I wanna start by saying this is *NOT* a pregnancy announcement...
I'm 36 and childless, but I believe I'm getting to the perimenopausal stage of my life, for various reasons, so I bought a testing kit... Now I only have one working eye, and it's not perfect vision, but I think I see a faint positive line...
I guess I'll have to retest
Feeling very anxious...
Two weeks ago, I had what I think is a Menieres Disease attack.
It started with an earache, then progressed to a full blown migraine, then the vertigo and hearing distortion set it!
I could only sit up for around 30 seconds before having to lay back down, it was like that for 3 days.
Then under my left eye swelled up, I looked like I'd been in a fight!
After 5 days that went down, but I've been left with an awful pressure feeling, in and around my left ear, going up onto my temple and into my left eye, I spoke to a Dr on Tuesday, who prescribed me 2 days worth of Sumatriptan, and said if they didn't work to call back in two days...
Well, I've just got off the phone to the Dr and they want me to go to the hospital...
Now I'm slightly freaking out!
Update!!!
So I went to the hospital, where they tested me to see if I'd had a mini stroke, thankfully I haven't! (That was a worry because my Dad had a few mini strokes in his life)
They think it's likely that it was a Menieres Disease Attack, but I have to follow up with an ENT to get a formal diagnosis (at least I think that's what he said)
They did bloods and my white cell count is elevated, nothing major, just likely from the ear infection and I found out my left eardrum is perforated, and it could take 2 months to heal
Which means I can't listen to music...
But on the plus side, they gave me some very strong pain meds while I was there, and when they kicked in, I was higher than the heavens! 🤣🤣🤣
Update two...
I had another attack yesterday, vertigo, room spinning, hearing fluctuation, tinnitus, nausea, ear pressure, the whole lot...
Which worried me because the antibiotics cleared up the infection, so I had an phone appointment with my GP, who's now started me on a medication called Betahistine, which helps treat Menieres Disease, and I have a f2f appointment next week to make a treatment plan going forward.
I know I always wish my mum was still with me but right now, I really wish she was here, cos I'm scared...
Update three...
Today is the day of my appointment, but it's not until 14.20pm...
I don't really have a positive or negative reaction to the Betahistine, because they said it could take between 3-8 weeks before they begin working...
The after effects from my second vertigo attack, didn't wear off until Monday, so I felt dizzy and off balanced, and I fell and hurt my back, plus I crashed into the wall a few times too 🤦🏻♀️
I'm really anxious about this drs appointment, I'm not sure what the plan going forward will be, I feel like I've been thrown into the deep end, without being able to swim... If that makes sense?
Me and my family are used to lung problems and dementia... With those we know what to expect, as morbid as that sounds, but a condition where you lose your hearing? That's a whole new playing field...
Don't mind my venting, I'm just over here feeling sorry for myself 🤣🤦🏻♀️
Update 4...
I forgot to update after the drs appointment, so here it is...
She checked my ear and said that the hole in my eardrum had gotten bigger than what it was when I got checked at the hospital, she said there was only a small outer rim and the rest was open, but the infection had thankfully cleared.
She also said the outer rim looked like scar tissue, and asked if I'd perforated it before, I said not to my knowledge, but when I was four years old I had Grommets put in my ears, and had my tonsils and adenoids removed, and she said thats the scarring could be from that and why my eardrums weakened enough to perforate.
I explained that I was still off balance, tinnitus in my ear, and all that and she said it's either the perforation causing ALL of it, but the symptom sound too much like Menieres also, so she referred me to the proper ENT clinic, as an urgent referral, as I potentially may need surgery to fix my eardrum.
And that brings us to today, I got a call from the ENT clinic, and I've got an appointment for a hearing test on the 17th July, and then an appointment with the ENT Dr on the 21st July... I don't know why it's on two different days, but it is what it is, so now I just have to wait and see what they say... (Fingers crossed they say I don't need surgery)
Sidenote: I'm still feeling the fullness pressure in and around my left ear, and I've had a couple more vertigo attacks, I still have the tinnitus in my ear, it hasn't gone away like it used too - I'm guessing it's not going too - and my hearing sorta cuts in and out in my left ear, but on the plus side I no longer have the constant pressure in my left eye, which I'm very happy about! But on the downside, I've been getting more regular migraines in that eye, which I'm assuming is to do with the ear pressure somehow...
We had an epic Storm last night, so I sat in the dark in the living room watching it, and I got this...
I absolutely love watching lightning, but it's not often that we get storms where I live.
I'm going through some stuff right now, not depression so to speak but, still not okay!
I lived with my grandparents (Dad's parents) since I was 13, last year when my nan was... ill, she said some things to me that truly hurt me and accused me of trying to poison her... So I packed a bag and went to stay with my aunt (mum's sister) because I was worn down, broken... And the longer I stayed away the better my mental health became... But then it got harder to go back... Then my nan died on boxing day, and I just felt like the worlds worst person! My nan needed help, she wasn't well, it was the illness making her say those things, and instead of staying, I ran.
And everytime I go and visit my grandad, or speak to my aunt (Dad's sister) I feel like they resent or hate me for leaving...
I feel like there's a rift now between me and them, and I just feel immeasurable guilt for leaving, but I was so broken, that I know if I had stayed, I wouldn't be here now to be writing this! That's how worn down I was...
So yeah, right now I'm not okay... And that's okay.

And in the two World cups since she's been gone (8 years), they've done better than I ever remember, so with that being said...
I would find it hilarious, if on with would've been my Mum's 60th birthday year, that England win their second World Cup!

I have some sensory issues due to being on the spectrum, like if I wear loose fitting clothes, I have to wear tight Spandex shorts and tops underneath, otherwise I feel uncomfortable and irritated.
I can't have the big light on, I can tolerate a lamp, but once I'm alone, I sit in the dark with a candle lit.
There's other stuff too, but at the moment my issue is sound, now I have these...
And as you can see, I've had to add to the earpiece, I've got cotton wool balls inside earpiece, then the sports tape wrapped around, because I'm trying to block out as much noise as possible.
And I've been trying to find a good pair of ear defenders that block out noise the best, that are at an affordable price, I don't think they make them able to block out everything, but that's what I want...
Can anyone recommend any good, reasonably priced ear defenders? Or have any tips on how to block out noise the best with what I have?

It's my 36th Birthday on Friday, and instead of feeling excited my mood/mental health has spiralled! But it's not for the reason most people would think.
On the 20th of March was the 20th anniversary of my Dad's passing, he died a month before my 16th birthday on 2006, at the age of 36.
On Friday, I will become the same age as him, then on October 23rd, I'll become older than him...
I always knew this day would come, and I thought I'd prepared myself for it, but now that it's almost here, I just feel pain, anger, and sadness...
