it's really funny how the entire world basically just blew the fuck up six short years ago and nobody wants to admit that that may have had some lasting consequences lmao
like so much of Everything today is premised on the idea that the earth-shattering catastrophe which happened within living memory of everyone older than a third grader has had no meaningful material or psychological effects on the general public and i don't think that's good, lol.
"(some of) the top-line economic indicators (sorta) recovered (in most places) so everything is fine and we don't need to talk about it" is not a sustainable framework for interfacing with reality
"why is everyone so angry and paranoid now?" "why is politics so dysfunctional now?" "why is [x] [y] and [z] now? blah blah blah"
2020:
u know, maybe we wouldnt have to cycle thru the same handful of feminism 101 discourses every couple years (can women be misogynistic, is "biological sex" a real thing, are men harmed by the patriarchy, etc) if yall actually read some feminist/queer theory instead of just copying the opinions of other ppl on tumblr who also havent read anything
or if u cant be assed to know what ur talking about u could at least have the decency of shutting up
did u actually identify a double standard endemic to society as a whole or did u just see 2 unrelated events among the few hundred blogs u follow in ur niche subcommunity on this dead social media platform and draw conclusions from that based on ur preexisting biases
Silly wolf comp

riding the trolley out of omelas because i'm a little too shaken to walk rn and i just heard this weird thump from the tracks. probably nothing
#they arrested the trolley driver and the guy in charge of track switching #and i hear they're both being offered some kind of plea deal if they agree to testify against the other person
awarding this the first good riff on this post award. thank you tumblr user anyagobsin. this is the first good riff anyone's had on this post.
americans are a saudi oil baron's idea of classy. brits are an american's idea of classy. the french are a brit's idea of classy. unfortunately the chain ends here since the french's idea of classy is also the french
there's an old anne rice interview circulating on twitter rn that i remember reading ages ago where she makes a pretty salient point about how submissive men who have bdsm fantasies etc will go to a sex worker and basically order the ala carte version of their fantasy to be performed in real life but women don't really have that same option and certainly not at the same point of availability so they read her horny books instead. and honestly that argument has been in the back of my mind every time people get on their high horses about the popularity of booktok romantasy novels or heated rivalry or whatever the "women are horny and we're upset about that" cultural property du jour is ever since. women, especially straight women, have so few outlets for their sexual desires, especially if they have a partner who doesn't share them, and i will never understand why "someone ELSE'S private sexual fantasy makes me uncomfortable and therefore they should not be allowed to engage with it, even if i am in no way being affected by it or even aware of it at all" is such a popular party line among allegedly progressive young people.
everyone who is an excellent writer thinks they suck and will never get published. everyone whose writing sucks ass is actually getting published and displayed in barnes and noble
(Shane drunk w/ a little Russian accent) gimme kiss
in my heart i know that cliff and ilya got so drunk they couldn’t stand straight and then went to the boston cop slide together at like 4am
it really is crazy how much the love hudson has for shane comes through in his performance. he loves shane and he understands shane and he brings that out in his acting. the reason hudson makes such a good shane is because he is a phenomenal actor, yes, but also because he loves him. it's really incredible to see
