and you go up to hug him but he dodges you. "Gilbert..." "Y/n aren't we supposed to be best friends? what happened. what did I do wrong?" tears roll down his face and you're now crying too. "you did nothing wrong Gilbert" you say with a soft expression. "then why are you avoiding me?" he asks calmly and he stares into your eyes. your heart starts beating fast. "b-because... I have feelings for you" Gilbert widened his eyes. "y-you what?" "just forget about it." you say and you run away. you don't wanna screw this up even more. "Y/n!" you can hear him come after you but you keep running. you dont want to embarrass yourself even more. you look behind you. no sign of Gilbert. you stop running and fall to the ground sobbing.

I just ruined everything!

you still hear Gilbert calling you in the distance but you're exhausted. you had almost no sleep at night and you're so stressed and tired of hiding your feelings. you feel a hand on your shoulder. "Y/n." Gilbert wraps his arms around you and he kisses your forehead. you try to get out of his grip. "Y/n please don't" he says trying to keep you close. "Don't play with my feelings like that!" you let out a sob. "don't hold me and kiss me like that when all I am to you is a friend." you get out of his grip and start running again. when you finally reach your house you run up the stairs and into your room slamming the door shut behind you. you fall onto your bed and burst out crying. you just lay there crying for hours. at some point you fell asleep without even eating dinner.

The next morning you wake up feeling like you hadn't slept at all. you're eyes are still puffy and you have no intentions of getting out of your bed. you hear footsteps on the stairs. your door slowly swings open revealing your concerned father. "Sweetheart you need to get up it's time for school." he says walking closer to your bed. "what happened?" he asks. "I know you would always talk to your mother about things-" "dad please.""is this about mom?" he looks at you with a sad frown. "no. but I miss her" you look at your dad. why did he have to bring up mom? your mother had passed almost a year ago now and you could always talk to her about everything. "I do too honey" your dad lays a hand on your shoulder. "why don't you talk to Gilbert about what's bothering you?" he asks"I can't" you say tears forming in your eyes again. "why not sweetheart?" He asks confused. "because this is about Gilbert" you say quietly it's almost a whisper. you stand up from your bed. "what happened?" your dad is now even more confused knowing that Gilbert would never hurt you. "I don't wanna talk about it. I'll get dressed and then I'll make breakfast" you say walking over to your closet. "okay sweetheart. are you going to school?" he asks before walking out. "yes I need to talk to Diana" you say picking out your favorite red dress from your closet. "Diana? Diana Barry?" "yea we're friends now" you said and your father frowned closing the door on his way downstairs to the kitchen.

you put on your dress and tied a matching ribbon in your hair. you looked in the mirror. your dress matched your red puffy eyes. you went downstairs and made yourself breakfast. your father didn't say anything. you didn't blame him he was never much of a talker.

"I'm off for school!" you said walking out off the kitchen. "bye sweetheart" you heard him say. you put on your coat and quickly walked through the forest. "Y/n wait up" you froze in your tracks. Gilbert. was he serious right now. he put his hand on your shoulder and you flinched. you looked at him and he immediately looked concerned. probably because of how tired and sad you looked. you ran away from him to find Diana. "Diana!" you walk up to the school house and see Diana standing there with her friends. you feel a little uncomfortable because all the girls look at you. "hey Y/n... Oh my what happened" she says as she studies your face. "can I talk to you. you know in private" you ask giving her a soft smile while slowly walking a bit further away from everyone. "of course" she says. she excuses herself from her friends and walks over to you. "what happened?" she asks with a concerned expression. "I told him" you say looking at the floor. "I told him and he played with my feelings" you say fighting against your tears again. "what did he do?" Diana hugs you tight and you cry into her shoulder. "he hugged me and then kissed my forehead, but I know he only sees me as a friend" you say pulling away from the hug. "did he say that?" she asks and before you could answer you hear someone talk behind you.

"no I didn't" you quickly turn around to face Gilbert. he looks over at Diana who takes the hint and walks away. "Y/n I'm so sorry I hurt you" Gilbert takes both your hands. you're confused at what he's saying and you frown. "what?" you say looking at your hands."I never meant to hurt you Y/n. I love you, as more than a friend" he says and he pulls you into a hug. he squeezes you tight and you hug him back. you're crying again and you don't know why. you hold on to his shoulders for what seems like eternity. "I love you too Gilbert. so much" you whisper in his ear. he pulls away and smiles at you. you smile back with sparkling eyes. you haven't had that sparkle for a long time and it made Gilbert chuckle. you feel relieved knowing that you didn't ruin anything. and that Gilbert Likes you back!! Gilbert takes your hands and presses a kiss on them. "so are we dating now?" you ask. Gilbert chuckles and he pulls you close. "yes we are"

I have to run an errand" she asks a little concerned. "Ill be fine mom I can take care of myself" you chuckled and your mother gave you a small smile. "I'll see you in the evening" she said before kissing your forehead and walking out. you finished your breakfast and went back to sleep.

about two hours later you suddenly heard a knock on the door. you groaned and got out of bed. you threw the blanket to the side while you walked out of your room only wearing your nightgown. you walked down the stairs annoyed and shivering from the cold floor.

you slowly opened the door. your face immediately lit up when you saw your boyfriend Gilbert Blythe standing in front of you. he looked worried and he was soaking wet because of the rain. "Y/n are you okay?"  he asked as he stepped inside. "I ran into your mother and she told me you were sick so I immediately came" he said. "I'm fine it's just a cold" you said while Gilbert took of his coat. "what are you doing?" you ask chuckling. before he could answer you sneezed. Gilbert chuckled as he thought your little sneeze was cute. "you should go Gilbert or you'll get sick as well." you said "I dont care. I'm taking care of you wether you like it or not" he said grinning he pecked your cheek before walking into the kitchen. "I'll make you some soup, go lay down" he took both your hands and kissed your forehead as he started cooking. "Gilbert you really don't have to do this" you chuckled. "yes I do, I'll do anything for my girl" he smiled and squeezed your hand. "please, just go to bed" he said when you sniffled he pressed another kiss on your face, this time on your red nose. you blushed and nodded as you headed upstairs.

you looked into the mirror to see you looked an absolute mess. you sighed and laid back down as your head started spinning.

a few minutes later Gilbert rushed into your room with soup and handed it to you with a spoon. you took a few sips. "hmm this is delicious" you smiled as he sat down on your bed stroking your leg with his fingers. "glad you like it" he smiled bright. when you finished your soup he wrapped you up in blankets pressing kisses all over you face causing you to giggle. He loved it when you giggled he thought it was one of the cutest things ever.

he took your empty bowl and went downstairs to do the dishes. "Gilbert you don't have to do that" you said. "stop saying that Y/n I'm just being a good boyfriend" he walked down after giving you one last kiss.

he quickly finished the dishes and went back upstairs to find you out of bed you were standing in front of your window watching the rain outside. Gilbert stared at you as you turned your head around. he blushed slightly when you caught him staring. "Y/n... you should be sleeping" you looked up. "laying in bed all day is boring" you said pouting. Gilbert chuckled and wrapped his arms around you. "even when I'm here to cuddle with you?" he pressed a kiss on your cheek. he picked you up and carried you over to the bed. he tickled you causing you to burst out in laughter. he then laid down next to you wrapping the blankets around you both while he squeezed you tight. "get some rest princess" he whispered in your ear while playing with your hair. you look up at him as he pressed a few more kisses onto your face causing you to giggle.

Gilbert pressed his lips on yours and you quickly pushed him away. "no Gil you'll get sick" you say. he pouted "please?" he looked at you with puppy dog eyes and you chuckled. "I don't want you to get sick" you said tracing your fingers on his face moving up to his fluffy curls. "I don't care I want my daily kisses" he said pouting again. you chuckled. "fine but if you'll get sick it's your own fault" you said now running your fingers through his hair. "I'll probably get sick anyway. I walked here in the pouring rain" he said while kissing your lips again. this time you kissed back slowly tugging his curls. after a few seconds you sadly had to pull away for breathing. Gilbert smiled at you while bringing his hand up to your hair playing with it again. you buried your head into his chest and dozed of to Gilbert's soft humming.

It was your first day in avonlea. it was spring and outside everything was colorful. all the flowers and blossoms made you feel happy but it wasn't like home. you don't know if that's a good thing or not you loved your home in Toronto but you hated the people there. all the bullying made you miserable and it was the main reason you moved here, but you did miss your old house, your true home.

you groaned as you got out of bed. you were starting school today. you told yourself that you wouldn't bring to much attention to yourself and that you would only talk when spoken to. you were scared you'd say something stupid and get bullied again. you slowly got out of bed and put on one of your finest dresses. you tied your hair in a ribbon and went downstairs for breakfast. you quickly made yourself toast and you set down at the kitchen table with a book. you love reading. you do it all the time.  

"Oh honey put that book away" your mother walks into the kitchen. she looks a little stressed. you close your book and turn to your mother. "are you okay mom? you seem stressed" "I'm fine honey. but today is your first day. please just try to make friends." she says and she smiles softly. "I'll be nice to everyone but I don't need friends. they disappoint me" you say chuckling. "please just be polite" your mother now has a small frown on her face. "of course mother! whenever am I not polite?" you say smirking. "oh I could name a few times but you would be late for school" she chuckles. you laugh and put your empty plate in the sink. "I'll be fine mom there's no need to worry" you smile. "alright. you should get going now" she says smiling back.

"bye!" you yell walking out the kitchen. you put on your coat and walk out closing the door behind you.

you try to remember how to get to the school but you're a little confused. you're now in the middle of the woods near a flower field. you walk on and see a boy walking in your direction.

I guess I'll have to talk then.

