Just 45 minutes southwest of Barcelona is a magical sparkling wine region filled with historic wineries, modern hotels and exquisite Spanish cuisine. Scenes from Sant Sadurni d' Anoia, the small town in the Penedes region of Spain that is the heart of the country's sparkling wine called cava.The area is soaked in history, as winemaking dates back to the 1550s. The sparkling cava era began in the 1870s after the phylloxera bug that wiped out Bordeaux attacked local vineyards.
