BL Manhwa Recommendations Part 2
After all of the positive feedback from my first Manhwa list I’ve decided to make a part 2. For anyone who doesn’t know Manhwa are Korean Comics. Here’s another recommendation list for some of the ones that I’ve read. I’ve marked the Mature ones with (***)
Alice in Adultland (7/10): After losing a bet, Geonwoo has to go purchase something from an adult toy store. When he enters the sex shop he finds himself instantly falling head over heels for the owner of the shop, and accidentally forgets his wallet. After getting his wallet back, Geonwoo wonders how he can spend more time with the owner of the sex shop so they can get to know each other. The only solution he can think of is to keep coming back and buying more sex toys! Comedy, Slice of Life, Romance
Circle (9/10): In life we all travel in our own social circles and when people don’t fit into the circle are attack by the collective. The main target is Xiao Shang who has a secret: he likes to cross dress. When a tall, handsome, and popular mixed blood prince from another class starts falling from him Shang’s circle starts growing. This also tells the story of two other boys in Shang’s class: Li Ao and Huo Xun. Li Ao is loved by everyone in his class; while Huo Xun is his best friend. School Life, Cross dressing, Drama, Romance, Bullying
***Dark Heaven (9/10): Conor and Simon live in a city where same-sex marriages are now legalized, but the streets are still dangerous with all of the homophobic and racist hate crimes. Conor and Simon star in the same band with the same dream of fame. Together they have a secret: they are madly in love with each other. However, Conor is dark skinned making him the target of many hate crimes until a particular night where his fingers are shattered making him unable to play the guitar anymore. Even through all of their struggles and disagreements, Conor and Simon can’t help but being drawn to each other. They are determined to make their love work even if no one is standing on their side.~I put this one off for sooooo long, but I read the first 60 chapters in one sitting. So good!~ Violence, Drama, Romance, Heartwarming, Slice of Life, Rockstar, Drugs
***If You Hate Me That Much (8/10): Minjae accidentally walks in on his underclassmen, Hyeongjo, jerking off to their assistant professor. Together Minjae and Hyeongjo become unlikely friends. They’re constantly at each other’s throats with all of their bickering, but find themselves draw to the other. They tell themselves that the reason they’re spending so much time together is to ensure that their secret remains a secret, but hate might just turn into love. All the while, the assistant professor knows about Hyeongjo’s jerking off and their developing relationship. He play’s devil’s advocate as he tries to get the two boys to realize their true feelings. Slice of Life, Comedy, Drama, School Life
***King’s Maker (10/10): Wolfgang Goldenleonard is the fourth prince of the Goldenleonard kingdom, but he rejects everything to do with the King after the King had his mother killed in a fire. After his mother’s death, Wolfgang lives off the streets until he surrenders himself to the castle to save a group of children. Through his selflessness he attracts the attention of Shin Soohyuk, one of the “King’s children”. The “King’s children” are a group of gathered children that are spoiled rotten in order to later serve the King (sexually). Shin Soohyuk is the King’s pride possession, but he informs Wolfgang that he will make him the King to dethrone the old King. Together Shin and Wolfgang work together to overthrow the current King. ~The storytelling is outstanding, the character designs are amazing, and it invokes so much emotions. I always look forward to updates and find myself rereading chapters~ Royalty, Drama, Suspense, Comedy, Romance, Historical
***Make Me Bark (9/10): Everything is looking great for Sungjoon who finally just got his own place–until it burns down! Now, Sungjoon needs to room with a flashy, rich kid from college. The only downside seems to be that Sungjoon’s new roommates has more than just hospitality on the brain. Through a strange series of events Sungjoon finds himself falling for his new roommate, but this only raises so many questions: is he now gay? Does his roommate like him back or is he just fooling around with Sungjoon? And why is Sungjoon wearing a leash? Slice of Life, Comedy, Drama, School Life
Nanohana Boys (9.5/10): This is the only entry on this list that is technically not BL, but don’t write it off yet. Onishi Yuu and Ishida Kenji might just be the cutest boys that are “just friends” in the world. That might also be because they have a unique connection: both of them have a disability. After living a reckless life as a delinquent, Yuu gets into an accent and loses sight in his left eye. This causes him to repeat the last year of high school again. In this year he meet Kenji who he learns, after being ignored several times, is actually deaf. Through their new bond they begin a strange friendship. School Life, Slice of Life, Drama
***Wolf in the House (10/10): After breaking up with his on again, off again boyfriend Minsuk decides it’s time to live for himself and do the things he wants to do. The first step to his independent life: to adopt the dog that he’s always wanted. He comes home with a Siberian Husky, named Bexan, that he rescued from the shelter. Little did Minsuk know that his “dog” was actually a shapeshifting werewolf that turns into a sexy man once the sunsets. Bexan explains that his goal is to get to Siberia to see the rest of the werewolves. He enlists the help of Minsuk to accomplish his goal, but Minsuk doesn’t want any part in this crazy plan. Instead he offers Bexan a place to stay till he figures out his plan. All the while, the two are slowly falling more and more in love with each other. The struggle with Minsuk’s ex, Bexan’s dream, and their races. Bexan is also an internet sensation as a dog and has his own Instagram account. Slice of Life, Drama, Comedy, Mystery, Supernatural
