Here’s a link to The Dark Specter a funny little superhero short I did some music for. Check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2adWBBwcas.
In May I had the pleasure of finishing up a project I’ve been working on for the last 14-ish months. We recorded musicians and mixed the music for the animated feature GET SQUIRRELY in Toronto. I spent the first week recording musicians (mostly horns) at Revolutions, check them out if you ever need a bad-ass room in Toronto. The rest of the time we worked out of Mach Sound Studios in Toronto, a bunch of amazing guys and gals over there. I had a blast doing the music for this film and thank everyone involved for giving me the opportunity to compose the score AND write songs for the film. When I get a release date and an official poster I’ll make sure to post it.
My first foray into directing. The project is entitled INTO THE FOG and explores the story of Sergeant Marvin Harris an Iraq war vet struggling to overcome the symptoms of PTSD. Through this film we hope to offer some insight as well as bring some awareness to this epidemic that is effecting so many families here in the USA and abroad. My cast and crew are all incredibly talented people and we all worked extremely hard to make this shoot a success. I think the images look great and I can't wait to share the finished film with you all.
This is the instrumental track un-mastered from the song Este Miedo. I've always loved the weirdness of this track and thought I'd share with you. You can hear the full version here on Cuchata's second album Sangre Mixto: http://cuchata.bandcamp.com/track/este-miedo
Some music of mine from way back...
I'm upgrading my studio now and that means backing up and moving files. Joy! Anyhow because of that I came across some tracks of mine from back in the day and I decided to share:
Here is a spec poster for the film I'm currently working on. I really loved this version of the poster. Can't wait to say more when I can!
Animated movies...
...are a trip. Never before did I realize how much work goes into these things. I worked in Toronto for the last month writing actual full length songs for the film and getting really excited to record them. Now on to creating some themes. I can't wait to announce all the details... I'm told soon... so as soon as the words official I will post what I can.
My home for the next two days doing final mix of The Conduit... Next week Toronto to work on Cartoons! Yay!
Failsafe Tee from Two Dogs and a Bear... Love these guys, check them out: http://twodogsandabear.bigcartel.com/
Been a good year! Updates and things to come...
Wow it's been a very eventful year... I haven't posted in quite some time so here is a very short update on things that have been and things to come.... This year I've been churning out music for clients like crazy... Most of this music has ended up on TV or on the web and for that I'm grateful, since that's what pays the bills. I also had numerous fans, friends and family see the Cabin Fever video in Costco (on the TV's they sell), Wendy's, and gas stations across the US and Canada. Very cool... Oh and my hair is super long and mountain man like, which I like.
This coming year looks to be even busier, some things to look out for are... I'm composing the music for two feature films, one is a lower budget horror/thriller for some friends and the other is a super top secret big budget animated feature that I can't tell you anything about (more to come on that I promise). I'm also working on a new EP for my solo stuff which I should be putting out by the second quarter or so of 2014. I'm really excited about all of these new projects. I've also decided I should posting more things on this blog about all the music I produce including film and tv, and my producing (film and music) as well. So stay tuned in 2014 for a more regular and updated Marcelo Quinonez Tumblr page.
Much Love and Respect!

2/27/2013 I'm playing a live solo show at The Other Door in Noho!!!

Hello All, I will be playing a solo sow on Feb 27th in North Hollywood at The Other Door Bar. Come down throw back a couple drinks and hoot and hollar while I serenade you. It will be fun, and I'll playing some new tunes. Sweet, see you there!
Born and raised in Los Angeles California, Marcelo fell in love with music for the first time listening to a variety of music. From the rhythm focused sounds of Salsa and Reggae to the soul bearing lyricism of Young and Dylan all were a part of his early musical indoctrination. Quiñonez started honing his skills over the years writing and performing mostly Latin music with his band Cuchata while living in Seattle. Cuchata toured up and down the West Coast and gigged regularly in Seattle, gaining good press and licensing numerous tracks for TV (Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Road Trip Nation among others) and films (most notably the IFC films feature “Mercy”). Experimentation on the last Cuchata album (which charted top ten in world & Latin categories for non commercial radio in the US and Canada) and other musical wanderings while writing TV and film music, led to new opportunities over the last three years. Through this experimentation and a new batch of experiences Marcelo decided to embark on another musical path. To find a new sound that was more fully representative of his own personnel dialogue and making that musically and emotionally universal. The songs presented in Marcelo’s first solo E.P. are stripped down, and raw. Vulnerable and pure, leading the listener to focus on the song it’s self, and the sentiment and feelings behind it. This was the only goal for this new project, write honest songs and bare the soul for others to relate. With this new debut E.P. Marcelo has come full circle in his progression as a musician and found the courage to share the soul bearing truth that inspired him from the beginning.
