Margaret’s sudden interruption took Vivienne by surprise, within a matter of seconds the woman next to her had completely taken the deal out of her hands. Something Vivienne wasn’t incredibly fond of. Margaret pulling her gun only seemed to add the clear frustration on Viv’s expression. Luckily the men seemed to take the warning incredibly serious, agreeing with Margaret’s terms and leaving the office all in under a couple of minutes.

With the two men now gone Viv perched up from her seat, lips pursed together tightly. Quickly, she barked some orders to the handful of her own people standing around the office, telling them to leave before turning to Margaret next to her. “What did you think you were doing?” she spat venomously. “You work for me remember, I do not need you to question my authority and to make me look like a fool in front of everyone.”

Margaret didn’t allow herself to smirk until the men left the room, but it was interrupted by Vivienne’s voice ordering everyone out. She wasn’t going to like this, not one bit. With a sigh, she turned to face Vivienne as she reholstered her gun. “You were making yourself look like a fool Viv.” She remarked with a roll of her eyes as she stood. “They were making a mockery of us, it was clear you didn’t know what you were talking about. If you let them take advantage of us now, they won’t stop”

She pulled out a cigarette from her pocket and lit up there and then in the office, figuring if Vivienne was pissed with her already she might as well do what she wanted. She had spent so long being careful recently it was nice to let loose for just a moment. “I don’t ‘work’ for you” She let out a bark of laughter “Don’t you remember our deal? Equal footing, so let me do what I do best, and I’ll let you do what you do best.”

Everybody Wants To Rule The World || Margaret & Vivivienne

{ @margaretshall }: Vivienne was sitting behind the desk in her office at 21 Red, Margaret right by her side as they were in the middle of a deal with some local arms dealers. The night had been long and tiring, it had proven to be difficult to find middle ground. The discussion had gone back and forth for ages now and to say Vivienne was irritated would be an understatement, it wouldn’t take her much to snap at the first person to cross her.

She glanced over to Margaret, lips pursed as they wiped yet another offer from the table. “Gentlemen, please I understand where you are coming from but let’s try to come to an agreement tonight.” Vivienne responded icily to which she just got another slur of conditions. She ran a hand through her hair. “You know what, fine, as long as you stay away from our territory” she agreed, waving her hand and not paying any mind to the definately not amused expression on Margaret’s face.

This meeting was truly dragging on forever, and her patience was beginning to wear thin. She regarded the men across Vivienne’s desk and tried to keep her face from pulling into a sneer. It was actually ludicrous at how they thought they could try and pull this deal into their favour, she wasn’t sure if it was because they believed her and Vivienne were new on the scene or if it was purely because they were women. She had spent most of the meeting quiet, observing the transaction, only making comments here or there about increasing their supply of higher grade weapons or where exactly their territory ended. 

Vivienne was, as always, taking the drivers seat in the meeting, but it only took for her to agree that fifteen clean guns for twenty thousand dollars was reasonable for Margaret to know that this was clearly more her area of expertise. Her mouth dropped slightly open as she heard Vivienne agree to, quite frankly, preposterous terms, and she couldn’t stay here idle any longer. “No, we’re not doing that.” Her voice was stern, indicating there would be no flexibility to what she was saying. “I don’t know if it’s because you think we’re inexperienced or whether it’s you who is inexperienced but this rouse you’re trying to pull won’t stand. Your terms are asinine and the goods you offer are sub-par for the amount of money you want for them.” She leant forward in her chair, teeth bared in a snarl. “I feel like you’re trying to make us into the butt end of a joke, I don’t take very kindly to jokes.” Venom dripped from every word as she raised her eyebrow, right hand hovering by her holster on her hip. “So, you are either going to half the price of your C-grade weapons...” With what seemed like a small flick of her wrist, her glock was in her hand and pointed across the table “...or I will put a bullet in both of your heads and take them for free. Now I know which one I’d rather do, but this is up to you.”

“Do not worry, I’m never talking about this again and waiting for everyone to forget so we can act like it never happened.” her words were followed by another large gulp of her drink. “Sadly enough, you never get used to it. It’s been over four years and still doesn’t feel normal. How long have you been here now? A couple of months?” she asked. “It will never quite be like home but I’d like to think I’m doing a nice job at showing them how we get shit done in Europe.” Vivienne joked, sending the girl a smrik. “I could never quite keep up with your slur of hook-ups and one night stands, how do you even have the time for it?” not that Viv minded that much, she wasn’t exactly looking to have someone in her room for one night just to kick them out the next morning. In general, she hadn’t really been looking int0 relationships in a long while. 

