I pressed her head against my chest, trying to comfort her. She resisted for a moment, bearing her claws outward like a cornered animal. Her body was tense and her breathing strained. I think this was the first time anyone had hugged her. "Shh..." I spoke softly "I won't hurt you. I'm not sure what's happened in your past, but what matters is that you're here now. I won't abandon you to your fate. Please, let me help you..." I stroked her head, her soft red hair trembling beneath my fingers. I could feel something wet and warm against my shirt. Slowly, she collapsed into my arms, tears streaming down her face.

My main OC, Cerys. A Cleric turned Necromancer, she struggles with mental hurdles that obstruct her ability to reliably heal the living while finding the task of raising the dead to be a walk in the park.
