Friends On The Other Side Curse - to cause nightmares for someone who is insulting you, gossiping about you, or otherwise making your life difficult by running their mouth

Don’t you disrespect me, little man Don’t you derogate or deride You’re in my world now, not your world And I’ve got friends on the other side

You will need:

Photo of the person, or a blank cloth poppet

Target’s hair or nails, if you can get them

Black marker, or needle and black thread

Valerian (for a constant groggy feeling)

Juniper berries (to cause visions)

Lobelia (aka Gagroot, to make them choke on their words)

Allspice (to alleviate diarrhea of the mouth)

Cypress (to cause dreams to become nightmares) [Substitute for Yew]

Vinegar

Jar with tight-fitting lid

Coins or food offering

Step One: Take the photo or poppet, and the black marker or needle and thread, and draw X’s or sew a series of cross-stitches over the mouth. The number will depend on how badly the target has been slandering you. For worse transgressions, use more X’s.

Say:

I bind your mouth, I bind your voice Because you made the foolish choice To insult, slander, and seek to maim, But now it is YOU who will be shamed.

Step Two: Place the poppet or photo, and the hair and nails into the jar. Add the lobelia and the allspice. While adding the valerian, juniper berries, and cypress, say:

No more words and no more speech But dreams I place within your reach Into your head these herbs will send A nightmare world without an end You chose to derogate and deride Now meet my friends on the Other Side

Step Three: Fill the jar with vinegar (or urine, if you prefer), and seal it. Wax or duct tape around the rim will prevent escape.

Step Four: Take the jar to a cemetery. Bury it inside the gate. Leave the coins or food as an offering for the dead who dwell there. Walk away without looking back.

Cruciatus Curse

Things needed:

Poppet

Kinife

Salt

Vinnegar

Fire

Make as many cuts in the poppet as you can. Fill the cuts with salt and vinnegar. Close the cuts. Say: Your flesh is a prison of torture. I won’t stop. I give you pain, with no nurture. Untill nothing but suffering you got. Throw the poppet into the fire and say: Crucio! Let the poppet burn completly.

Personalizing a Spell

Sometimes, you find a spell you really want to use, but it feels impersonal to just copy what someone else did. So what do you do? You personalize it.

Option 1: Changing/Adding/Removing Ingredients.

This one is fairly self explanatory. You take something you associate with the intent of the spell and add it in, or you take something that doesn’t fit your associations out. To make it more personal to you or the person you’re casting it for, you could add a hair, saliva, or something that belongs to them in. (Make sure to acquire whatever it is legally)

Option 2: Changing the Environment.

This can be a little more complicated, but it’s still relatively easy. You can set up music in the background, perform the spell in a certain place or a certain time, or you could try to feel a certain way when you perform the spell.

Option 3: Changing the Spell.

Last but not least, changing the spell itself. This can be done in multiple ways. You could change the order of the steps, you could change or add words, or you could do all of the above.

Try mixing and matching, and you may create a whole new spell that is completely your own!

Crystal ball Scrying

A scrying ball is a tool of divination. Scrying means “to make out dimly” The intent is to clear the mind and look for patterns or images. Don’t expect to see pictures (images, symbols, images) use your intuition to interpret these. Don’t scry for too long when you begin or you may strain your eyes. Place the crystal or other reflective surface on a table in front of you, so you can sit comfortably and gaze into it, to prevent reflections place a black cloth under or behind the crystal. Place candles in front of the back drop behind the crystal. Before you begin chant:

Crystal orb, tiny moon, Bring my senses all in tune, Help me see, more than stone, help me know, let it show Surface shine, as I stare, Insight true, I’m aware

When your ready to begin relax your body and don’t get distracted, don’t stare straight at the stone; allow your eyes to go into a soft focus. Try this staring for a few minutes at a time, working up to five minutes. Remember this form of divination isn’t for every one but it is a great technique to learn.

