A small blush couldn’t help but to creep onto Clare’s cheeks. Hopefully no one saw this as she quickly mumbled a small thank you to his English teacher and looked down at her desk, letting her curls cover her face. She could hear the quiet snickers that came from the back of the classroom knowing that they were intended for her. Clare bit her lower lip trying not to let their small remarks get to her. To this day, Clare never understood the concept of bullying, especially now with all the lectures the students have been through throughout their school career. Especially now when they know the severity of consequences of what happens to those that get bullied. A small smile tugged at her lips when she heard Mr. Goldsworthy snap his fingers at the group of people that were giggling to themselves.
Lifting her gaze from her desk up to the young English teacher, Clare couldn’t help but to think how sexy it was when he loosened his tie. Biting her lower lip and closing her eyes, Clare tried to push away any inappropriate thoughts about her English teacher. Sure it wasn’t a sin to think of such things with someone, but it was her teacher. A person of status. A person that could so easily be fired if she were to act upon her actions; even though she wouldn’t. At least she thought she wouldn’t. Clare couldn’t help but to think of how intriguing Mr. Goldsworthy was. He seemed completely passionate about his study of work. Something Clare rarely saw among her peers at school. Most kids would just call her a geek or a know it all since she did take her time and beyond to know the material she was learning. Her mind began to wander thinking if she was just a bit older than the age of sixteen. Would he find her attractive? Probably not. No one had taken notice of Clare since her freshmen year when she had gone out with K.C. Gurthie and everyone knows how badly that crashed and burned.
Not wanting to seem as if she was daydreaming, Clare would ever so often answer a question or voice her opinion on whatever Mr. Goldsworthy was talking about. She could hear faintly behind her the mumble of ‘know it all’ or ‘teacher’s pet’ but Clare simply ignored it. She didn’t seem to notice how fast the hour had gone by until she heard the school bell ring to go to their next class. Practically jumping out of her seat, she could hear a few snickers from around her as she blushed and began to pack her things up. It wasn’t until she heard her name being called was when she noticed that Mr. Goldsworthy wanted her to stay behind for a few minutes. “Oh, yes, of course Mr. Goldsworthy.” Clare flashed him a small smile as she put her things away, making sure she hadn’t forgotten something and got up out of her seat making her way to the front of his classroom. “You wanted to speak to me, sir?” Clare spoke politely as her mind began to wander as to why he wanted to speak to her.
A smirk spread across Eli's face as he saw Clare approaching his desk. Did she think she was in trouble? Although a smile ghosted her pink lips, there appeared to be something of a tentative nature settled in her eyes. "Yes," He chewed the inside of his cheek momentarily out of pure habit before he continued. "I had something I'd like to show you. I figured you would be interested in it." He lifted himself from his desk, giving a small nod to gesture towards the entryway of the classroom to indicate that they would be leaving it in favor of his office.

The heavy, cherry wood door creaked open in pain as Eli pushed it through to allow Clare and himself to enter. He strided over to his bookshelf, his eyes scanning the worn spines for a specific title before finding and selecting 'Lolita' by Vladamir Nabokov. He blew a bit of dust off the top and handed it over to Clare, a smile gracing his features. "It's a classic. One of my favorites because of the unique way it's written. Although Nabokov was a brilliant writer, he tends to ramble, so, you can consider that a warning if you find it a bit of a drag at certain points." He winked at her, rolling out his leather chair to take a seat behind his desk---forearms resting on its polished surface.
"It's about a man named Humbert Humbert who shares with us his taboo obsession with underaged girls. This book focuses on one in particular, and especially given its time period, it was a very controversial work and still remains to be. I feel like you would enjoy it, possibly." He smiled.

The sadness was starting to surround Jenna in her recent events of giving up Tyson. He was her everything and he was gone, as with K.C. She was beyond pissed at K.C and couldn’t even stand the sight or even the slightest thought of him. The thoughts wouldn’t stop and she needed a distraction. She looked at the posters that were all around school for Eli’s new play and knew it was the perfect distraction. The main role was supposed to be like Clare and they were best friends, so how hard could it be, right? She was also in Declan’s play last year, so she had experience too. The girl sat in her last class shaking with anxiety. There was no reason for her to be nervous but it was just natural because it was an audition.
