A TINY LITTLE ESSAY ON THE BOOK OF DEEDS, FLOWERS & CURIOSITY
There are plenty of stale yellow seeds spilled all over my table from those flowers I bought last week, the surface of the table looks as annoying as an outdated world map. Picture this, I peel off from the north edge of Taiwan to make room for a dinner for one and I brush off the crumbs with the bushes of New Caledonia. In the midst of this global mess, that notebook is the only thing I keep neat and clean. A very personal paperback book of deeds keeping a record of all my amateur sins, my foregone merits, my boring wishes, my amusing observations, my right and left sketches and of course, some coffee stains.
There is certainly a reason behind the word LAMENT, crafted on the cover of that notebook with capital letters. I haven’t given a single thought about that, I am just saying whatever comes uppermost. Oh, and I am picking my dots and commas very carefully in order not to disgrace your beautiful face I recently get to know. You know what, something has just flashed through my thoughts; if only I would be the very first one in this universe to use the word “shadow”. Since there are no better words to describe the reasons hiding the curiosities on your face. I didn’t like that shadow. I want those lovely eyes and nose and mouth to bugger around, to immigrate freely from their designated coordinates. You guffaw, for instance, while that nasty curiosity locates itself to the tip of your nose like a red stain. It won’t be that long that this stain gracing the temple of your face, the new inhabitant of your nose, becomes purple like a mulberry, it deliquesces and itches with joy. It starts expanding out from the center of your face and occupies the whole facets of your skull. While you are stumped in a skull with a pulled pin, you can’t refrain yourself from asking this slim question: “Do you lament for something?”. Don’t get me wrong, it shouldn’t sadden you. I prefer that shiny, proud, sharp and genuine curiosity that strikes the pupils of your glazed eyes. Because that curiosity, my new friend, is clumsy yet attentive. It doesn’t text you everyday but makes sure it compassionately awaits for the right time and place, like those brief and silent moments. Let me note that metaphor down to my book of deeds! If one day, you ask, for real, I will give you that smile, brief and silent.
