Rue du Jerzual in Dinan (Brittany, France) Dinan in northeastern Brittany is a wonderful and romantic medieval city. The little medieval town (population about 11,700) on the hilltop above the Rance River has many fine old half timbered buildings dating from the 13th - 16th centuries, with cobbled rambling streets, all carefully restored and preserved. The town retains a large section of the city walls, part of which can be walked around.