The blonde haired girl zoomed out of her class as fast as she could to get to her locker and change for the audition. She wanted to get this over with but know immediately. It was almost like the rush of Next Teen Star but obviously not as popular, it was a school play after all. She had a couple jean jackets that Clare used to wear and she would choose one to wear for the audition. Jenna decided on the darker one and then headed to the theatre where the auditions were being held. There were a lot of other girls that she saw there, which only made her nerves grow more. She bit her lip as she sat down and waited for Eli to announce the auditions to start.
Eli Goldsworthy tapped his foot impatiently on the cool surface of the stage as several potential stars of the latest play filed in to audition. "Alright, everyone," He mustered up a smile despite how stressed he was feeling over it all, "Come on in, take a seat in this front row of the auditorium please," he instructed, now pacing back and forth a bit, a crumbled script in hand, some coffee in the other. His eyes were heavy with nights spent pouring over his new script. He had been running on caffeine and pure determination. Apparently, that was all it took to go a little over twenty-four hours without any rest to speak of. Unfortunately, it also did a bit to irritate his Bipolar symptoms. His anxiety was almost through the roof---the caffeine being the main culprit of that and the grinding of his teeth that he had been getting.
"Okayy," He spoke out loud, his deep voice echoing off the walls of the large room as he did a quick head count, every so often glancing down at his clipboard to check for names that matched with the faces he was seeing. "Guys," He announced to them, his eyebrows raised, "after I call your name, please come up on here onto the stage and show me what'cha got. Don't be nervous, I don't bite, although I do look a bit scary. I promise it's just a lack of sleep." He chuckled a bit, stifling a yawn. "Ahh," He scanned his list. "Jenna...Middleton?" He found that it was more of a question than a statement, but, he was surprised to see her there. He only saw her as the latest Christian to join Becky's bible thumping band of ignorant assholes. He didn't think she would be interested in his play. "Uh, come on up," He said, a hint of the dumbfoundedness still tinged in his tone as he looked at her from the stage.

Clare was excited to start the school year to say the least. Most teenagers her age would moan and groan about having to get up at 6 in the morning to get ready to learn. However with Clare she was one of the rare ones that loved going to school to learn. She loved to absorbed everything and anything, ever since she was a child. She didn’t care if she called a nerd or a geek for her love in school because Clare saw it as she was giving herself more opportunities in the future for herself. With the mass knowledge of everything that she already knows, Clare could probably go into almost any field of work she desires. One subject that really called out to her was English. Clare had already been checking out colleges in and out of the country for where she could study for Journalism. Already she was leaning towards Columbia in New York; one of the best journalism schools.
As she sat relatively close to the front of the classroom, Clare waited for her teacher English teacher to arrive so they could start class already. Over the summer they had already received their schedules and who their teachers would be for the year. She remembered opening the school letter and her eyes filling with excitement as she saw who her English teacher would be. Mister Goldsworthy had definitely been the talk of amongst her peers when they all went to orientation and noticed the new teacher standing up on stage with the other teachers. Clare herself couldn’t deny of how handsome he was. When you thought of teachers, the thought of a young, handsome man with dark locks of hair, and from what she could tell from where she sat were the most intense jade eyes she has laid eyes on were definitely not the characteristics that would first come to mind. It was by pure coincidence when she found his Tumblr the other night. She knew she shouldn’t have followed him as a friend, but she couldn’t pass the chance up; especially when she began to scroll through his blog.
Flipping through her notebook, Clare blushed to herself as her eyes fell upon her already written essay that was suppose to be given out today. Clare couldn’t help herself last night and just began to write. She had only meant to write a few paragraphs as starters, but ended up doing the entire paper. Biting the inside of her lip she began to read over what she had written and dried to ignore the murmur of students talking in the background. After a few minutes of scanning her paper, Clare heard the doorknob to her classroom turn and click and she couldn’t help but to smile to herself at how quickly the students around her quickly shut their mouths to gawk at Mr. Goldsworthy. Gently she closed her notebook and gave her full attention to the young English teacher, but she couldn’t help but to notice how good looking he was in just a simple white collared shirt, black tie and slacks. She could hear a few girls gossiping quietly behind her, whispering about how hot he was and what not.