"hello miss" he says when you walk up to him. "hello" you smile politely. "are you going to the school house?" you ask with a hopeful expression. "yes I am" he chuckles. "mind if I walk with you, I seem to be lost" you let out a nervous chuckle. "not at all" he smiles. "I'm Y/n L/n" you say sticking out your hand. "Gilbert Blythe" he says shaking your hand gently. his hands feel very warm and soft. you feel your cheeks turn a light shade of pink as you follow him to the school house. "Did you just move here?" he asks. "we arrived yesterday" you give him a small smile. "how do you like it here?" he asks returning the smile. "it's alright but it's different" you chuckle. "well I hope you feel at home here soon." he smiles and you smile back. you approach the school and Gilbert walks in front of you to open the door for you. "thank you" you say. as you you take of your coat. you quickly sit down in a seat and open your book. "that seat is taken" you turn around and see two blonde girls standing in front of you. you quickly close your book and stand up. "I'm sorry I didn't know" you give them a small smile. the smallest girl smiles back. "I'm Ruby Gillis and this is Josie Pye" she says.

"I'm Y/n L/n" you hated introducing yourself. you looked at the girl who now definitely was crying. "are you alright?" you ask with a small frown. "No she is not! thanks to you!" the other girl almost screamd in your face. "I'm sorry but what did I do?" you ask confused. "You can't talk to Gilbert Blythe. Ruby has liked him for years. she has dibs" you frown.

you cant call dibs on a person, that's ridiculous.

you think about what your mother said about being polite. "I'm sorry I didn't know. I won't try anything I promise" you give a small smile.

"just stay away or you'll regret it" Josie says and she walks off. you decide to just stand against the wall until everybody has taken their seats so you don't have to experience anything like that again.

at lunch you go outside and sit by the stream. you read in your book and close off the world around you. the world full of rude bitches and crybaby's. "why are you sitting all alone?" you suddenly hair a familiar voice. you snap out of your thoughts and look up at the curly haired boy from before. "I enjoy being alone" you say hoping he takes the hint but of course he doesn't. "Uh would you like to try an apple. they're from our orchard they're real sweet." he says smiling.

be polite.

"sure" you say turning away from your book. he smiles and hands you the apple. you take a bite and he sits down next to you. "thank you." you say smiling at him. "adorable" he whispers under his breath but you hear. you freeze. what? you feel your face going red. and you look at him. he's blushing as well. he clears his throat nervously, you weren't supposed to hear that. you look the other way and see Josie staring at you furious.

crap I forgot about Ruby's dibs.

"I should go" you say standing up. "oh okay" he looks a little defeated, his mouth slightly agape with a small frown on his face. you go inside and sit at your desk reading. "I told you to stay away from him" Josie says standing in front of you. you look up. "I was only talking and then I walked away. I'm not even interested in him"

well maybe a little. oops.

"you're going to regret this. you made Ruby cry again." Josie says and she stares at you with fire in your eyes.

"I'm truly sorry but I don't want to be rude to him." you give her a really small fake smile. she doesn't take it too well. she slaps you across the face.

okay that's it with the whole being polite thing.

"you keep your hands off me" you say angrily. "and what if don't" she smirks and raises her eyebrows. "let's say you don't wanna find out." you stand up from behind your desk and look at her. you're taller so she's slightly intimidated. she scoffs and walks of. you sit back down slightly frustrated and wait for class to start.

"what was that all about" you can hear Gilbert approaching you. "let's just say that Josie and I don't get along" you say irritated. "why did she slap you" he asks and he gently brings his hand to your cheek to look at the red mark she left behind. your skin starts tingling at his touch and you feel heat rushing to your cheeks. "nothing important. She was upset she couldn't control me like one of her little dolls" you say calming down a bit. You suddenly notice how close Gilbert's face is. You feel your cheeks heat up even more. Gilbert chuckles. "you certainly don't seem like anyone could control you" "and what's that supposed to mean" you say chuckling. He laughs. "nothing"

"everyone take your seats and open your readers to page 49." Mr Phillips enters the class room. You give Gilbert a small smile and he sits down in his seat. You can't help but stare.

He's quite handsome and he's the only one here not acting like a six year old.

after class you put on your coat and walk out. when you walk past Josie she glares at you. you chuckle and just ignore her. "Y/n!" you hear Gilbert yell. you turn around to face him. he runs up to you. "can I walk you home?" he asks smiling. "sure" you smile back. "I don't wanna get lost again." you chuckle and start walking. you turn your head and see Josie looking at you. you chuckle and turn your attention back to Gilbert. "why are you laughing?" he asks. "oh it's nothing"

the walk is quiet. you can feel Gilbert's hand brush against yours a couple times causing you to blush. "Y/n?" Gilbert suddenly stops walking. "yes?" you look at him with a small frown on your face. "I... nevermind..." he looks to the ground. he seems nervous. "Gilbert is everything okay?" you take his hand. "I'm fine" he smiles. "It's nothing." he starts walking again but you don't let go of his hand. he squeezes your hand gently.

when you approach your front door you let go of his hand and smile.

"Thanks for walking me home. I'm glad we're friends" you say and you kiss his cheek. you see him turn slightly red. "me too! and no problem. I'll see you tomorrow!" "see you!" you say smiling and you walk inside and close the door. you take if your coat and hang it up. "who was that?" you jump up. "mom you scared me!" "sorry honey" your mother says chuckling. "and that's Gilbert Blythe. the only person here I do not dislike" you chuckle. "was it that bad" your mother asks frowning. "this one girl threatened me to stay away from him because her friend has dibs" you say chuckling. "isn't that ridiculous?" your mother looks at you. she looks concerned. "will you be alright?" she asks. "of course. I mean I have Gilbert. that's enough social life for me." you chuckle but your mother doesn't look amused. "don't worry about me mom" you say and you give her a hug. "I just want you to be happy darling"

"I know mom, I'm perfectly happy without bitchy friends" you say pulling away. you give her a small smile before walking into the living room.

"hey dad!" you smile and sit next to him on the couch while he reads the paper. "how was your first day?" he asks not looking up from the article he's reading. "it was fine I guess" you say. your father puts away his paper and faces you. "now tell me about that boy" you groan. "His name is Gilbert Blythe and we're friends" "hmm friends" he raises his eyebrows. "are you sure about that?" "Yes and if you'll excuse me I have better things to than having this conversation with you" you chuckle and walk away. "what kind off things? daydreaming about Gilbert Blythe?" he yells. Dinner was a mess. your parents were constantly teasing you and asking you if you liked Gilbert. it made you think.

after dinner you went straight to bed you were absolutely exhausted because of all the stress and all the questions. you thought about Gilbert. his beautiful eyes and his cute smile, the way his fluffy hair moved in the wind and how soft his hand felt in yours.

The next morning you woke up fully rested. that didn't happen alot so you felt great. you put and a lavender dress and tied your hair with a matching ribbon. you went downstairs quietly humming a song. "someone's in lovee" your mother says as she puts your breakfast on the kitchen table. you sit down. "I'm not! I think" you say with a small frown. "I'm confused so stop" you start eating your breakfast and you open your book and start reading. once you're done with breakfast you hug your parents goodbye and walk into the hall to grab your coat and hat. "bye mom, bye dad! you yell and you walk outside. you close the door behind you and suddenly hear someone say your name. "hey y/n" Gilbert's standing in front of you. "I was hoping I could walk you to school." he smiles. "oh sure" you say and you look at the window. you can see your parents look at you. you turn bright red. "let's go" you say letting out a nervous laugh.

you walk into the woods and listen to the sound of chirping birds. you smile to yourself. you loved spring. "isn't spring amazing?" you ask smiling. Gilbert chuckles amused by your enthusiasm "it sure is" he stares at you. "you're beautiful" he suddenly says out of nowhere. you look at him to see if he's joking or something. he's not. he's smiling and blushing. "Thank you... so are you" you chuckle. you walk on in an awkward silence and you feel your heart beating in your chest. everytime his hand brushes against yours you turn red.

suddenly Gilbert grabs your hand. you feel like your heart just stopped beating and you turn bright red, internally screaming. you look over at Gilbert to see he's a blushing mess as well.

you give him an awkward smile and just stay quiet. he smiles back. you guys just keep walking until you reach the school house. you quickly let go of his hand when you go inside. you take of your coat and walk to your seat. you're sitting next to a girl with dark hair and a beautiful blue dress on.

"hi you're y/n aren't you?" she asks. "uh yes that's me" you let out an awkward chuckle. "I'm Diana Barry, I should've introduced myself yesterday but you looked like you didn't wanna be disturbed" she gives you a smile and you shake her hand. "nice to meet you Diana" you say smiling back. "you don't seem rude at all" she says. "what?" you ask a little confused. "Josie told me you were very rude" she says. "she just hates the fact that I'm friends with Gilbert Blythe." you say and you look over at Gilbert. he's staring at you. you feel your cheeks turn pink and you smile at him then you quickly turn away. "ohw I see" she chuckles. "what do you mean?" you ask confused. "you're blushing y/n. it's obvious that you like him" she giggles. "is it really that obvious?" you ask slightly panicking. class was boring and when it was finally lunch time you went outside and sat behind a tree reading. "can we sit with you" you looked up to see Diana and a red-haided girl standing in front of you. "of course" you say smiling. you look around to see if Gilbert is anywhere near but he isn't. "this Anne Shirley-Cuthbert" Diana says. "with an e. anne with an e" Anne says smiling. she sits down next to Diana. "Y/n L/n" you say smiling. you eat your lunch with them and talk about all kinds of things. after lunch you walk with them to the classroom. Gilbert is already in his seat. you quickly walk past him and sit down. you can feel him looking at you. you don't know if you like it or not. you feel nervous the whole lesson. you can't focus and Mr Phillips is pretty annoyed with you. so when school is finally over you jump out of your seat and quickly go outside. "Y/n wait!" you hear Gilbert yelling. "where were you at lunch?" he asks, "I was looking for you, but I couldn't find you." "I was sitting with Anne and Diana" you say looking down at the floor. "oh... okay... do you wanna hang out?" he asks scrathing his neck. "s-sure" you say with a small smile. you're already blushing again. "great! your place?" he asks smiling again.

I hope my parents won't completely embarrass me.

