❝ in your dreams, red. you just don’t seem mean compared to me and mare so i keep thinking you’re nice. ❞ he grinned back across at her. ❝ i think you’ll find that vodka is actually an angel. ❞
❝ fine ❞ lily wrinkled her nose in his direction before laying on top of him, head resting on his shoulder as she stared at the ceiling. ❝ ’m almost as tall as you laying down. ❞ no, she wasn’t, but she didn’t look that much shorter when their feet were beside each other.
marcus chuckled as she laid down on top of him, but didn’t move an inch to make her more comfortable. she had brought it all on herself. ❝ yeah, you wish we were, red. you’re still just as much of a short-arse laying down. ❞
lily made an outraged noise, before sitting on his legs, swatting his stomach. ❝ move over. ❞ she whined slightly, pouting at him.
❝ nope. ❞ he folded his arms and shook his head, opening his eyes just a crack to peek at her.
❝ really? i’ve wanted mine done, but i haven’t decided yet.❞ she shrugged, moving off the couch to get something to drink, coming back with a glass of water and a package of sugar quills.
❝ it didn’t hurt too much. ❞ he shrugged again and fell silent when he heard her get up. he shifted so he took up all the space on the sofa, smirking slightly to himself.
❝ t’was your idea, to get pissed. yours and mare’s. s’not my fault you’re regrettin’ it now. ❞
❝ you’re mean when you’re pissed, red. it’s that orange vodka that mare had. ❞
❝ i’ll keep that in mind. ❞ she said softly, with a smile in her voice. she’d heard mary say the same thing, really. her issue was that she didn’t know if she wanted something else permanently on her skin, even if she chose what it would be this time. absently, her hand went to her right arm, feeling the scars that she kept well hidden. ❝ hmmm? oh. just my belly button, really. at least, that’s the only place appropriate.❞
❝ good. wouldn’t want you to go some place that’s shite and it get infected. that shit is nasty. my mate got a tattoo on his back and it got infected, it was gross. his skin started peeling. ❞ he ran a hand through his hair, itching the back of his neck.
❝ i got my nipples pierced when i was eighteen. ❞
she pushed herself up to look, before laying back beside him. he was right; the room span too quickly when she stood. ❝ mmm, i think so. or she passed out on your bed.❞
he opened his eyes a little, blinking blearily at the ceiling. ❝ shouldn’t have drunk so much, red. m’head hurts. ❞
❝ i won’t ❞ she promised, shifting slightly, before shaking her head, realizing afterwards that he couldn’t see her. ❝ erm, no. i can’t think of anything i’d want. i’ve got some piercings though.❞
❝ well, if you do decide on one that you want, i’ll take you to the place me and mary get ours done in. they’re proper nice and really good artists. ❞ he shifted a little on the sofa, stretching his legs out. ❝ what piercings do you have? ❞
❝ don’t be scared. i’ll protect you, mate. ❞
❝ thanks, red. did mary go? ❞
❝ i like sparrows. i think they’d look brilliant. ❞ she blushed slightly, mostly because anything marcus got tattooed would look brilliant on him, because he looked brilliant.
❝ sparrows are cool. ❞
❝ yeah, sparrows are cool. i know mary was thinking of getting some, so don’t tell her that i am. ❞ he managed a slight smile, but he didn’t open his eyes to notice her blush. ❝ you have any tattoos, red? ❞
❝ the room spins when we don’t stand up too. ❞
❝ it’s less scary laying down. ❞
❝ that sounds wicked ❞ she nodded, sitting on the other side of the sofa, resting her head on the back, green eyes fixed on him. ❝ is there any particular reason why sparrows? ❞
❝ glad you think so. ❞ marcus nodded, yawning and closing his eyes as he rested his head back, shrugging minutely.
❝ nah, no reason. i just think they look good. ❞
❝ okay, but why are we laying on the floor? ❞
❝ because the room spins when we stand up. ❞
❝ of what?❞ lily said, following him up, only a few feet behind him, despite her shorter stride. once in the flat, she dropped her bag, shrugging off her jacket.
❝ i was thinking of getting a pair of sparrows on my back, above my shoulder blades. ❞ marcus replied calmly, throwing his jacket over the back of the sofa and flopping down into it, a hand running through his hair.

lily followed marcus dutifully, a slight spring in her step as she shouldered her back higher, fingers going through her hair. mary wouldn’t mind them hanging about, really. nothing to worry about. ❝ i bet the girls love this devil-may-care persona you’ve got.❞
he grinned over his shoulder at her as he unlocked his front door, cursing under his breath as the key absolutely refused to turn before it finally gave way. ❝ i don’t think that the girls love anything about me at the moment, red. i’ve pissed quite a few of them off. d’you think i should get a new tattoo? ❞ he moved the conversation on quickly, heading up the stairs to his flat.
❝ i know ❞ she commented smartly, throwing him a tongue- in-cheek grin, all confidence and cockiness and teasing. aside from the fact that she knew she didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell with the older gryffindor, she did like spending time with him. which she would never admit; it was a matter of pride, really. ❝ so who’s skirts’re you up tonight then? ❞
he rolled his eyes at her comment, dropping his arm from around her shoulders and starting to walk towards his flat, trusting that she would continue to walk beside him.
❝ i don’t plan it out in advance, y’know? i go wherever the mood and the alcohol takes me. ❞