Clare hid a small smirk when all the students began to groan about having to write papers knowing that hers was already ready to be turned in. She was definitely excited that Mr. Goldsworthy wasn’t like her other English teachers. Doing the same old topics every year; so on and so forth. She was excited to be indulging into newer topics. She knows that the topics he will pick out probably won’t be as challenging as she would like them to due to the other students that aren’t to her level but Clare has had to deal with that issue for most of her school life though. She was seemingly surprised when he had called on her to ask for a few examples of topics she would like to see done. Her eyes widen for a moment being on the spot. Her mind wheeled for a few seconds, quickly thinking of a few ideas. “Oh there’s quite a lot we could write about, along with different types of essays too. It would be interesting to do a few debate essays and have class discussions with them or even an actual debate. Maybe a few philosophy, social problems, and future type essays.” Clare shrugged her shoulders as she spoke clearly. She wanted to be more specific, but she didn’t feel like having to deal with the murmurs of students calling her a goody two-shoes or telling her that it’s her fault that they have so much work.
Eli dragged the tips of his fingers across the surface of his desk as he walked beside it, listening intently to Clare's response. Once at the edge of said desk, he pivoted on his ankle to face her, a lopsided smile playing on his features. "Those are excellent ideas, Ms.Edwards." Upon hearing a couple of snickers from the far left corner of the classroom, he lifted a hand and snapped his fingers once, the girls in turn trying to attempt to stifle their giggles. She was intriguing to him. More than she should be at the tender age of sixteen. He knew that he shouldn't have been enticed by the way her eyes seem to brighten when speaking of subjects that interested her---or the subtle way her pink lips formed around certain words.
He tore his gaze in order to fixate on the rest of the class; he couldn't make himself so painfully obvious within the first couple weeks of class. He shouldn't feel this way to begin with. Eli cleared his throat, loosening his tie a bit before calling on a young man seated on the opposite side of the room---young man, who was very obviously not paying attention. He knew the hour would tick by at a painstakingly slow pace. He would keep stealing glances at the brunette with the tumblr, and he would equally attempt to repel her in order to keep his status as a teacher at Degrassi.
He lifted his eyes to the clock on the wall: it had only been ten minutes.
~ ~ ~
The rest of the period dragged on as he had predicted. As usual, Clare Edwards was one of the few who actually knew a thing or two about---anything, really. He had wondered if his own generation were quite this dull in the head or whether they had gotten worse over time. He was the one of the last generations to learn by traditional means such as using a chalkboard and toys which were not running on batteries or electricity. He partially blamed the technology. Then again, maybe Clare was exceptionally bright. This was where dangerous thinking entered his head. He hoped it wasn't the latter, for fear of making her even more interesting. Fortunately for himself, he was forced out from his thoughts once the clanging bell that signaled the end of the period echoed throughout the room, surely vibrating the eardrums of everyone having to receive its call.
"Clare?" He asked, trying his best to remain causal---well, causal formal. As causal as only formal could be. She was a student. Crushes were inappropriate. "Can I see you for a moment?" Her first visit to his office. He gnawed at the inside of his cheek in order to hold back the smile that was wanting to break out.
This was not the way for him to end his little crush. 'Good job, Eli,' He mentally kicked himself as he waited for Clare to approach his desk.

The only sound that echoed throughout the white wall corridor of Degrassi High School was the sound of Eli Goldsworthy's feet as he made his way to his English classroom to teach. He had only just graduated from Toronto University a year before, a young man of twenty-three with green eyes that stood in a bright contrast against the dark locks of his hair. It was not uncommon for giggling students to confuse him as a peer---the only things that seemed to give away his true status were his dress shoes and his 'school appropriate' attire. Today it was a tailor-fresh, buttoned-up white shirt---complete with a sensible, black tie and a pair of tan slacks. He prided himself in his appearance---his young face often gave off the vibe that he shouldn't be respected quite as much as an older member of the Degrassi faculty should be.