"yea sure" you say. he smiles.

the walk is quiet and awkward and you hope it won't be awkward hanging out with him. when you approach your house you already see your mother smirking at you from the kitchen.

you open the door and take of your coat. Gilbert follows you and looks around. "nice house" he says smiling. "thanks I guess" you say smiling back. you stare at eachother for a moment. he awkwardly clears his throat. "Oh hello" your mother suddenly walks in. "oh hi, it's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. L/n. I'm Gilbert Blythe" "Nice to meet you Gilbert and please call me y/m/n." she smirks at you causing you to blush. "we're going to my room if that's okay" you say looking down at the floor to hide your blushing. "of course" she says while you quickly push past her and walk up the stairs followed by Gilbert.

you sit down on your bed and smile at Gilbert. he sits down next to you and looks around your room. you sit there in an awkward silence. you notice that your hands are almost touching. your heart starts beating faster when his fingers slowly move closer to yours. he slowly takes your hand sending tingles into your whole body.

why am I so nervous it's only holding hands we've done it before.

you look at the floor feeling your cheeks heat up. "so-" "Y/n I have feelings for you" he suddenly blurts out. "and I can't help but think you feel the same since we're holding hands and everything" you're kinda shocked at his sudden confession. you just look at him for a few seconds causing him to panic. "d-do you feel the same or am I m-making a complete fool out of myself?" he asks and he stares into your eyes. "I-" you try to get some words out. you've never really had feelings like this for someone let alone someone liking you back. "I uhh. I d-don't know what to say I-" you feel your cheeks heating up even more. if that's possible. "do you have feelings for me?" he asks again. "yes" you say. a smile appears on Gilberts face and he brings his hand up to your face. he starts leaning in causing you to blush again. "can I kiss you?" he asks. you nod. you can feel his breathing on your face as he leans closer and closer. until your lips touch. you climb on top of him while running your fingers through his hair. then you suddenly hear someone clear their throat. you quickly pull away.

"I brought you two some cookies and tea but I see you're busy" she chuckles and she puts down a plate with cookies and two cups of tea. "t-thank you" you say looking at the floor. your mother chuckles "I won't disturb you any longer. go ahead." she says and walks out of the room. you look at Gilbert and you both burst out in laughter. he starts tickling you and he climbs on top of you. you giggle and try to push him off. he suddenly stops. you look at him smiling as he starts leaning in again. this time faster. he presses his lips on yours passionately, pulling you closer towards him while he smiles into the kiss.

After class you waited outside for Gilbert. he walked out and his eyes lit up when he saw you. "meet me up the hill in an hour" he said. when you were out of Gilbert's sight you started running so you would have more time to get ready. so did Gilbert. he ran towards his house with a big smile on his face. he swung open the front door and stormed into the kitchen. "Bash! I need help!" he yelled looking for food to bring.

Bash came running into the kitchen. "what's wrong?" he asked with a concerned expression on his face. Gilbert smiled. "I asked Y/n on a date" he said before grabbing a basket and putting in all kinds of food. "ah finally" Bash said leaning back. "what do you have planned?" Gilbert looked up at Bash. "we're gonna have a picnic and watch the sunset" his eyes were sparkling causing Bash to chuckle. "fancy" Gilbert suddenly froze. "I need to change" he said running into his bedroom. "Blythe calm down!" Bash said laughing. "how can I calm down when I'm going on a date with the most beautiful girl in... well... the world!" Gilbert was now taking all his shirts out of his closet. "Blythe... if she wants to go on a date with you she's already interested, you don't need to freak out" Bash said patting Gilbert's shoulder. "she only said yes so I would stop staring at her in class" Gilbert said while he tried to calm down. "I'm sure that's not true" Bash said as Gilbert tried on a few shirts. you laid down the blanket and waited for Gilbert. he came running towards you with a basket and a smile. "hey" he said sitting down next to you. "I brought food" he put the basket down in front of you. you guys talked for hours and you could slowly feel yourself fall deeper in love with him with every single word. it was terrifying.

the sun was starting to set and you stared into the distance. Gilbert shuffled a little closer to you. he put and arm around you and pulled you closer. your heart started beating faster. you looked at him and he was staring at your lips. his face came closer while staring intensely. you started to panic. "the sunset is beautiful isn't it?" you asked staring back into the distance. Gilbert's arm loosend a bit as he looked down. "Y/n would you please give me a chance?" he asked taking your hand. "a chance to what?" you asked with a small frown. he was staring at your lips again. his eyes were sparkling. "to show you how much I love you" he leaned closer again causing your heart to beat faster as you stared at his lips. his face was now inches away from you and you could feel his warm breath on your face. you nodded. he gently cupped your face and pressed his lips on yours sending butterflies into your body. you ran your fingers through his hair while Gilbert pulled you closer. you were now on top of him and his hand was on your waist. you slowly pulled away and smiled. It was warm outside on your way to school. the sun was shining bright and you couldn't wait to go to the beach tomorrow. you were planning to go there with your boyfriend Gilbert. you were really excited to spent some more time with him.

you enjoyed your walk through the forest while listening to the chirping birds. you wished Gilbert was with you but he lived in the other direction. he would often walk you home anyway but before school he just didn't have the time.

when you approached the school house Gilbert was no where to be seen. you sat next to your friend cole who was drawing. "That looks amazing cole" you said smiling. he looked at you and gave you a quick smile. "thanks" you watched him draw as you were fascinated by the beautiful picture he drew. "you don't mind me watching you draw right?" you asked. "no not at all" he smiled. class was almost starting and you and cole both stood up to get inside. "Y/n if you want I could draw you and Gilbert sometime, like a cute couple drawing" cole said smiling at you. "omg Cole I would love that!" you were beyond ecstatic and you pulled cole in for a hug. you felt someone quickly brushed passed you. you pulled away from cole to see Gilbert hanging up his coat with a clenched jaw.

you hung up your coat and walked over to Gilbert. he avoided eye contact and quickly walked to his desk. you sat down in your seat. you saw Gilbert glaring at Cole for the whole lesson. he looked angry and hurt. you couldn't concentrate the whole lesson.

when class was over you walked over to Gilbert. you tried to grab his hand but he dodged you. "Gilbert are you mad at me?" you asked tears forming in your eyes as he looked away. "yes" he said almost whispering. "because I hugged Cole?" you tried to grab his hand once again and he slapped it away. you looked at him and he had tears in his eyes. "it's not just that. you're always with him!" he said his voice cracking. he then walked away leaving you with tears rolling down your face knewing you screwed up.

you walked over to the stream and sat down with your lunch. "hey Y/n can I sit with you?" you looked up to see cole and smiled. "sure" you said patting the floor beside you. "are you okay. I saw you and Gilbert fighting" he asked a concerned expression on his face. you frowned. "he's mad because I hugged you, it's ridiculous because it was only a hug and he just doesn't trust me" tears were forming in your eyes. "I'm sorry. do you want me to leave" Cole asked standing up. you layed your hand on his shoulder dragging him back down. "no stay" you said giving him a small smile. "Gilbert can't control who I'm friends with" cole looked at you and gave you a smile. he opened his notebook and started drawing. you opened your book and read beside him. you saw Gilbert glaring at Cole a few times.

you felt bad for spending your lunch with cole but you didn't feel anything for him and it hurt you that Gilbert didn't trust you. In class Gilbert was still glaring at Cole.

after class he ran out the classroom. you quickly ran after him. "Gilbert wait!" he turned around and sent you a glare. "can you let me explain" you said walking a little closer. he stepped back. "you don't need to explain to me that you like Cole" he said and ran off. "I don't!" you yelled running after him. "why don't you trust me?" you asked catching up to him. "leave me alone" he said with a cold tone. he looked into your eyes. the sparkle in his eyes was completely gone. you just stood there when he walked off.

you slowly made your way back home through the forest. the little things like chirping birds and sunshine couldn't cheer you up. Gilbert was hurt and it was all your fault. you opened your front door and ran upstairs burying your head in your pillow.

"Honey?" your mother walked into your room surprised to see you in a state like this. tears were rolling down your face as you looked up at you mother. "dear what's wrong" she asked sitting down next to you stroking your hair. "I don't wanna talk about it." you say putting your head back into your pillow.

The next day you wake up with sore eyes. you were supposed to meet Gilbert at the beach at noon today. you decided to go in case he showed up and wanted to talk. you were nervous as you walked up to the beach but there was no sign of Gilbert. you sat down in the sand and waited and then waited some more. you thought about all the amazing moments you had with him and you couldn't help but cry. tears rolling down your face while looking around every few second to see if he had shown up. but he was never there.

an hour had passed and you knew that he wasn't gonna show up. you decided to go to his house. talk things over. you walked over to Gilbert's house thinking about what you were gonna say.

you approached the house and stood in front of the door. you were nervous and scared. you knocked and held your breath. the door swung open revealing Bash. "y/n" he didn't smile and he spoke in a cold tone. "is Gilbert home?" you asked him. Bash expression softed as he heard the hurt in your voice. "he'll come home in a few minutes, come in" Bash said stepping aside for you to come in.

you followed him into the kitchen and sat down. "now what happened?" he asked. "Gilbert told me you cheated on him" your breath hitched and your eyes widened. tears were forming in your eyes. "h-he said that?" your voice cracked. Bash was a little confused at why you were so shocked. "I didn't. I g-gave my friend C-Cole a hug." you say trembling. "I don't have feelings for Cole" you were now full on crying knowing you screwed up big time. "he really said that. he came home crying his eyes out yesterday afternoon" Sebastian says. you bury your head in your hands. "I can't believe I screwed up this bad. I never meant to hurt him I love him!" you practically yell.

"you love me?" you quickly snap your head into the direction of the door to meet Gilbert's puffy red eyes. "of course I do" you say standing up and taking his hand. this time he lets you. "Cole and I are just friends I hugged him because he offered to make a drawing of you and me, I swear, I love you Gilbert and only you" you squeezed his hand as Gilbert's eyes began sparkling again. he wrapped his arms around you and held you tight. "I love you too" he whispered. with a smile on his face.

