Who’s there?
The Sheriff. My turn for questions, why are this close to a break in?
I don’t think that’ll happen.
I've got faith in this town.
"This town is going to give me a heart attack."
"It’s fine dad!" He half yelled at his father. He rubbed his face, rubbing his thumb over his forehead. He will always worry about his dad getting too involved with everything. "I told you dad, I feel down the damn stairs! Just..believe me please. No."
John said nothing else for awhile. Instead he grabbed his jacket, gun and badge. It was supposed to be his day off, but right now he'd rather be at work. "You're lying." The man spoke, shaking his head. "Give me your keys or I'm taking the battery out of the damn thing."
”But it is fine!” He looked down, he hated lying to his own father. He hated it so damn much, but he didn’t want him involved, didn’t want this to happen to him too. “I’m lying for your own good dad. I’m not grounded. I told you! I fell down the stairs!”
"Your face is not fine!" The older man shook his head, really done with being lied to by his son. He knew of the supernatural now and always worried more now. "You just admitted to lying! Yes, you are. Until you tell me what happened to your face. Give me the keys to your jeep."
”Saying what!?” He closed his eyes, stepping back yet again. “Well, maybe you just need to forget about it. You can’t just ground me dad. I have a town to save, I’m not like a normal fuc—freaking teenager.”
"That it's fine. It's not fine!" John was tired of being lied to, more so from his own son. Holding his hands up in surrender. "Don't tell me what I need. What I need is for my own son to stop lying to me. I'm the parent, therefore yes I can ground you. Tell the damn truth."
”It is fine.” He sighed, stepping back again, arms almost hugging himself. “I just don’t want you to worry about me. You have enough to worry about. So, let’s just stick with I fell down the stairs?”
"Stop saying that!" John yelled, letting out a sigh and running a hand over his face. "Knowing that you're lying to me only makes me worry more. No. Let's stick with you're grounded until you tell me the truth."
”Dad, it’s fine.” He flenches and steps back. “I just.” He sighed, looking down. “I fell down the stairs.”
"This is not fine." John shook his head, stepping towards his son, arms folded. "I thought we were done with lying to me, Stiles. I want the truth and I want it now."
”It’s just a small cut—don’t worry about it. OW.”
"A cut I'm wondering how the hell you got." John reaches to inspect the wound. "Tell me the truth. Now. What happened?"
I’m too old for this shit.
Just wait until you're my age.
‘No, it’s fine really.' Emily looked down 'Do you want some food or something?’
The man ran a hand over his face. Nodding at the mention of food. "Does it involve a cheeseburger and some curly fries?"
Team parents.
She forced a smile and nodded ‘Yeah. I fall a lot but I’m usually always okay.’
John sighed, looking the girl over to make sure she was okay. "I'm sorry for laughing at you. It's been a long day."
"Did I do something funny?”
"Honestly, I'm not sure anymore."
‘Oh. Was there a joke I missed?' Emily was sincerely hoping that she had missed a hilarious joke and that he wasn't laughing at her recent mishap. Since Em wasn't the most coordinated girl out there she managed to slip or trip and fall quite a pit.
"No, no joke. I'm sorry for laughing at you." Okay, so laughing at the poor girl he now felt a little bad. "Are you at least okay?"
"
"No, I wasn't laughing at you." John, don't lie you'll set a bad example.
At least it’s not something else doing the killing, Derek thought, knocking slightly on the Sheriff’s office door before entering. “Sheriff.”
Finding out about the supernatural things that happened hadn't made John's job any easier. Looking up from his paperwork and over to the male. "Something I can help you with,Derek?"