Upon reaching room 135, a simple twist of the large, silver knob enabled Eli to pull open the heavy oak door to reveal his classroom. As he entered, his coffee sploshed around a bit in his mug with 'Mr.Goldsworthy' printed in Times New Roman font. One of the many gifts from his parents during his graduation. He felt his lips move as he lifted a finger to count the heads of who all was in attendance. He set his coffee mug onto the desk, straightening out his posture before smiling warmly, "Good morning, everyone. Hopefully, you all are ready to learn---the first few days of class we just discussed rules, procedures, and things I expect of you while you take this class. Today, I will be assigning you your first paper." He raised a hand to the groans that began to fill the room. "Now, now, you know I can't just let you sit here all hour. No more complaints, please, or else anyone groaning gets an additional paper to stack onto this one." He raised a brows, expecting to hear a protest. None. He smiled, "alright, then. Your paper will be on what you did over your summer vacation." He turned his back to the students, grabbing a piece of chalk and writing it out on the blackboard. "I will be grading based on quality, not the length, however, I do ask that you at least have one full page. Single-spaced, typed, Times New Roman font. I want the paper to be in MLA format, which we will be going over tomorrow. Today, we will be discussing some possible paper topics we can do after this one. What would you guys like to write about?" As Eli scanned the room for a possible volunteer, his eyes landed on a certain, finely curled, blue-eyed student that of course sat close to the front. Clare Edwards; the girl he had followed on tumblr. He knew he shouldn't have---it was inappropriate. The little shiver down his spine when he locked eyes with those oceanic orbs was inappropriate. He noticed such minor details about her---the way her copper curls bounced in a childlike fashion as she tilted her head in keen interest during some of his lectures---and the way her lower lip always seemed to be tugged at by her teeth when she was a bundle of nerves. "...Clare," He pointed her out, ignoring the honey-esque taste that the name left on the tip of his tongue.

Hey, give my generation a little credit here. At least they’re into supernatural type literature, even if they do involve sparkling vampires.
Oh they loved my work. I practically had every teenage girl at the school drooling from my stories. It was more like they were based off of a crush I had. Then I let my imagination interfere with reality.
I promise I won’t, Mr. Goldsworthy. I’m good at keeping secrets. Really good.
Hmm, I don't know if I would call Stephanie Meyer's books literature. Have you ever read any Anne Rice or the original Dracula? Now, those are vampire stories. ;)
Good.
I will see you tomorrow, then.
manicdepressiveeli started following you
Oh you were? That was the main subject of what I would write about for my fanfictions. My stories didn’t involve any sparkling vampires either.
It’s nothing bad honestly I can assure you. Just the entire school body found my fanfiction site, but didn’t know it was me; well for a while until they found it by a simple accident I happened to do.
Well at least you’ll make the effort of thinking of different topics for us students to write about. I think it’s completely sad that most teachers here and at other schools just use the generic topics for writing papers. But I can’t wait to find out what kind of topics you can think of.
I like the sounds of modern fanfiction that doesn't involve Twilight-esque vampires.
I'm sure that your work is above and beyond satisfactory, Ms.Edwards. You seem like a smart girl and probably talented as well. Anyone who may have given you a hard time were probably nothing short of jealous.
I look forward to having you in class tomorrow. However, remember, loose lips sink ships---don't tell anyone I shared the topic with you before the rest.
manicdepressiveeli started following you
Whatever comes to my mind honestly. Nothing in particular. If anything I write a lot of stories that would be considered fanfiction type stories though I’ve been trying to write more professional type ones.
Oh nothing. I shouldn’t have even mentioned it. Just something that happened during my grade 9. It wasn’t trouble like sitting in Simpson’s office and get a stern talking to or anything like that.
That is pretty cliche. I think I’ve written a paper on that subject at least every year of school since I was able to write. Hopefully you won’t always be giving out the boring topics for papers like most other teachers do.
Fanfiction is a fun thing. I used to be an avid writer of all things vampire-esque. I would also like to add that none of my vampires 'sparkled' like the ones do now.
Alright. I won't push the subject---just know that if you ever need to talk, you apparently now have my tumblr.