"Mother?" you quickly walked down the stairs."yes dear?" you heard her yell from the kitchen. you stormed into the kitchen. "where's my red ribbon?" you asked as you watched you mother make breakfast. "I don't know sweetheart" she said and you groaned walking back upstairs. "Ophelia!" you yelled as you barged into your little sister's room. "did you take my red ribbon?" you asked with an angry expression on your face. "yea sorry" she said with a wide smile while handing you your ribbon. you smiled at her. you could never stay angry at her. you took the ribbon out of Ophelia's hands and stood in front of her mirror. you quickly tied it into your hair and you looked back at your sister.

"why did you take it?" you asked as you sat down on her bed. "it's pretty" she giggled before jumping on the bed next to you. your moodiness from before was now completely gone as you watched your sister's adorable face. "Let's get breakfast" you said smiling as you walked out with your sister following behind. you saw your father reading the paper while drinking coffee. "morning father" you smiled as you sat down across from him. "morning" he said not looking up from whatever he was reading. "did you find your ribbon honey?" your mother asked smiling as she out down a plate in front of you and your sister. "yes Ophelia had it" you say taking a bite from your breakfast. "what's so important anyway?" she asked with curiosity in her eyes. you chuckled. "we're gonna be dancing at school today. practise for the ball, I just wanted to look good" you said smiling. "someone to impress?" she asked smirking. "no not really" you said rolling your eyes. "everyone is immature" "and they never get better" your mother said chuckling while she looked over at your father who still wasn't paying attention. you chuckled and put your empty plate in the sink.

"Ophelia let's go" you smiled at her as she hopped of her chair. "have fun at school both of you!" your mother yelled as you walked out of the kitchen. you helped your sister with your coat as she grinned at you. "so you're gonna be dancing with boys?" she asked and let out a giggle. you chuckled at her and nodded. "god save me" you chuckled causing your sister to laugh in an adorable way. you put on your coat and walked towards the schoolhouse.

you enjoyed the fresh air and the chirping birds while walking through the woods. it was finally spring! approaching the school house you kissed your sister's cheek before she ran off to her friends. you slowly walked over to your own friends. they were loudly chatting about the ball and what dresses they were going to wear. and off course boys.

"morning" you smiled as you stood beside Diana and Tillie. they greeted you and went on with their conversation. "I hope Gilbert asks me" Ruby said making you chuckle. "I'll be dancing with Billy" Josie said and a few girls giggled. "Y/n who are you hoping to dance with?" Anne asked with a grin. "no one" you chuckled but you couldn't help but let your thoughts slip to Gilbert for a moment.

you and your friends walked into the schoolhouse. you looked up at Mr Phillips who had a grumpy look on his face. Mrs Lynde stood next to him and she smiled at the students. "everyone come and stand in a circle" she said with a big grin. you stood next to Ruby and Anne and you looked up at Mrs Lynde. "I'm gonna make pairs" she said looking around the circle. "Okay let's see, Charlie with... Anne" she said pushing Charlie and Anne to the side. "Moody and... Ruby" you looked over at Ruby. she glanced at Gilbert with disappointment. you zoned out until your heard your name. "... with Y/n" you snapped your head up. "with who?" you asked. "with Gilbert" Mrs Lynde answered and you blushed a little while walking over to Gilbert. he smiled at you. but you looked down at the floor. you looked over at Ruby. she gave you a weak smile. you returned it feeling guilty even though it wasn't your fault.

"Alright students" Mrs Lynde clapped her hands causing everyone to stop chatting. "now you and your partner should hold eachother like... this" she said as she grabbed hold of Mr Phillips. you giggled at the sight. you looked at Gilbert and he took one of your hands. he placed his other hand on your waist. you felt your whole body trembling.

You placed your hand on Gilbert's shoulder and looked into his eyes. you noticed the slight blush on his cheeks. You quickly looked back at Mrs Lynde who was now checking the positions. she walked over to you and Gilbert. she pushed you closer to Gilbert. "Now don't be shy" she said as looked at your hands, she then went over to another pair. You and Gilbert stood very close. you could feel your heart racing and you could feel Gilbert's heart rate increase as well.

"Okay students now follow my lead." Mrs Lynde said as she started to dance with Mr Phillips. who looked very annoyed to say the least. you saw you classmates struggle to dance and you chuckled. you tried to get the dance right but it was hard. Gilbert seemed to know what he was doing he swayed you around the room with a smile on his face. butterflies in your stomach as you looked at him. he spun you around. you were a little surprised and tripped over something causing you to fall in Gilbert's arms. you let out a small squeal and Gilbert chuckled putting you back on your feet. He smiled at you. he had an adorable smile. one you could fall in love with...

You chuckled feeling your cheeks burn in embarrassment. everyone had seen what just happened and was now either giggling or whispering. "sorry Y/n didn't mean to make you trip" he said. you could've sworn you saw him wink at you.

"oh Y/n I'm so jealous" Ruby said as you and the other girls sat outside for lunch. "how Gilbert caught you after you tripped. it looked so romantic!" she squealed out. your cheeks turned a light shade of pink. "how was dancing with moody?" you asked quickly changing the subject as you took a bite of your apple. "it was so romantic. he asked me to go to the ball with him." she said with a big grin and pink cheeks. "did you say yes?" Jane asked giggling. "yes I did" Ruby says looking over at moody. "what about Gilbert?" Josie asks a little confused. "I don't really like him that much any more" Ruby answered not taking her eyes of Moody. you almost choked on your apple when she said that. you felt a little relieved, but you don't know why. you glanced over at Gilbert and immediately made eye contact he winked at you before looking away smiling. your cheeks flushed red as you looked back at your friends. Tillie and Diana looked at you with wide eyes. "did he just wink at you?" they both asked. you chuckled. "I believe he did"

"twelve times twelve, Y/n" Mr Phillips called on you as you tried to figure out the answer. he was in a very bad mood because of all the dancing. "some time today" "132" you said with a small frown. you hated maths you were bad at it. "that's incorrect" Mr Phillips sighed as he went on with the lesson. you looked down at your slate a little embarrassed. your happy mood had now disappeared.

"Y/n come here" Mr Phillips said at the end of the lesson. you walked over to his desk and looked around seeing the other students go home. "You'll need to work harder on your maths" he said. "y-yes sir" you looked at the floor. "now get out of here" he said waving his hand at the door. you quickly walked out feeling irritated. Mr Phillips didn't even try to help. you quickly grabbed your coat and ran out the door only to bump into someone. that someone was Gilbert. "oh I'm sorry Gil." you said as you brushed off your dress. he smirked. "gil?" he asked. you looked down at the floor with a slight blush. "s-sorry-"

"no I like it" he said smiling. you looked at him in disbelieve. it was a weird nickname even you knew it. "why are you still here? everyone left already" you asked. Gilbert scratched his neck. "I uhh.. I was waiting for you" he says with a small smile. "oh" you smile at him and look down at the floor as a slight blush appears on your face. "I uhh was wondering if I could walk you home" he asks with hopeful eyes. "sure" you say smiling. "but my sister will have to join us" you smile at the slightly disappointed look on his face. "Ophelia where are you?" you yelled knowing she was somewhere near hiding behind a tree or something. you suddenly heard giggling as she jumped in front of you. "I waited for you" she says grinning. she than looks over at Gilbert. "Hello, I'm Ophelia" she smiled as she stuck out her hand for Gilbert to shake. Gilbert chuckled and slightly bend down shaking her hand. "I'm Gilbert. it's nice to meet you" he smiled. "let's go" you said as you gave Gilbert a smile. you start walking.

"how was dancing Y/n! did you get to dance with a cute boy?" Ophelia suddenly asks. your cheeks turn slightly pink. "did you?" Gilbert asks with a smirk. you nudge his shoulder and chuckle. "it was alright" you shake your head grinning at the floor as Ophelia squealed and started running around. "be careful! don't go to far!" you yelled. as you smiled at the sight of your dancing sister. "what where you and Mr Phillips talking about?" Gilbert asks. you turn your head back to him. "my horrible math skills" you say chuckling. "do you want help with that?" he asks with furrowed eyebrows. you look at him. "yea I could use some help but Mr Phillips won't help me" you say with a small frown. "I can help you, if you want" he says. his eyes sparkling with hope once again making you smile. "that'd be nice" you say. "we can start today if you want." he says with a cute smile. "yea sure" you say as you feel your cheeks turn red

"so this is my house" you say smiling as you open the door. Ophelia quickly ran past you. "mother Y/n brought a boy home!" she yelled. your eyes widened and your cheeks turn pink. "Ophelia!" you yelled. you heard her chuckling. she walked back into the hallway. "mother isn't home" she said a little disappointed as she ran up to her room. you sighed in relieve. if your mother saw Gilbert she would ask a million questions.

"uhh how about I make some tea and then you can help me with those wicked math problems." you said chuckling. "sounds great" he smiles and follows you into the kitchen while you start making tea Gilbert finds himself staring at you. he quickly looks down feeling his cheeks heat up a little as you hand him a cup of tea.

The whole afternoon he helps you with your homework or you guys just talk. "I better be getting home soon" Gilbert said standing up. "oh okay" you said also standing up. "thank you for your help I really appreciate it" you say with a smile on your face. "it's no problem I enjoy your company" he says smiling back at you. he grabs his coat and you open the door for him. "be sure to check those last questions in your notebook again." he said smiling. he looked a little nervous which made you chuckle. "I will, I'll see you tomorrow" you said kissing his cheek. when you pull away you notice he's bright red. you smile to yourself. "s-see you... see you tomorrow Y/n" he managed to say before walking off. you waited until he was out if sight and then went back into the house.

"you kissed his cheek!" Ophelia squeals out. you blush in embarrassment. "I did not!" you say and you walk into the kitchen to clean the table. "yes you did I saw it with my own eyes" she says following you and crossing her arms. "is he your boyfriend?" she asks with a smirk. "no he isn't" you say a little annoyed. you grab your notebook and a little piece of paper falls out. Ophelia immediately grabs it. she looks at it with a frown. "Y/n will you go to the ball with me? love Gilbert" your eyes widen as you snatch the piece of paper out of her hand and read it. it read exactly what she said. "are you going to say yes?" Ophelia asks with sparkling eyes. "yea I think so" you smile at the note. "How romantic!" Ophelia squealed causing you to chuckle. "just shup up" you say causing her to grin. "Y/n and Gilbert sitting in a tre-" "Ophelia stop please" you said in an annoyed tone. she pouted. "sorry I'm just excited for you" she said. you chuckled "it's alright" you said before you walked to your room.

