Cooking was something neither Sam nor Colby could ever master, but baking was an exception. For Sam, it was something simple ā follow the recipe, and measure ingredients. Cooking takes trial and error, which neither one had the patience for.
āYou finally done there Sam? Youāve been baking all morning.ā Colby asked, crossing his arms as he walked into their shared kitchen. Sam had already taken his new dessert out of the oven and is currently cooling on the kitchen island.
āJust about,ā Sam replied. He ran a knife around the springform pan, gave it a few wiggles, before lifting the ring out.
Sam had made cake. Cheesecake more specifically.
āWoah,ā Colby started from the opposite side of the island, āthat looks surprisingly good.ā
āWow, thanks,ā Sam rolled his eyes playfully at Colby's sarcastic remark. Colby eyed Samās new creation curiously, not knowing if he was allowed a taste.
āCheesecake tastes good when itās chilled, you know,ā Sam remarked.
āOh really?ā Colby played along. āWell, what if I donāt want a taste.ā
āI was just sharing a fact,ā Sam shrugged as he grabbed the plastic wrap.
Before covering the cake up, Sam looked up at Colby. The blonde gave him a smirk.
āGo get the knife.ā
Colby beamed a smile while bouncing off to the nearest kitchen drawer. āYouāre the best Sammy.ā
Sam couldnāt help but flash a smile himself. āI know.ā