Exactly, so why must we break tradition by me not assigning such a paper? The topics will increase in quality after this one, that, I can promise you. There is nothing more boring for a teacher than to read the same regurgitated essays over and over. I am wracking my brain for some topics that would provide entertainment not only for the students but for myself.
manicdepressiveeli started following you
I am good a keeping secrets. Let’s just hope that no one else finds your Tumblr profile.
Oh yes I write a few stories here and there. Thankfully you started working the year after the whole Madame Degrassi fiasco happened. Oh really? Well thank you for the heads up, Mr. Goldsworthy. Do I get to find out what the subject will be about or do I have to wait?
Stories? Hm. Interesting. What sorts of stories do you tend to write about?
Madame Degrassi? Now, why would that be a thankful thing? I can't imagine a girl like you getting herself into any trouble.
I suppose I could tell you the topic. It's only fair since I mentioned the paper to you to begin with. I was thinking, why not go a little cliche? I chose the simple topic of what everyone did over their summer break. I don't think I've properly earned my title as an English teacher until I assign one of those key topics.
manicdepressiveeli started following you
Well I wasn’t expecting to find my English teacher on this website. Indeed it is a small world even for the large world of the internet. If it’s too weird though I could always unfollow you. Wouldn’t want you to get into any kind of trouble. I think the whole student body if you lost your job over something as silly as a student following you on a social networking site. Your writings? Of course, you’re a English teacher, you would have writings of your own.
Might this be the time to point out that you followed me first, Ms.Edwards? I don't think it's at all appropriate. If I weren't certain that you were a mature girl who could keep a secret, I would have to tell you to unfollow me.
Indeed, I do. How about you? Your grade 11 English teacher tells me that you are a writer yourself. I will be assigning you your very first paper tomorrow. Think of this as a heads-up.
manicdepressiveeli started following you
Fancy seeing you here Mister Goldsworthy. What brings you to the world of social networks?
Well, well.
Color me surprised, Ms.Edwards. I did not expect to see a student of mine on here quite this quickly. Small world, even on the internet, I suppose. I came for the abundance of art that this website offers for reblogging/sharing and what not. I also figure that as a 'blogging' site, I could also use it as a place for some of my writings.
Do I owe anyone? Like this post.
Long Time No See || Imogeli
The clock ticked tediously as time passed. The cafe was a bit busy. Lip-glossed girls gossiping in one corner about the whereabouts of an upcoming party---two uncomfortable teenaged boys wedged somewhere in between them. Eli Goldsworthy imagined that they were probably hoping to get something out of the female dominated outing. His sweating glass of coke had already managed to pool a ring on the surface of the table as he waited for Imogen Moreno to show up. In truth, he hadn't been there long. Time just had a way of trudging at the speed of a person immersed in a thick mud would. Slowly, with little progression. The raven-haired young man was unaware as to why his foot bounced impatiently. It had been awhile since he had seen Imogen. Of course he would be a bit antsy with anticipation when it came to hanging out with her. Although, this explanation did not sit well with the portion of his brain that supported morality. He had a girlfriend. A girlfriend was a girl that was not actually a friend at all---like Imogen was supposed to only be---and she happened to be busily chatting up some freshly-tailored executive as she pressed for answers that the interviewee may have originally planned to stay mum about. Probably doing so without a care in the world, not a chip on her shoulder. He may have even crossed her mind. Or, perhaps not. The two had been at odds as of late---and he was unaware of the cause. Or, maybe he was aware of the cause but chose to plead ignorance so that he would not have to be the one to finally sever the rope that bound he and Clare Edwards together. The rope that had moved its way from his wrist and shimmied up to his neck, giving it a good squeeze at this point. No, they definitely not what they used to be. There used to never have been an imagined rope at all. Their fingers laced together were the symbolic binding of the two. He knew he was wrong to ask Imogen to come out to see him. Although Eli was normally good at resisting things like peer pressure---he could not seem to refuse the temptation that was dangling itself in front of him. Temptation apparently had brown hair with a smile that would make the hardest of hearts melt into puddle in their chest cavities.
He was pulled violently from his thought process when he heard the ring of the bell above the doorway that indicated when someone was entering.