At dinner you were quiet. you zoned out and you were thinking about Gilbert. you just couldn't wait to dance with him again at the ball. "Y/n are you alright? you seem so quiet" you snapped out of your thoughts and turned to your mother. before you could speak Ophelia already opened her mouth. "she's probably daydreaming about Gilbert" she giggled. you groaned and buried your head in your hands. "I'm not daydreaming about Gilbert!" you said annoyed. "who's Gilbert?" your mother asked.

great. now I'll have to answer thousands of questions.

"A boy she brought home today" Ophelia says grinning. "we were studying!" you said looking over at Ophelia. she gave you a smirk.

"you brought a boy home?" your father suddenly asks. "he just helped me with my maths can we talk about something else please?" you say snapping your head in your father's direction. he starts chuckling. "he also asked her to go to the ball with him" Ophelia says as she gives you another smirk. "ooh did you say yes" your mother asks with eyes full of curiosity. "I'm going to my room" you stood up with a bright red face. you weren't sure if it was embarrassment or anger. probably both.

The next morning you woke up feeling great. you immediately thought about Gilbert. you couldn't wait to see the smile on his face when you said yes. you were still mad at your sister for telling your parents but she was young and she probably just didn't understand why you didn't want mother to know.

you jumped out of bed and put on a blue dress with a matching ribbon in your H/C hair. "good morning" you looked up to see your little sister standing at your door. "morning Ophelia" you said turning back to your mirror to fix your hair. "are you mad at me" she asked. "a little" you said brushing off your dress. "I'm sorry" she said she pouted. you sighed "it's okay just don't do it again" you said turning to her giving her a weak smile. she returned it and went downstairs. you followed her and sat down at the kitchen table. you stared out the window and let your thoughts slip to Gilbert again.

you finished your breakfast without a word and then walked out if the kitchen while quietly humming a song. "Ophelia we have to go!" you yelled and she came running from the kitchen. she quickly put on her coat and went outside. you grabbed your coat and ran after her closing the door behind you. "slow down!" you yelled. you had almost caught up to her at the edge of the forest when someone jumped in front of you. you squealed and jumped back causing Ophelia to turn around and finally stop running. Gilbert stood in front if you with a grin on his face. "You scared me" you said chuckling as you calmed down. Gilbert looked at you and scratched his neck. "did you get my note?" he asks with sparkling eyes and a small smile on his adorable face. "I did. and I'd love to go to the ball with you" you smiled widely and so did Gilbert. "How cute!" Ophelia suddenly squealed from behind Gilbert. your felt your cheeks turn red. Gilbert chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair. "can I walk with you?" he asked. you smiled "yea sure"

Ophelia walked in front of you jumping around. Your looked down and touched the side of Gilbert's hand. he looked at you and gently took your hand intertwining fingers. you smiled up to him with butterflies in your stomach. he had a small blush on his cheeks as he smiled at you with sparkling eyes. you squeezed his hand slightly as you guys walked on. when you approached the school you let go of his hand. "may I walk you home later?" he asks. "yes you may" you say smiling. you quickly kissed his cheek before walking of to your friends.

"Guys! I have something to tell you" you said sitting down. everyone turned to you. "Gilbert asked me to the dance yesterday!" you say and everybody squealed. "omg he likes you" Diana said. you looked down with a small frown. "you think so?" you ask blushing slightly. "definitely!" Ruby said. "don't look but he's staring at you right now" Jane said smiling at you. "really?" you turned around to see she was right. Gilbert smiled at you and you gave him a wink. he blushed and you chuckled turning back to your friends.

"Y/n what's eleven times eleven?" Mr Phillips asks looking down on you. class had just started and for the first time ever you understood maths. "121, sir" you said looking up from your slate. "correct" he said. you looked over at Gilbert who smiled at you. you quickly mouthed a thank you and turned back to your work.

When class finally ended you waited outside for Gilbert and your sister. Ophelia came running up to you. "can you tell mother I'm at a friends house?" she asks with a smile. "sure have fun!" you say as she runs of again. you're happy she's not coming along today.

"Y/n" Gilbert walked up to you with a smile. "Hey Gilbert" you returned his smile and you started walking. Gilbert was staring at you the whole time. it made you blush like crazy. He slowly  grabbed your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours, sending tingles into your body. "you're beautiful" he suddenly whispers under his breath. your heart flutters and you stop walking and look into Gilbert's eyes. "thank you" you say smiling. Gilbert squeezes your hand and his gaze flickkers to your lips. you feel your heart beating faster as he starts to lean in. his lips crash on yours gently. you can't help but smile into the kiss. you slowly pull away both smiling. he squeezes your hand again and you start walking again this time in silence. "how late will you pick me up tomorrow?" you ask when you reach your front porch. "at seven?" he asks. "how about you join us for dinner" you said smiling. "oh sure" you could see him getting a little nervous. "don't worry you'll be fine. my parents aren't that bad" you chuckled and Gilbert relaxed. "uhh... thanks for walking me home" you say letting go of his hand. you lean in to kiss his cheek but Gilbert quickly turns his head so you peck him on the lips. he smirks at you and you blush slightly. "see you tomorrow Gil" you say smiling as you walk into your house.

you close the door behind you and lean against the door releasing a breath you didn't realise you were holding. you just stand there for a minute to calm down your butterflies. you take of your coat and walk into the living room smiling. "Ophelia is at a friends house" you say to your mother as you sit across from her. "oh okay" she says handing you a strawberry tart. "are you excited for the ball?" she asks putting away her book. "yea but also nervous" you say looking at the floor. "did you say yes to that boy... what was his name again" she asks. "Gilbert Blythe. and I did he's joining us for dinner tomorrow" you say blushing a little. your mother smiled and stood up. "I'll put the kettle on and you can tell me all about this Gilbert" you groaned and buried your head in your hands.

this is gonna be a long afternoon

you were laying in your bed feeling exhausted. your mother basically interrogated you and you just told her everything. you were nervous for the ball tomorrow but you also couldn't wait to dance with Gilbert. Gilbert was now spinning around in your thoughts. his sparkling eyes and his adorable smile. and the feeling of his soft lips on yours. you were sure of it now. you're in love with him.

"Y/n wake up! wake up" Ophelia was jumping on your bed. you slowly opened your eyes and smiled at your little sister. "morning" you said sitting up. "you're gonna dance with Gilbert today!" she squealed as she sat down. "he walked you home didn't he?" she says with a grin. "yes he did. and we kissed" you whisper yell. Ophelia squealed and started jumping again. you chuckled and got out of bed. "why don't you calm down and help me with picking out a dress" you said opening your closet. she ran over to you and took out a red dress. it was a dress for special occasions. you had only wore it once at a party. you ran your fingers over the soft fabric. "this one's perfect Ophelia" you said smiling. "go eat breakfast I'll change and then you can help me with my hair" you said and she smiled. "okay"

she walked out off your room and you closed the door behind her. you put on the dress and looked in the mirror. you looked at your figure and span around. you looked very pretty. you made you way downstairs to eat breakfast with your family. you swirled around in the kitchen catching your family's attention.

"you look stunning dear!" your mother said looking at you from all sides. "you sure do" your dad says looking up from his paper. "you look like a princess!" Ophelia said with a grin. "thank you" you smiled as you sat down and ate your breakfast.

Time was running by quickly. you had finished getting ready and were now helping your mother prepare dinner. you heard a knock on the door and you quickly ran out off the kitchen. you opened the door to see Gilbert standing there in a suit with a bouquet of beautiful flowers in his hands. he looked very nervous which made you chuckle. he stared at you with sparkling eyes.

"Y/n you look absolutely gorgeous" he said taking a step closer. he gently took your hand and pressed a kiss on it. you blushed. "you don't look too bad yourself" you said smiling as you stepped aside letting him in. your mother came walking towards you. "you must be Gilbert Blythe" she smiled. "I am. it's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. L/n" he said with a small smile. you chuckled at how nervous he looked. "oh please call me y/m/n" your mother said. Gilbert nodded as he handed your mother the flowers. "these are for your family" he smiled. "how kind of you" your mother said as she walked into the living room giving you an approving look on her way out.

you were about to follow her when Gilbert grabbed your hand. you turned around and he gently kissed your lips. when you pull away you're both smiling like crazy. "come on you have to meet my father" you said letting go of his hand and gesturing to the living room. his smile faded and he gulped. you were trying very hard to hold your laughter but it didn't work. "Calm down he's not that bad" you said walking over to the living room where your mother is putting down the flowers. Gilbert follows you. "hey Gilbert!" Ophelia waves at him from the other side of the room causing your father to look up. he puts his paper away and stands up. Gilbert takes a step forward. "I'm Gilbert Blythe, It's a pleasure to meet you Mr L/n" you chuckle at the fact that his legs are trembling. your father shakes his hand "please call me y/f/n" your father says sending him a weak smile. Gilbert returns it. "dinner is almost ready" your mother says before walking back into the kitchen.

you sit down on the couch and Gilbert sits next to you. he seems relieved. your father turns back to his paper and Ophelia runs off. you and Gilbert just sit there not saying anything. it's awkward and you don't know what to talk about because your dad is sitting across from you. "Y/n help me set the table please" your mother says walking into the living room. you stand up and follow her leaving Gilbert alone with your father. before you close the door behind you you can see panic in his eyes and you chuckle.

you quickly put the plates on the table and glance into the living room. your father is talking to Gilbert.

I hope he's not asking him a million questions.

"dinner is ready" you say and they both stand up. you sit down next to Gilbert. "so Gilbert what are your plans after you finish school" your father asks. "I uhh.. I wanna be a doctor" he says and your father raised his eyebrows and nodded.

the whole dinner goes like that. your father would ask questions and Gilbert would answer. you could feel your family liked him but when dinner was finally over you feel relieved.

