there's a lot of misconceptions about mech pilot sex.

I had seen Mephala in her other form numerous times.
She preferred it in combat situations, as it made her faster, more agile. She also tended to use it when talking to her “children.”

From the waist up, she was a grey-blue skinned woman, not as busty as the sculptures I had seen of her (or seen her at all) but enough of a handful to make me drool a little. Her face, though, wasn't quite arachnid but not quite mortal, either; multiple red eyes decorated her face, glowing behind loose strands of black hair, and a mortal mouth was replaced with curved fangs and one of those mouthpieces Mephala referred to as chelicerae.
Mephala rested her hands behind her head as she watched me quietly, curling and uncurling her legs impatiently. Needy.
Had she been anyone else, she would’ve been a monster. But because this was Mephala, she was a god.
“So,” I said, because it seemed like the right way to begin. There was a lot to take in here. A sane person would probably begin with a kiss, but I wasn't sure how to go about that with her mouth the way it was.
That, and I was curious how the rest of her felt.
She relaxed a little against the webbing, staring at me with her eight pupiless red eyes. Sultry, but a little intimidating.
“So?” she purred. Her voice echoed in my head—a projection, not a use of vocal cords.
“I’m gonna be honest,” I began.
“Shocking,” Mephala teased. “A first for you.”
I laughed and began to undress to join her on the makeshift web-bedding. “Well,” I said, making sure she was looking at me when I spoke. “I have no idea where to start.”

i made a great response to this but then i realized your complete and utter rudeness is not worth it at all. i had a genuine question and there was no need to respond like that. and no, my “earthbender” comparison wasn’t serious.
You know why I was harsh? Because you coached your question in the exact same terms every single conspiracy theorist uses to deny ancient Egyptians their agency when it comes to their stone working. Your reply had the exact same tone of many, many people who tried to play gotcha with me in 119k+ notes, and I’m just not here for that. There is a need to respond like that, actually, because conspiracists will take a mile if you give them an inch on their barely disguised racist beliefs that the Egyptians couldn’t have built their monuments themselves. You either shut it down immediately or you give them ammo. If you got caught in the crossfire of that, that’s regrettable but there is a reason for it.
And why am I making that “dumb comment”? Because I’m an Egyptologist. I have studied this, reviewed the evidence, read all the theories. And as I stated, we do have proof. We do have evidence that metal tools and harder stones can, in fact, cut stone. The same tools can, in fact, create a level surface on a quarried block because the Egyptians, like many contemporary civilisations, knew how to use things like measures and plumb lines.
There is, again, nothing lost or too-advanced about it. It’s technology that is actually still in use today in various fields and quarries together with more modern techniques. If you look through the recent reblogs you’ll find one that attaches many different videos showing exactly what I’m talking about.
And to reiterate, if you’re genuinely interested you can find all of this info in Mark Lehner’s The Complete Pyramids, which is relatively easily accessed online. Barring that, you can look at his website or any of the freely accessible articles by the same and also read up on this. It’s no skin off my nose if you don’t want to take my word for it, but that is why I added sources.
A good time to remind people about the concept of Jury Nullification. Other terms you may hear in place of jury nullification are conscientious acquittal, juror veto, or jury pardon. At its essence, it is acquitting someone of a crime because you believe defining what they did as a crime is immoral. They did it but the law itself is wrong. I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.
This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.
They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.