“Like what even happened?” Margaret asked with jokey smirk, before gesturing for another drink from the bartender. Nodding, she shifted in her seat, crossing one leg over the other “About five months, yes. It’s gone very quickly. I still feel pretty fresh off the boat” She let out a low chuckle as Vivienne joked. “Well, we certainly don’t go around calling ourselves gods. I still can’t quite wrap my head around that” Raising her eyebrow, Margaret sat up a little straighter, slightly defensive. “Well, I’m a woman with needs, and it’s easier to find partners willing to help with those needs than you would think. You just need to know where to look. And one night stands hardly take a long time, that’s why they’re called one night stands.” It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be in a relationship that lasted longer than 24 hours, it was just that she knew in the business she was in, it wasn’t a good idea.

“I am with you on that one, let’s hope it will also remain the oddest thing I really don’t need anyone trying to outplay this.” she said with a deep sigh, rubbing her temples. “I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff in Miami but that was always good weird- this was just disturbing.” Viv hummed in agreement at Margaret’s comment about the cocktails, taking another sip. “You know me Marg, I don’t have time to worry about insignificant things such as a love life. I have agreed to let someone take me out but you know what first dates are like, they come and go. What about you? Anyone I should know about?”

“If we don’t tell people about it, they won’t know that that’s where the bar for odd is set” She sighed, taking another long sip, the sweetness of the alcohol calming her mood slightly. “If I’m being honest with you, it’s all been weird for me. America is weird.” She shook her head, trying to stop herself from going on a rant about how more than anything she just wanted to be back in her home turf, where she knew what was going on, and could do whatever she wanted. “It’s just not home is it? I’m still trying to get used to the money here” She smiled and let out a low chuckle “Plus, they’re always good for free drinks and food-not that you need it to be free” She raised her glass jokingly before running a hand through her hair “I have a couple on rotation. I’m still trying to get to grips with American dating culture. They all still pretend they don’t fuck on the first date.”

“You may be right there, I am pretty sure that all narrows down to the same thing.” Vivienne said with a roll of her eyes. Once they were sat at the bar, she decided to go ahead and open a tab. After all, she felt like they would be here a while to forget tonight’s disaster. “Probably few drinks and home, however don’t feel pressured to follow my example.” Viv commented, taking a sip of her drink. “I wouldn’t want to keep you from a delightful evening.”

Margaret nodded and ran her hands through her hair as they settled at the bar “Well, that was by far the oddest day I’ve had since getting here.” She took a long and thankful sip of her cocktail once it was handed to her “Now, I’m usually more of a beer girl, but this is damn good” She leant back on the stool to look at the woman next to her, she had known her for years, but purely in a business way. “You seeing anyone, Viv?” She asked in innocent curiosity.

Margaret furrowed her brow, she was sure there was probably a hidden meaning to this, but that didn’t bother her as she threw the package in the bin.

Her step slowed down for a second as she gae Margaret a chance to catch up with her. Vivienne was used to being fast-paced and givng out orders, even in moments she shouldn’t. “I’m sure there ws much more than drugs involved, that cannot happen without natural stupidity” she scoffed. “Cocktails do truly sound amazing right now, good choice.”

Rolling her eyes, Margaret let out a low chuckled “You say natural stupidity, but I just hear ‘Americans’” They entered the bar with no hassle, thankfully as Margaret was always worried about how hard they would look at her New Jersey driver’s licence. They reached the counter and Margaret ordered two drinks, nudging Vivienne when it was time to pay. “So, what’s the plan for tonight? Few drinks and home or few drinks and take someone home?”

With a small firm nod Vivienne started walking, motioning for Margaret to follow her with a quick “Let’s go.” all she needed was to get out of this place for tonight. “Antenora sounds grand.” she spoke over he shoulder as she stepped outside, taking in a deep breath of fresh ar. “And of couse, my treat.”

Not used to following behind people, Margaret had to do a quick step to keep up with Vivienne. This new dynamic was still taking some getting used to, Vivienne was her boss now-at 21 Red that is. She took a long deep breath as she got outside “Now, everyone may be on drugs back home but the fun drugs where they don’t shit on tables. She began walking towards the bar “Since you’re buying, I’m getting cocktails”

Vivienne ran a hand through her hair, still shuddering at the memory. “I swear Marg, the people around here are a special kind of stupid.” she shook her head. “Good, because I really need some drinks right now as well so how about we get out of here for the night and go find a bar? I can’t look at this place any longer without losing my last nerve.”

Margaret shook her head, still in disbelief at what had happened. “The sooner you get me off the casino floor, the better, Viv” She straightened up and tried to repress a shudder “Now I’ve seen a lot of disgusting things in my time, but that one takes the cake.” She nodded “Antenora? You’re buying”