"I hired us a carriage" Gilbert says smiling at you. it's time to leave for the ball. "that's great!" you say kissing his cheek. "we're going!" you yell. Ophelia comes running towards you and she hugs you. you chuckle. "have fun!" your parents say before you walk out the door. you sit down in the carriage next to Gilbert. you take his hand and squeeze it. "are you nervous?" he asks staring into your eyes as the carriage starts moving. "yea a little" you say. his gaze flickers to your lips. he leans in slowly and his lips brush yours gently. you feel tingles in your lips as he slowly pulls away. he pulls you closer and you lay your head on his shoulder. he plays with a stroke of your hair for the remainder of the drive.

the venue was beautiful there was music playing and there were drink and snacks. Gilbert took your hand and practically dragged you to the dancefloor. he intertwined his fingers with yours and put his hand on your waist. you put your hand on his shoulder and got closer. butterflies were going crazy in your body when you slowly moved to the music. you stared into Gilbert's eyes for what felt like hours. he suddenly crashed his lips on yours. it was a short put passionate kiss. when he pulled away you looked around to see your friends looking at you. you squeezed Gilberts hand and looked back into his eyes. his eyes were sparkling. "Y/n... will you be my girlfriend" he asked. a smile appeared on your face. "yes!" you basically squealed as you wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him. he immediately kissed back and wrapped his arms tightly around your waist. you pulled away and smiled. "I'm gonna get us drinks" Gilbert says smiling back at you before walking of.

you stare at him walking away when suddenly your friends run up to you screaming. "Omg are you guys courting!" Tillie screamed. you nodded and chuckled at their enthusiasm. "you two are so cute" Ruby said causing you to smile.

The rest of the evening you talked to your friends and danced with Gilbert for some more. it was perfect and when you had to go home you felt a little sad.

the carriage ride home you cuddled up to Gilbert dozing off. "we're at your house" he says kissing your forehead. he jumps out of the carriage and helps you out. he walks with you to your front porch. "I had so much fun Gilbert" you say smiling. "me too" he says. "I'll see you at school" you say about to turn around but Gilbert grabs your wrist and crashes his lips on yours. he cups your face gently with his right hand. with his left hand he pulls you closer. you run your fingers through his hair gently tugging his curls. your lips felt like two pieces of a puzzle fitting together perfectly. he slowly pulls away. "I love you Y/n" he says with sparkling eyes. "I love you too Gilbert" you say. he gives you one more smile before walking back to his carriage. "bye!" you yell. "see you!" he yells before driving away. you watch him until he's completely out of sight.

Dear Gilbert Pt. 2

It's been over a year since Gilbert left Avonlea. you grew older made a few friends and you felt normal again. but you still missed Gilbert. he had written you once. He told you about his new friend Sebastian and all the amazing things he had seen. you had written back saying you missed him and telling him about the things that were going on in Avonlea. you never send the letter you wrote the first day after he left. it was still on your desk. you never touched it again but you knew all the words written on it. your feelings didn't fade away. you didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing.

You were on your way to school with Diana. you and Diana became good friends. but she could never replace Gilbert. when you approached the school you noticed that there was no one outside. "are we late?" you ask with a small frown. "I don't think so" Diana says. you walk into the school house and see everyone standing in a circle. you take of your hat and coat and walk towards your classmates.

"what's going on?" you ask and you push past some boys. it's Gilbert. your best friend. the person you love. he's back. a big smile appears on your face. "Gilbert you're back!" you jump into his arms and he immediately hugs you tight. he had grown taller and you now fitted perfectly under his chin. he smells slightly like cinnamon. you buried your head into his chest. "I told you I was gonna come back" he whispers. you slowly pull away. "I missed you" you say smiling. you have tears in your eyes. happy tears if course. "I missed you too" he says smiling back at you.

"everybody take your seats! and open your readers at page 23!" Mr Phillips said as he walked into the classroom. "talk after class?" you ask. "yea I have so much to tell you" he says before sitting down."I wanna hear everything" you smile and walk over to your desk. "Gilbert's even more handsome now" you hear Ruby say behind you causing you to clench your fists.

at lunch all the boys are still crowding Gilbert. you decide to just talk to him after. when lunch is over Gilbert walks over to your desk. "sorry I was attacked with questions" he says chuckling. "it's fine but do you wanna hang out at my place after?" you ask with hopeful eyes. "yea of course! see ya" he says and sits down at his desk. you can't focus during class. you keep looking at Gilbert most of the time he's looking at you as well. then both of you would smile and quickly look away.

when class is finally over you quickly grab your coat and hat and walk outside waiting for Gilbert. "hey y/n" Gilbert walks up to you with a smile. "hey gil ready to go?" you ask smiling back at him. you feel a little nervous about hanging out with him for the first time in months. "do you mind if we go to my place first so you can meet Sebastian." "oh sure! I'd love to meet him"

you already feel more relaxed as you guys start walking. "you look different" Gilbert says looking at you up and down. "more mature" you blush. "you too! you're so tall" you chuckle. he smiles.

you approach his house and he knocks on the door. a man opens the door. "Y/n this is my friend Sebastian. Sebastian this is Y/n" Gilbert says smiling. "nice to meet you Sebastian" you say shaking his hand. "nice to meet you too. I've heard so many things about you, and please call me Bash" he says with a thick accent. he chuckles.

Gilbert talked about me?

"are you guys coming in or not" Sebastian asks. "actually no we're going to Y/n's place" Gilbert says smiling. "oh well have fun then" Sebastian says and he smirks at Gilbert. "Goodbye Bash" Gilbert chuckles before turning around. "bye" you say and you follow Gilbert.

you guys walk through the crunching snow in complete silence but it's not an uncomfortable silence. you feel his hand brush against yours for a moment and your heart starts pounding in your chest. Gilbert gives you a small smile before looking at the ground blushing.

is he blushing?

When you reach the house he suddenly stops walking. "I missed going here almost every day" he says chuckling. "I missed you being here almost every day" you chuckle and open the door. "why don't you go up to my room and I'll get us some drinks." "sure" he says and he walks up the stairs.

you disappear into the kitchen and pour some drinks. you slowly walk up to your room. when you open the door Gilbert looks at you with wide eyes. he's standing at your desk with a piece of paper in his hands. you put down the cups and frown. "why are you looking at me like that" you chuckle, but then it suddenly hits you. you widen your eyes.

the letter. he read it.

"you're in love with me? he asks. "y-you weren't s-supposed to read t-that" you say and tears form in your eyes. "I'm sorry, my name was on it so I assumed..." he paused for a second "do you still have feelings for me?" he asks. you sit down on your bed. "I-" you pause. "I do. I still love you. I ruined our friendship didn't I? I should've thrown that letter away. you could never feel the same anywa-" "Y/n-" he sits down next to you. you look at the floor bright red and tears rolling down your face. "Y/n I love you too" Gilbert says moving closer. he gently lifts up your chin with his finger. you look at him. "y-you wha-" Gilbert cuts you off by gently grabbing your face and smashing his lips on yours. he puts his hands on your waist pulling you closer. you feel him smile into the kiss. you take in his cinnamon scent once again and your whole body tingles as your lips slowly move against Gilbert's fitting like two pieces of a puzzle. this is the moment you've waited for all your life. you slowly pull away and smile. "I guess I'm happy I didn't throw away that letter" you chuckle and so does Gilbert. "Me too Y/n" he says laying down pulling you in a warm hug and placing kisses on your forehead.

You sit on your bed with tears in your eyes as your best friend tells you he's leaving Avonlea. "when?" your speak in a soft tone full of hurt. "tomorrow" he says looking down at the floor trying to hold back his tears. "Gilbert why didn't you tell me sooner?" you ask trembling. "I only just made up my mind. when I knew I immediately came here to tell you." he says and sits down next to you. "but why? why would you leave Avonlea? leave me?" you look in his eyes. "I'm sorry y/n but I have to" he takes your hand. "it's what my father would've wanted." you nod. "I'm going to miss you so much" you say before hugging him tight. "I'll miss you too" he says slowly rubbing your back. "I was wondering if we could spend the afternoon together?" Gilbert asks pulling away from the hug. "yea sure. it'll be hard knowing it's the last time" you say looking down.

the whole afternoon you guys talked about all the things you've been through together. all the good memories and all the bad ones.

"it's time for me to go" Gilbert says standing up. "please don't go" you whisper as you jump into his arms crying. "I'm sorry y/n" He holds you tight as tears fall down his face leaving wet spots on your dress. "I'll come back one day"

You pulled away from the hug. "Goodbye Gilbert" you say trembling. "Goodbye Y/n" he says before turning around. "Gilbert..." you say causing him to turn around.

should I tell him?

"yes?" he asks with glistening eyes. "I-" you pause. "take care okay" he looks down. "I will" he turns around and slowly walks away out of your life.

I just can't tell him. at least not now.

"mother?" you close the door when Gilbert is out of your sight and you walk into the kitchen. "yes dear?" "can I please skip supper?" you ask with tears rolling down your face. "what's wrong dear?" your mother asks before running up to you. "Gilbert is leaving Avonlea" you say. "Oh honey I'm so sorry" your mother says before taking you in her arms. "do whatever you want honey. I'll bring you your food in bed. you have to eat something" you nod "thank you mother" you pull away from her and walk up the stairs. you bury your head in your pillow and start sobbing until you fall asleep.

The next morning you woke up with sore eyes. you looked at your night stand. there was cold soup standing on it.

great mother didn't wake me.

you walk downstairs with the bowl and pour it down the drain. you notice it's almost time for school already. school. the last place you wanted to go. without Gilbert you had no one. all the girls hated you.

