High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air...

Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor
Vought F4U Corsair
One of the best fighters of the Second World War, the Corsair was largely obsolete as a front-line air-superiority fighter by the outbreak of the Korean War, but was still in wide service with the U.S. Navy and Marines. It was repurposed primarily for ground-attack and close air support (CAS) missions.
The Corsair performed very well in its new role—its rugged design, long range, and heavy ordnance load made it one of the most effective close-support aircraft of the war. However, it was outclassed by jet fighters like the MiG-15 in air-to-air combat.
