Love and loyalty are both important in a relationship. If your partner expects you to be loyal and assumes your love for them is based on your loyalty to them but they do not love you they just love your loyalty, then it’s not a healthy relationship. A healthy relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, and love. If your partner doesn’t love you for who you are, then it’s not a healthy relationship.
Loyalty without love in a relationship can stem from duty, obligation or fear. However, loyalty for other motives does not sit well with some people. It may seem like enough reason to stay together, but it’s not. If one partner feels used later on, they were not being honest with themselves before entering into this relationship.