"you can't talk to Gilbert" "ruby has dibs"

they hated you because you were friends with Gilbert. it was ridiculous. you were always kind to them but they didn't care if you were nice or not. "good morning honey" your mother said in a soft tone. "how are you feeling" "not great" you say holding back your tears. "I'll make your favorite breakfast" she says walking over the cabinets. "no mom I'm already late I should go" you say grabbing an apple. "okay honey. I love you!" she yells when you leave the room. "love you too mom!"

you grab your coat and hat and run towards the school. Gilbert was already gone. when you walked by his house and it was empty. you felt tears rolling down your cheeks as you approached the schoolhouse. you were late and everybody was already inside.

you quickly took off your coat and sat down at your desk. everyone stared at you and your puffy red eyes. "Y/n you're late" Mr Phillips said in a cold tone. "I know. I'm sorry sir." you say looking down. "don't let it happen again." He says and goes on with the lesson. "does anyone by any chance know were Gilbert Blythe is?" Mr Phillips turns around again. you raise your hand. "Y/n" "H-he left sir." you say holding back your tears. "that's too bad. he was my best student"

Mr Phillips continued the lesson and tears started rolling down your face. "are you okay?" Diana asks. Diana sits next to you. she's always nice but you wouldn't call her your friend. "I just miss Gilbert" you whisper. "oh" Diana just sits there. she doesn't know what to do.

at lunch you ran home. you couldn't bare being there with all those people looking at you and whispering things. with Gilbert there it wasn't that bad but now that he was gone you just couldn't.

you ran through the woods. crunching leaves under your feet with every step you take. you stormed inside and ran up the stairs slamming the door behind you. you fell down on your bed and just sobbed for a few minutes.

after minutes of crying you calmed down and decided to write Gilbert a letter. you grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and just wrote all your feelings down.

Dear Gilbert.

It's been one day since you left. I miss you already. I don't know what to do without you. I love you. with all my heart. I always have. Gilbert I've always wondered... if I kissed you would you kiss back? do you feel the same I feel everytime I see you. I've been wanting to ask you this for a while now and I tried. I really did. but I never had the courage. I probably don't even have the courage to send you this letter. I hope this doesn't ruin our friendship. even if you don't feel the same I still want to hear about your travels. I still wanna be your best friend.

it was Monday morning. you just woke up and the first thought that came to your mind was Gilbert. that dreamy smile he always gave you was all you could ever think about. you jumped out off bed and opened your closet. you grabbed a yellow puff-sleeved dress and put it on. you tied a ribbon in your hair and slowly walked to the kitchen while daydreaming about Gilbert.

"what are you smiling about?" you turned around to see your older brother Tyler looking at you while leaning on the counter. "none of your business" you said chuckling. you grabbed an apple and took a bite. "that Blythe boy?" he asked smirking. "I do not have a crush on Gilbert, I have to go I'm late for school" you said before quickly walking out to hide the fact that you're blushing. you put on your coat and walk outside feeling a slight breeze through your hair. you smile at the autumn leaves falling from the tree's as you walk through the forest wondering what it would be like if Gilbert was with you right now. what it would feel like of your fingers intertwined with his or how it would feel if his lips brushed yours. you swooned at the thought of his adorable smile.

you heard a branch snap behind you causing you to snap out of your thoughts and turn around. your eyes widened. "H-hey G-Gilbert" you said as he smiled at you. "morning Y/n" he said and he began walking next to you. you quickly looked the other way fully aware off the fact that your cheeks were now bright red.

the walk was akward to say the least. every once in a while you would ask eachother a question only for the other to reply with one sentence and then turn back to silence. When you approached the schoolhouse Gilbert opened the door for you you muttered a thank you and quickly took of your coat and walked to your seat next to Jane.

"did you just walk with Gilbert?" she asks giggling. "I did, it was so awkward" you whisper yell. "how cute" she said smirking at you. "stop" you giggle. you stared at Gilbert the whole lesson. every once in a while he'd turn his head and look at you causing you to blush and look away. "Y/n L/n would you stop staring at Gilbert Blythe for a moment and pay attention" Mr Phillips suddenly said.

how did he know? was it that obvious?

your face turned bright red and some students were giggling. Gilbert turned his head and smirked at you causing you to blush even harder. "sorry sir" you mumbled in embarrassment. and Mr Phillips went on with the lesson. you were so embarrassed you felt like your head would explode. you looked at Jane and mouthed "kill me now" causing her to chuckle. at lunch you avoided Gilbert and you and the other girls went over to the stream.

you zoned out as they started to talk about boys. they already knew you liked Gilbert and you'd rather be daydreaming than listening to their teasing. suddenly Tillie nudged your shoulder. "you must've been so embarrassed in class." Josie said giggling. you groaned, there we go again. "well yea I was. I felt like I was gonna explode" you chuckled at your own stupidity. "What I don't understand is why you even like Gilbert." Anne said crossing her arms. "personally I think he's an idiot" she added. you looked at her. "what is there not to like?" you chuckled. "I mean look at him. his smile is adorable he's very smart and always kind. his eyes are simply gorgeous. to say he's Dreamy is an understateme-" you looked at you friends. their eyes were widened and you were slightly confused. "wh-" "thank you Y/n that's very kind off you to say" you freeze and your eyes widen. Gilbert.

You close your eyes as you cringe at the situation. your friends were giggling as you slowly turn around and open your eyes to meet Gilbert's. "Gilbert..." you said feeling heat rushing into your cheeks. "so I'm dreamy huh?" he asks with a smirk on his face. "don't get cocky" you say chuckling trying to laugh it off. Gilbert chuckles. "I must say you look rather cute when you're embarrassed" he says with a wink causing your heart to flutter. the girls behind you were giggling and whispering at the scene in front of them. they then slowly backed away back to the schoolhouse leaving you and Gilbert alone. much to your despair. you look down at the floor. "look Gilbert I'm sorry..." he cuts you off by slowly lifting your chin with his index finger. "don't be" he smiles at you. "you have no idea how happy that made me Y/n" "what? me embarrassing myself. again" you still feel your cheeks burning and your skin is tingling at Gilbert's touch. "no.. you liking me back" he smiles at you and his eyes sparkle. "liking you back?" you look at Gilbert with wide eyes. "you like me?" you ask. "yea.." his gaze flickers to your lips and he slowly starts to lean in. he cups your face gently and his lips brush yours slowly sending tingles down your body. you hear gasps and whispers all around you and you smile into the kiss before pulling away. It was winter in avonlea. everything was covered in snow. you were walking towards the school with crunching snow underneath your feet. your cheeks were pink because you were so cold and you rubbed your arms trying to warm up.

you walked up to the school as you heard loud chatter coming from the classroom. you took of yout coat and hat and hung them up. curiosity took over you and you walked over to your classmates standing in a circle. you gasped. your childhood friend you haven't seen in years stood there in front of you. "Gilbert" you yelled and you pushed passed your friends. "y/n, it's so good to see you!" he pulled you into a hug and people started whispering. you didn't care you needed to be in your friends arms. "I've missed you" you say pulling away from the hug. "Really?" he smirks at you. old feelings already starting to rush back into him. "of course I have! you're one of my best friends and you were gone for over a year" he looked down at the floor slightly disappointed.

one of my best friends. those weren't the words Gilbert wanted to hear.

"well I've missed you too, I'll see you after class" he says walking towards his desk leaving you confused. you frown and sit down next to Diana waiting for class to start.

after class you saw Gilbert walking out. you quickly grabbed your hat and coat and ran after him. "Gilbert wait!" you yell smiling. he turns around and stops walking. he smiles back at you. "hey" He says and he stares at you with twinkling eyes. "you look beautiful today y/n" you freeze at those words. "thanks!" you say linking your arms. Gilbert looks down at the floor.

is he blushing? no it's probably just the cold winter air.

"how are you? " you ask and look up at him. "I'm glad to be back." he says and he looks back up again. "well, I'm glad you're back as well" you say chuckling. "are you going to work on the farm again?" you ask with a small frown on your face. "yes for a few years with my friend Sebastian" "oh you brought a friend to Avonlea?" "yes I met him on the ship." "well I'd love to meet him sometime" you say smiling. "why don't you come over for dinner tonight?" he asks. "I can't tonight, my grandmother is having dinner with us" he looks down disappointed. "I'll come by some other time" "do you wanna just talk in the field. like old times?" he asks with hopeful eyes. "right now?" you ask chuckling. "yes" he says and he stops walking. "sure why not."

you walk towards the field you two would always sit in. a cold breeze almost blew your hat of your head. you shivered. "are you okay?" "just cold" you smile and he pulls you close to keep you warm. your body tingles at the sudden touch.

what is he doing? he's probably just being a good friend.

"is it hard. you know being back here after everything that happened? you ask as you turn towards him. he stops walking and you notice he's clenching his jaw. "I'm fine" "Gilbert I've know you since I was like four years old. I know you're not feeling okay" you pull him into a hug and you feel his tears falling on your dress. you slowly run your fingers through his hair. he pulls away slowly. "thank you" he says and he smiles softly. "thank you for noticing" your heart melts. he doesn't deserve to be this sad. "let's just have some fun okay?" you say and wipe his tears away. you start tickling him causing him to burst out in laughter. he runs away from you and you throw a snowball into his neck. "ahh stop" he says laughing as he throws one in your face. you feel the cold snow hit your face as you start chasing him. "you're going to regret that!" you yell running after him. he suddenly stops running causing you to crash into him. you both fall to the ground. he climbs on top of you and tickles you. you start laughing as you try to push him of. "stop it" you say smiling. he stops tickling you and he stares into your eyes. he starts to lean in. you widen your eyes.

what is he doing?

