hell yeah! — writing past midnight when the house is finally quiet, spiral notebooks with bent corners, pens that smear when your hand sweats, library tables by the windows, coffee gone cold because you forgot to drink it, rain tapping against glass while you type, underlined sentences that feel like confessions, secondhand paperbacks with notes in the margins, sitting on the basement floor with your back against the wall, late-night drives with no destination, songs that feel like secrets, reading something that makes your chest ache in a good way
oh. — being interrupted mid-thought, people reading over your shoulder, teachers who say “show don’t tell” like it’s easy, small-town rumors, getting asked why you’re so quiet, blank pages when your head is too loud, being compared to your sister, forced optimism, public praise, people who skim instead of actually reading, the feeling that you’re running out of time
