We almost broke up last night (again)
summary : another stupid argument with Jaxson lands you at Eli's place, feeling more at home with him and his kids then your supposed "boyfriend"
an : I made myself giggle writing this idk why I love writing toxic ass couples
warnings : a small affair, (cuddling in bed but nothing past that) r played college volleyball (only sport I know how i know how to play give me a break), a lot of casual misogyny from Jaxson, r has rope burn from Jaxson being wreckless in bed, actual cheating
pointless arguments had become the norm at this point, each one more stupid then the last, "you can't just ram helmet first in to guys ten times your size and expect to pop back up each time." Jaxson just rolled his eyes while sighing, "it's how I play, you've known that since we started dating." like that made you feel better, "that doesn't help Jaxson, I worry when you go down, imagine how you'd feel if I got hit by someone ten times my size." this wasn't getting anywhere, him and his little boyfriend Cam were going to be CTE studies in 70 years. "Well you didn't exactly play a hard sport." There it was, he never fully respected your hard work, last time you checked only one of you had a national championship and it wasn't him.
"I gotta go, the guys are playing call of duty today and invited me." he left with a kiss on the side of your head. Jaxson always ducked when it came to serious things. The quiet of your "shared" appartment was suffocating, it barely even felt like your place, just an apartment you happened to stay in. Eli had become a small stream of income, and comfort. he insisted you could come over when ever you wanted, no matter the time of day. All four of his kids had grown to love you, becoming their babysitter for when Eli had to work late. The 30 minute drive to Eli's felt like someone was pulling at your throat. The rope burns around your body felt like they were on fire. Jaxson had gotten too rough with them after a bad game, the same game that triggered your argument today.
his home felt like actual people lived there, dumped off equipment from his sons practice, rain coats drying over the stair railing. It felt, comforting almost. "Hey, what are you doing here." Eli comes around the corner, having heard the door slam shut, "Jaxson, just couldn't be alone so I came here. I'm sorry if this is bad timing." his eyes softened, Eli always listened to your rants about anything that crossed your mind, "it's not bad timing at all, the kids all are asleep so it's perfect timing anyway." taking your bag from you, with out even being asked."
"so how did thay date you told me about go?" staring at the salad placed in front of you, not being able to shake this gut feeling. "Eh, won't be a second date but it was nice to put myself out there." he shrugged off, "what was eh about it?" looking in to his beautiful eyes, "she was just, boring, I don't know how to fully put it, she just took everything so seriously." the weird gut feeling was replaced with jealousy, "so what was it with Jaxson this time?"
falling face first in to your arms, salad pushed aside, "I told him he needs to stop going helmet first in to 300 pound defenders, that got him mad, he then said I didn't play a hard sport, and earlier that day we fought about how he's more romantic to his teammates then me." You've never felt this deflated and unwanted. "He's currently at his teammates house, for the third time this week, he's called Cam "baby" more times then me this week." fully melting in to the island. "Jaxson is an idiot, I've always thought he was a tool but seeing how he treats you makes me dislike him more." rubbing his hand up and down your back.
"you need to relax too, you're so tense. Go take a hot shower, all your weird skin bottles are in the top drawer and I'll get you something to change in too." lightly pushing you to his master bathroom. "Yes sir." dragging your body to the shower. the rope burn makes itself known yet again, why did you agree to let him fully tie you up. not even realizing that Eli had stuck a warm towel & one of his shirts in the bathroom. Seeing that almost brought tears to your eyes, in a few short months Eli had cared for you more then any boyfriend, past or present. the warmth from the shirt felt good over the burns, walking in to the bedroom to see Eli in his bed reading something off his phone, "you feel better?" putting his phone down to pay full attention to you. "Yeah, thank you for the towel and shirt." Eli brushed it off like it was nothing, eyes raking over your body just to see the outline of the ropes Jaxson had used on you. "What's that." pointing at the raw burns around your thigh. "oh it's nothing." Eli knew it wasn't nothing. "Did he do it to you?" now fully standing up, "Eli it's nothing I promise." trying to walk away from him. "Is that rope burn?, I over heard him bragging about how rough he was when I went to a practice." now you just felt sick, Jaxson was bragging about hurting you?
"yeah it was him, after the loss he wanted to destress so he tied me with some rope from Home Depot." basically falling in to Eli's bed, "I feel humiliated. How much did he say?" It took every ounce of self control in Eli's body to not shoot Jaxson right then and there. "Not much that I heard, just about how rough you let him get with you." you didn't even like it super rough, barely remembering the last time you two had actually soft and kind sex. "I don't like it when hes that harsh. It gets to a point." At this point Eli had fully pulled you in to him. unlike Jaxson, Eli was kinder, never once even brought any ounce of pain when he touched you. "Go to bed angel, he can't do anything to you here." Eli's bed, and touch, lulled you to a better sleep then you had gotten since you moved to New Jersey. the fifteen "hey girly" texts could wait for the morning.
