You know that scene in the Will Ferrell movie “Talladega Nights “, where he crashes, hops out of his race car with his arms flailing screaming “I’m on fire, I’m on fire!!” , but nothing is wrong with him or the car. In the same way sometimes the way we perceive things are much worse than reality. A lot of the times we are justified in our reaction but often enough we are simply overreacting. We stub our toe out of bed or spill our morning coffee and think “oh, it’s gonna be one of those days” letting the little things influence the big. If we just take a moment feel our skin we’ll see that we aren’t on fire or things aren’t as bad as it seems. In fact, things are probably amazing given the absolute blessings we take for granted. Our health, family, income, shelter, food, purpose, spouses, children these are blessings many are not afforded and some have none of these. So next time you think things are going up in flames roll around in the many blessings you have.