You feel his soft lips brush yours. you push him off. "what are you doing!?" you ask frowning. you're very confused. his eyes widen as he looks at you. you can see sadness and panic in his eyes. "I- I'm sorry" he says standing up. you stand up as well and brush of your dress. Gilbert looks at the floor with a bright red face. "I like you y/n" he says. you stay quiet for a moment. "Gilbert I'm really sorry but... I don't feel the same way. I thought we were just friends" your heart breaks as you see tears form into his eyes. "Gilbert I don't know what to say" you pause "I should go" you say before turning around. Gilbert gently grabs your wrist. "y/n wait" you sigh and feel tears forming in your eyes as he says this in a broken voice. "have you never in your entire life felt anything for me?" he asks and his voice cracks. you turn back around to face him. "maybe before you left. but Gilbert I haven't seen you for a whole year and then you just turn back up here and kiss me. you can't do that to me." you say trembling and a tear escapes your eye. "I'm sorry y/n" "I have to go" you pull your wrist out of his grip and walk away. tears roll down your face and your thoughts are going crazy.

your Grandma opens the door and pulls you in a hug. "my favorite granddaughter!" she says as she pulls away from the hug. you wipe your tears and smile. "Hi grandma!" you say. "oh dear child what's wrong?" "I'm just confused" you say. "tell me everything" she says pulling you inside.

you sit down in the living room across from your dear grandmother. "your remember Gilbert right?" "of course I do. you two used to be inseparable" "h-he kissed me today" you say looking at the floor. "and I don't know how to feel about it" "well do you love him?" "of course I do. but I don't know if I love him like that." "well what does your heart say" your grandma asks putting a hand on your shoulder. "I don't know."

I really don't know.

after some talking with your grandmother you feel better. but you're still not sure about how you feel. "Dinner is ready!" you hear your mother yell from the kitchen. you walk over to the dinner table and sit down. your grandmother sits down next to you and your parents across from you. you smile. "child have you been crying?" your mother asks looking at your puffy red eyes. "yes but I'm okay" you say looking down. 

during dinner you're quiet. Gilbert running through your thoughts again. the way his lips touched yours leaving a tingling sensation. the way his eyes looked at you filled with sadness when you told him you didn't feel the same way. the way his voice cracked when he asked you if you've ever felt something for him. and then it suddenly hit you.

you stand up from the table. "y/n what are you doing? sit down" your mother says. you look at your grandma. and she nods already knowing what you're going to say. "I have to go" you yell and run to get your coat. "my heavens Y/n what's going on?" your father yells.

"I'm in love with Gilbert Blythe!"

you slam the door on your way out and start running through the woods. leaving footmarks in the snow as you run towards Gilbert's house. you knock on his door breathing heavily as a man opens the door. "hello?" he says as he looks at you confused. "I'm-" you pause to breathe. "I'm y/n... and I need to see Gilbert. like right now if that's possible." his eyes widen. "you're y/n?" he asks. "yes and you must be Sebastian" you shake his hand. "Blythe there's someone at the door for you!" he yells. Gilbert walks through the door and freezes when he sees you. "y/n" he says and he stares into your eyes. "I'll leave you two alone" Sebastian says before disappearing to the kitchen. "Y/n I'm so sorry for kissing you. I should've know you didn't feel the same way. I hope I didn't ruin our friendship. because I love you more than anything." "Gilbert I love you too" "I know but in a different way." he looks down at the floor. "no Gilbert I feel the same" you say as you step closer to him. you slowly trace your finger over his jawline as he just stands there confused. "wait what?" he asks frowning. "maybe this will help you understand" you say as you press your lips on his. he's startled at first but then he kisses back. he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you closer smiling into the kiss. you slowly pull away and he looks at you with a big smile on his face and sparkling eyes. you can't help but smile back. "y/n wait up!" you chuckle as your boyfriend runs towards you after a long school day. "hey Gilbert" you smile as he takes your hand intertwining fingers. your hands tingles and he smiles at you. "I'm walking you home" Gilbert says.

the walk was quiet. but not a bad quiet. it was comfortable and calm. you walk past a beautiful flower field full of the most beautiful colors, Gilbert sees you staring. "come" he says and he pulls your arm. you follow him into the colorful field as he spins you around causing you to chuckle. he kisses your forehead before putting you down again. you blush as you lay down in the grass, crushing a few flowers in the progress. Gilbert lays down next to you with a grin on his face. "what are you smiling at blythe?" "you're so beautiful" he says and stares into your eyes. his eyes are sparkling as always. you blush at his words. "you're too sweet" you chuckled and looked at him. 

you climbed on top of him and started tickling him. He couldn't control his laughter and he tried to get away from you. "stooohhp" he said and flipped you over. you stopped tickling and smiled at him. he slowly tucked your hair behind your ear and leaned in kissing you passionately. you lay there for what feels like hours and it starts to get late. "I have to go or my father will be worried. you know what he's like" you say pouting. your father was very protective of you. you figured it was normal after losing the love of his life, your mother. "y/n before you go" Gilbert takes your hand. he looks nervous and you raise your eyebrows. "wanna go on a special date tonight?" He smiles and stares deeply into your eyes. "I don't know Gilbert I don't think my father will let me" "please" he pouted. he looked like a puppy dog. "fine I'll try to sneak out." you chuckle "and don't look at me like that" he chuckles and places a kiss on your forehead. "meet me on the beach at midnight. our favorite spot" "I'll see you there. love you!" you say before turning around. "love you too!" Gilberts says letting go of your hand. butterflies are going crazy in your stomach.

god I'm so lucky to have him.

you walk home leaving gilbert in the field with a big smile on his face. he runs towards his house. he starts dancing in excitement. he opens the door throws his coat to the side and starts preparing the date. a blanket, some food, drinks and... a ring. he smiles at the small box in his hand. "what are you so happy about" Bash enters the room. "it's happening tonight" Gilbert says smiling. "what's happening tonight" Bash asks confused. "I told you about this. I'm proposing to y/n" "ah finally" Bash says nudging Gilberts shoulder. "it's been months since you talked to her father" "I know... I've been waiting for the right moment. tonight feels right." He says putting the box down on the table. "Good Luck Blythe!" Bash says patting his back before walking out again. "wait I need your help! I don't know what to wear!" Bash chuckled shaking his head. "nope. I'm not gonna sit in that chair for three hours watching you panic over white shirts, like last time when you were meeting her father." Gilbert rolls his eyes ketting out a chuckle. "please Bash this is important to me" "Fine"

midnight started to come closer. your father was already asleep and you were getting ready. you squeezed yourself into a corset and put on one of your finest dresses. you quietly opened your bedroom door and started walking down the stairs. 

"where do you think you're going young lady?"

shit.

you close your eyes and turn around facing your father. "Gilbert... He wanted to go on a special date" you start walking up the stairs again. "I'll go back to bed" your father lays a hand on your shoulder stopping you. "do you really love this boy?" He asks in a serious tone. "of course" you say furrowing you eyebrows. "then you may go" your father says smiling softly. your face lits up and you hug him. "Thank you!" "I'll be back in a few hours!" you say and run down the stairs. you father smiles already assuming what this special date was all about.

You walk towards the beach with the wind in your hair. it was a beautiful summer night and you could see Gilbert in the distance. he was sitting on a blanket surrounded by candles. your heart melted. it was beautiful. he put so much effort in it. "Gilbert!" you yelled as your ran up to him. he jumped up putting something in his pocket. "y/n" He looked at you. "you look gorgeous!" he says walking towards you taking both your hands. "you don't look so bad yourself Blythe" you chuckle and look at him. "thank you" "let's go swimming!" He says pulling your arm. "Gilbert I'm not dressed for swimming" "do you trust me" "of course but what does that have to do with anyth-" "you can swim in your undergarments" he says. "o-only if you feel comfortable with that of course"

he has been my boyfriend for years now. I trust him. it's not a big deal.

You blush. "I do. I trust you." you smile and he smiles back. he starts taking of his shirt and you slowly take of your dress and corset. Gilbert stares at you. "stop staring like that" you say chuckling. "I'm sorry" he says "I don't wanna make you feel uncomfortable y/n." he looks at the floor. "I could never feel uncomfortable around you." you slowly take a step closer to him. he looks up into your eyes reflecting the flickering candle light. "kiss me" you say in a hushed tone. he steps closer and cups your face. he presses his lips on yours gently. you take his hand and place it on your waist. he smiles into the kiss pulling you closer. you softly tug his dark curls as he slowly traces his fingers down your back. you pull away and smile at him as you start running towards the water. he runs after you and laughs.

god I love this boy.

"y/n slow down!" you chuckle as Gilbert chases you. "you're never going to catch me Blythe!" you yell as you start running even faster. you glance over your shoulder and see him catching up to you. You run into the water your splashing water everywhere. you stopped running and Gilbert crashed into causing you both to fall into the sea. you both burst out in laughter and he pulls you close. "gotcha" he smiled and placed a kiss onto your forehead. you laugh and splash some water into his face. "hey!" he says and he splashes water back at you. 

you guys do that for a couple more minutes before you decide to head back to the shore. "I brought food and drinks" Gilbert says, handing you a towel. "of course you did" you say smiling. "you always know how to make a date perfect, but this one tops all" you say looking at all the candles and roses around the blanket. "I told you tonight was gonna be special" he says smiling. you smile back "every night with you is special" you put your dress back on but you leave your corset in the sand. he puts his shirt back on and shakes his head causing small drops of water to fall out of his hair. you sit down on the blanket and Gilbert pours a drink. He sits down next to you and hands you a glass of wine. he bumps your glass with his. "to us" he says smiling. "to us" you say and take a sip. you both eat snacks and talk for hours.

he suddenly stands up and clears his throat. "y/n c-can you please stand up?" he asks and you notice he's shaking. you furrow you eyebrows and you stand up. he takes your hand and stares into your eyes. "y/n I hope you know how much I love you. you're the sparkling light in my life. I love everything about you. the way you blush when I give you a compliment or the way you smile after I kiss you. You mean everything to me y/n. everytime I look at you I fall in love with you even more and then I know, I wanna spend my future with you Y/n. I wanna spend my entire life with you." you start shaking at his sweet words and he gets on one knee. you gasp and bring your hands to your face. tears of happiness forming in your eyes. He pulls out a small box. "Y/f/n will you marry me?" he opens the box revealing a shiny ring. "Yes! A thousand times yes!" you say smiling. happy tears are running all over your face. Gilbert takes out the ring and puts the box aside. he stands up and takes your hand slowly putting the ring on your finger. he kisses your hand and he looks at you. his eyes are filled with pure happiness. he softly wipes your tears with his thumbs and he crashes his lips on yours passionate but gentle. he pulls away and you lay your head on his shoulder.
