                truthfully? her accusation was probably accurate -- he had taken the bracelet without asking or telling her. did he see it as theft however? not at all. ❝ uh--- h-hey, star! ❞ maybe he could distract her from her search for the jewelry -- at least long enough to keep her from going into his workshop. BROWS SNAP UPWARDS, perplexity painting features. What an odd question to pose; secrecy is an unnecessary precaution. Only those who seek to abuse what the reveal should be scrutinized, and those bearing loyal hearts are far from duplicitous. With metaphorical teeth bared and ready upon his initial arrival, one would assume the criticism from Serah’s companions would sour his opinion of them, label them overprotective — hostile, even. But it is healthy skepticism; all but a is glance required to gauge the extent of their trustworthiness. Now appeased, there is far more receptivity to the unknown and to his words. He feels little need to uphold such qualms. 

          ❛ I don’t see why not? Keeping certain things quiet is one thing, but you guys are Serah’s family. I don’t think she’d want to keep secrets from you. ❜

          ❝ oh, cool... ❞ he can’t help the grin that spreads across his features. ❝ wasn’t sure how all that worked...talking about what happens in the future, i mean. there’s not any risk of backlash, though? you telling us...er, me now doesn’t run the risk of changing things?  ❞ he wouldn’t hide the fact that he was excited to hear about their journey, what they’d done throughout. still, he’d rather be cautious and leave himself in the dark if it meant keeping the future safer for serah and noel to fix.

The girl looks off for a moment. Did that still qualify for a hero, she wondered? He had such a simply definition, but others didn’t. She’s sure of that. So just as there was a chance she was someone’s hero, there was a chance she wasn’t. Strangely enough she was fine with that. She hummed, brushing down the wrinkles in her dress before speaking.

“I’m fine with not being a hero.” She decides. “I prefer working in the background.” Or rather, she didn’t have much of a choice. But, details. She looks back towards the blond boy and smiles. “What about you? Are you a hero?”

          ❝ that’s okay, ❞ he answered with a small smile, a nod tugging on his chin. he wondered, then, why she’d made it sound as though she were upset she couldn’t be....that was what had started all of this, right? but he shrugged it off when he heard her speak again, a soft hum of thought preceding his answer. ❝ well...i’d certainly like to think so! even if it’s not so much me as a person as much as it is my whole group of friends together....            ❝ we’ve helped lots of people over the past three years. i can’t imagine i wasn’t someone’s hero by this point. ❞ a soft chuckle followed his conclusion, another nod accompanying it.

She stood waiting, with a slight annoyance, near a frequented NORA training ground. Part of her wanted to just leave yet she knew she owed this to Gadot. He had asked her to try and train Maqui, because no one else in NORA could seem to get through to him. It wasn’t that he was bad… he just wasn’t great in combat. Letting out a sigh she crossed her arms as she waited for a few more moments. 

Spotting him a ways away she quickly closed the distance between the two of them. ❝ So, ❞ Her voice was emotionless, even as she tried to put up a ( very fake ) positive front. ❝ You ready to train? ❞     

          truthfully, he hadn’t even been sure she’d actually show up. and that was after getting over the shock of the proposal from gadot. did she hate the group of them or something? or did her dislike truly only extend to snow? either way, he supposed he was about to find out....

          ❝ sorry i’m late! ❞ he called to her in greeting, falling still after she began closing the space between them in order to catch his breath -- after all, presumed odds of her deciding to flake or not, he hadn’t meant to oversleep or to be late. he did want to show the others he cared. ❝ i got...distracted last night and lost track of time. um...i gu-- ❞ a frown as he stopped himself short before he amended his answer with a nod. ❝ yup! ready for anything! ❞