Gentle witch little things

Simple things you can do to bring more love and positivity into the world:

enchant the bus or train you’re on, so that everybody has a pleasant day or a safe travel home

paint protective sigils in the misty windows of buses or shops when it rains, and leave words of encouragement and praise on public bathrooms’ mirrors

bless passing ambulances and firefighter trucks with speed and safety for their patients/destination

wear an enchanted lipstick/gloss for your smile to brighten the day of everybody you meet

enchant your spare change so that it gives luck to the beggars you donate it to; they need it, don’t they?

actually, just enchant your money, so that retail and low-wage workers can have a better day when they serve you

leave blessed acorns and harmless trinkets in various places like buses or waiting rooms; give other people something to wonder about and make their day, and kids an item to roll in their hands mindlessly

bless food and leave it for stray animals; let birds be messangers of hope and miraclous event for everybody that sees them

whisper encouragement to trees and grass you pass by; let them know someone cares, someone sees their beauty, and awaits their bloom

smile at children and pets; provide them with the positive energy that the world is trying to kill in them

leave motivational notes, praise and silly drawings charged with love and hope on posti-it notes as you go; they can brighten the day of those that dind them

After many requests, I’ve made a rebloggable version of my ‘Weather Magic’ page. Here you will find heaps of resources to help you with weather/storm craft. If you’ve read some of my previous posts about weather magic you will notice some similarities - that is because this is a collection of every weather witching post that I’ve ever posted compiled into handy resources post.

Weather Magic

The term “weather magic” or “weather witching” has been used to mean anything from divination and forecasting of weather to actual control and manipulation of the weather itself. From calling up treacherous storms to destroy another’s crops or providing fair winds for those at sea, witches (and even those who do not consider themselves to be such) have always been involved with weather magic. When you consider that most forms of magic are based around an agricultural past, the ability to affect and predict the weather was considered an invaluable skill. After all, if your family’s livelihood depended on the success of your crops (or the ability to find water as it did in my family’s case), weather magic would be an extremely handy thing to know.

Why the url Storm Born Witch?

I am quite fortunate, as the gift for weather related magic comes easily to my family. For generations, the men in my family have been dowsers or water diviners. However, it wasn’t until after I displayed an aptitude to weather related magic that I was told about my family’s history with it. My grandfather was the last water diviner in the family and he died when I was very young so I was never taught how to divine for water. My grandmother was the one to teach me what little she knew about weather magic - the rest either occurred naturally or I picked up along the way.

Calling Up A Wind - Whistling Up A Wind

This is the most common form of weather magic and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Depending on the pitch and tone of the whistle a witch can create a gentle breeze or a sharp gust of wind. Traditionally, if the skill of whistling up a wind does not come naturally to you the option of making a ‘wind whistle’ out of willow or alder wood is available.

Here in Australia, whistling up a wind is probably the most common form of magic I do. I honestly do not go a day without whistling up a cool breeze. It’s bloody hot here and sometimes a cool breeze is just what you need.

Storm Casting

Storm casting is the art of creating storms. There are many different methods to creating storms and bringing rain. The method used by my family is to fill a jug with water and while sitting outside (or facing a window) pour the water into a basin or bowl. Dip the tip of your pointer finger into the water and slowly make five clockwise circles in the water (if you have a pendant necklace this can be used instead - just above the water in the bowl). As you are making the circles call the wind to bring in a storm by blowing (or whistling a continuous low note - the sound of wind over the mouth of a glass bottle) over the water in the basin.

Ways to Stop a Storm (Dispersing, Binding & Preventing)

There are multiple ways to stop a storm. The most common are dispersing or binding storms. However there are also ways to prevent storms from coming by directing them away from where you are. This is great if you’re holding an event outside and you need good weather.

Dispersing

This method involves spreading the storm out over a large area thereby minimising its effects. You can disperse a storm by calling winds to blow it away (or in a certain direction) or if you favour using weather maps you can draw the low pressure system moving away and gradually dissipating.

Binding (Storm Catching)

This method is also called ‘storm catching’ and involves catching a storm and binding it within an object (usually a bottle or knots) so it can be released gradually at a later date by pulling out the cork or undoing the braid/knots.

Storm catching or “reeling in a storm” is even more difficult than storm casting so it’s always wise to think before you cast. Too much energy put into a storm and it will go on for weeks (and cause some flooding - basement incident) or it will be extremely violent and knock down power lines and tree branches. Too little energy and all you will get is a 5 minute shower of rain.

