[he pokes his head outside of his door and chuckles as he spots his boyfriend in beach wear.] Hmm… would that activity involve sand and water?

[hum hum] [he only almost died in the winter here] [he’s convinced he could handle Canada] Maybe Cuba or Miami in the winter then, Canada in the spring or summer. I think you’d dig Havana though. The legit Havana. Not just resorts and shit.

What’s your family like, Matt? You’ve never told me much about them.

[he laughs] Miami or Cuba in the winter sounds like a much more relaxing vacation than trying to brave Canada. It’s beautiful in the winter sometimes, but... I think I would rather explore your hometown.

Hm? Oh! I guess I have not spoken about them much haha... I’m an only child and I grew up in a pretty small town. My mama is one of the most friendly people you could meet and would absolutely love to meet you. My dad is a bit quieter and was the first one to help feed my love for reading.

[laughs] I could handle it in the winter, you’re underestimatin’ me. How much worse can it be than here, huh? We can definitely hit Cuba though. I’d like you to meet my family, maybe.

[rolls his eyes but lifts Abel’s hand to give it a kiss] I am not underestimating you really but I do think you would enjoy it more if we were not trying to visit while it is buried in snow. [chuckles] We could do a trade then. I can go and visit your family and you can go to visit mine. I think that would be fair.

[he takes matt’s hand while he’s driving] We should go sometime. To Canada, I mean. I’ve never been before, y'know. Only ever been to Cuba and a few other states before comin’ here.

[smiles and gives his hand a squeeze] I would like that. Although we probably should avoid going during the winter months. I’m pretty sure you will freeze. Although I would like to see Cuba eventually too.

Easier way but that was way more satisfying than anything else. Besides, I didn’t really wanna blow that thing up again. I had to do it myself [whew] [he gets into the driver’s side and starts up the car and they’re on their way!!!] Any good beaches in Canada?

[laughs] Fair enough. Although maybe we should deflate it before we head home from the beach. I’m not sure if we will be able to fit it in there again. [nods and buckles up] Yep! There are a number of them! There are some on the ocean, obviously, but there are also ones on the freshwater lakes as well.

[he pulls his hands back in time and smiles real big] [it worked and he’s so satisfied] Fuck yeah, I knew we’d be able to figure it out. Let’s get goin’, yeah? I’m ready for the beach. [he lets the dogs into the backseat of the car]

Whoo! Victory is ours. After that puzzle we definitely deserve some beach time. [he pumps his fist into the air in victory and helps Abel herd Kuma into the car before he climbs into the passenger seat] There was probably an easier way to deal with the floatie but we made it work.

Never had much reason to go on ‘em anyway. Not really into that sorta scene [also expensive as fuck and he was broke]

I mean, I can try and shove it into the trunk. I think that’d be better than just hopin’ they don’t pop it with their nails, y'know? So, huh, give me a sec. [he starts to try and maneuver it, getting it in at least but its] [a tight fit] If you put the trunk down real fast and I pull my hands out before you shut it, it’ll probably stay. Probably.

It’s not really mine either.

[he nods and watches with amusement as Abel tries to fit the floatie into the trunk] Alright… on the count of three. One… Two…. Three! [he starts to slam the trunk shut as soon as he knows that he won’t hurt his boyfriend.]

Not that I’m not used to hella crowded beaches. Havana? During spring break? Jesus. Dodged the fuck out of the resorts. [he stands up once Matthew announces they’re ready to go] 

Nice! I, uh, dunno how I’m gettin’ this thing [gestures towards the floatie] into my car, but I guess we’ll figure it out.

Oh man, I’ll bet. Spring break sounds like it would be a crazy time there. It was probably wise that you avoided the resorts.

[laughs and looks at the floatie, tilting his head] Hmm... That is a good question. Will it fit in the trunk? If not, I’m sure the dogs can just put up with it just hanging out in the back seat with them.

[grins] You betcha. We said we were gonna start doin’ stuff outside, and it’s been ages since I’ve gotten to go to the beach. So I figured we’d grab the dogs and headout for the day, yeah?

[he smiles and steps aside to let Abel inside for a moment] Ah, good point. We did indeed say that. Give me a moment to grab my stuff and pack up Kuma and I’ll be ready to go. [he’s already tossing a swimsuit and towel and sunscreen into a bag]

[there’s an attempt to get the floatie through the door but] [eventually he just drops it and leaves it in the hallway] [it’ll be awesome at the beach but not so much here]

[while Matthew’s packing he pets Kuma] It’s real nice out today, too. Hopefully the beach won’t be super busy since it’s sort of a weird day for it.

[Matthew laughs] True. It is an unusual day to visit but hopefully you are right and that means it's quieter. [he tugs some sandals on and clips Kuma's leash onto him] Alright, I think we are ready too.

[laughs] Yeah, you’re really pourin’ your heart into the bakery. It’s good, seein’ that you’re so passionate about it and stuff. [he runs his fingers along Matthew’s arm] How’s Erika been, too?

Erika's great. She has been putting a lot of herself into the cakes she makes and it really shows. Her birthday was pretty recent actually. I do worry about her working too hard sometimes and burning out though. [relaxed hum]

It’s actually kind of annoying and that is why I enjoy just relaxing with you. [smiles at him again and gives him another kiss] Its always good around you.

[laughs and rests his head against Abel when he is pulled closer, basking in his presence] We really don’t. We’ve been dating for months now but... I don’t want to rush things and ruin them. I’m positive we will make that step when the time is right but I don’t want us to feel like we have to be doing anything just because of how long we have been dating.
