4月2日 京都 蹴上インクラインから疎水沿いにぶらぶら。鴨川経由で京都文化博物館まで横断しました。 途中、京都国立近代美術館と、素敵な本屋さんと紅茶屋さんに寄り道。仕上げはジュスカグランペールのコンサート。 我ながら上出来の1日。

Sherlock is wearing a cravat en coquille ~ it fits the one described in The Art of Tying the Cravat by H. LeBlanc (1828). 

While this is a very pretty (and unusual) knot, it doesn’t seem to be a clue or a reference? 

Unlike say, collier de cheval, sentimentale, a la Byron, Mathematique, or Irlandaise. 

There’s even a style of knot called The Gordian Knot … 

Is it too much to ask that the Sherlock special dabble in the the language of cravats? After all, floriography - the language and meaning of flowers - was all the rage in Victorian England …