Preventing a Storm (Weather Maps)

However, if you wish to prevent a storm from forming, you’re going to have to pull out the weather maps. To make a weather map all you need to do is to print out a map of your local area or the area you’re trying to keep a storm away from.

Just use google maps and don’t make the area too big or you might seriously strain yourself magically. Then laminate the map - now you have your own ‘whiteboard’ to draw weather symbols on to generate certain types of localised weather.

To practice this kind of magic you really do need to know how weather systems work and how they’re likely to move; knowing a little bit about meteorology goes a long way.

Once you’re ready, find out what the weather is predicted to be and draw it on your map. Now draw the high/low pressure systems moving so that the area you’re trying to protect doesn’t get rain. This method can also be used to bring rain to a certain area.

Simple Protections for Yourself and Your Home

All of the things listed below are measures that I have either tried myself, learned from friends, or picked up from a book somewhere along the line. I have a fairly extensive listing in my Book of Shadows, cobbled together from various sources, most of which I do not properly remember. However, I feel that most of them are close enough to common knowledge to excuse my lousy memory.

1) Lay a line of salt across a doorway or windowsill. Refresh each time it rains or whenever you feel uneasy in the room/house.

2) Over a doorway, hang any of the following:

White sage (protection, purification, warding)

Besom (protection, house blessing, can be made of many woods)

Iron horseshoe, open end up (fortune, warding off ill luck)

Pentacle/ankh/etc. (house blessing)

Rowan twigs (protection, warding off intruders)

Twig of acorns (protection, refresh seasonally)

Charm bag (made to specific purpose)

3) Keep a bottle of anointing or perfume oil on your altar. Include it in the circle whenever you cast a blessing or spell of protection or healing. Then, on days when you feel low or drained or in need of extra strength, anoint your pulse points and your third eye with a few drops. (This also works with consecrated water, but I find the scent of the oil to be a nice reminder throughout the day.)

4) On your altar, keep a small dish of stones and/or crystals with which you have a resonance. Allow them to absorb magical energy from your venerations. When you have need of their properties, simply slip one into your pocket. (This can also be done with small pieces of jewelry. I find anything with a crystal works particularly well.)

5) Sleep with spearmint leaves under your pillow or mattress to ward off bad dreams and keep you safe while you sleep.

6) Hang an ivy plant by the front door to keep away negative influences and unwanted guests.

7) Smudge a room with white sage to cleanse the atmosphere and clear away negative energy.

8) Leave a trio of white candles burning in any room that feels heavy or oppressive.

Shower Disks for Cleansing and Purifying

So you have seen our lovely bath magic spells but you cannot take a bath. Maybe you don’t have a bath in your current residence, maybe you are physically unable to use bathtubs, maybe you’re just super stretched for time but want to get in some extra magical umph. Recreational Witchcraft is here for you.

Shower disks are traditionally used in the aromatherapy world to relieve congestion and other flu-symptoms while showering via the use of essential oils, but we will be bumping up their magical potential.

Basic recipe:

1 cup baking soda

1 tablespoon corn starch

1/3 cup of water

Muffin tins and muffin liners

Cleansing and Purifying:

essential oil of rosemary

essential oil of lemongrass

dried peppermint leaves

dried lemon rinds

dried rosemary

Combine baking soda and corn starch (making sure there are no clumps), then slowly add in the water. Fill lined muffin tins about third of the way, then add in dry herbs and spices. Leave out to dry for at least 24 hours. Carefully take disks out of the liners, add your essential oils, and place your disk somewhere in your shower that will allow them to dissolve slowly while you shower. Bam, you’re done.

When it comes to healing salves, there are a couple kinds that prove their need most often. Though everyone has different preferences and different recipes for those salves, these are ours.

Sore Muscle Salve

3 Parts Cloves

2 Parts Arnica 

4 Parts Cayenne Pepper 

1 Part Basil

Bug Bite Salve

3 Parts Calendula

1 Part Plantain

2 parts Cloves

Topical Menstrual Cramp Salve (To be applied to the abdomen)

1 Part Rose

2 Parts Clary Sage

Cut & Scrape Salve

1 Part Comfrey

2 Parts Calendula

2 Parts Plantain
