that feel when i need a female mexican fc in her 30s-40s, but i cannot find one creye
Jami jumped back. Always steady on the dirt and moss, the water was nearly enough to make her lose her balance. Keeping just enough attention on Mari's face to ensure that she didn't mean her harm, Jami stared in wonder at where her tail had disappeared. She had never seen anything like it. Dragging her attention back, Jami placed fingertips to her own throat. “Non." Her hand flitted to her mouth before she placed both hands on her chest. “Jami.” It was all she could offer for an explanation.
“Mari.” She mirrored the latter of Jami’s gestures, keeping her gaze with raise brows and nodding. Communicating would be a challenge, but Mariela was creative. She’d figure something out. Smiling, she lifted her tail out of the water again, allowing for a better look at fins and scales. Pointing to herself, and then her tail, Mari made gills out of her hands, mimicking the exact way they worked on fish. Then, she pointed to the human half of herself, and then at Jami. Not the best method of saying she was a mermaid, but she hoped some of it would translate that way.
Santánico serving looks.
Keeping her focus on the woman, Jami shook her head, blonde curls dancing about her wincing face. “Umm.” The tone had been kind, but she had no understanding of the words. She pressed fingers to her lips. “Non...” She tapped them lightly for emphasis and let her hand fall away. Her words had burned away lifetimes ago, had gone up with the smoke and had been devoured by the feral beauty of the distant, starving stars. Shaking off her nerves, she stepped closer, considering Mari's very blue gaze.
When Mari thought Jami stood close enough, her tail broke the surface of the water, resulting in a loud splash. As friendly and curious as she was, she wasn’t naive. Anyone could be dangerous on the Isle. A tilt of the head and a blink later, she gathered that the vampire couldn’t reply, for one reason or another. “Um...” Pink lips pursed while dark brows furrowed. “Did you lose your voice?” She asked slowly, thinking that perhaps Jami could read lips - if not, then maybe the gentle taps Mari placed at her own throat would be enough for her to understand...
Splashes drew Jami's attention away from the familiar stars. Wide eyed, she glanced around the consuming blackness before chiding herself silently. Noises like that wouldn't have startled her in the forest. Wouldn't have even startled her when her blood had been hot. At the voice though, Jami stepped back. Only the sea around her knees kept her from fleeing. It was a woman, and again Jami chided herself. Once she had been brave. “Ah...” Proteus had taught her the word for greetings. “H-hello?"
“Hi!” Clear blues watched the vampire with a mild curiosity (and equally mild guilt). Her time on the Isle had led her to meet many different species of the supernatural world, and as such, the enthusiasm with which she once approached others had tempered itself. Still, she should have known better than to suddenly approach someone who was alone at night. “How are you?” She looked up, smiling at the same stars Jami had been admiring. “They’re really pretty. Other nights, they’re much clearer to see.”
sorry i just found out a thing about the 100 and i am livid.
With one last glance back, Jami leaped the few remaining steps and landed softly on the pebbled beach. Proteus was just out of sight; she could hear him wrestling with the dogs. His backyard opened up to the ocean, though from down here she couldn't see his house. But the ocean... Jami had never seen it when she was human, and after her death the world had been only forest. Until now. She walked forward, water lapping around her knees, and let her head fall back to look up at the stars.
Her daily time-limit on land now up, Mari’s human legs came together to form her tail. Scales shimmered faintly under moonlight while fins created a soft splash, interrupting the stillness of the moment as she moved further away from the shore. Floating on her back, the mermaid’s eyes focused on the inky black sky, and played connect the dots with the stars - like she used to do with her siblings when they were all much, much younger. She ducked beneath the water, allowing the sea’s embrace to envelop her fully, and rose to surface again, brushing dark hair back and away from her pale face.
The sight of another woman did not surprise her; plenty of townsfolk visited the beach at night. Golden hair, however, initially led her to believe it was Chiara, out for another nightly swim. When she got closer, Mariela learned the woman was not the siren. She was someone else entirely. “Oh. Hello!”
just waiting for the nails on my right hand to dry so i can reply to the thing
“It’s not that I’m spoiled, It’s just that I’m a pretty pretty princess.” .
James stared down at the sea glass, smiling. "Oh, those are really lovely ideas for gifts. They're going to turn out really great as necklaces and bracelets." He said as he was curious about her hobbies. "Usually I just write poems for my friends as a gift."
“Ah, a poet. That sounds nice. Have you written anything recently?” Mariela wasn’t too keen on poetry herself, but she appreciated the art, and the work that went into the craft. “I bet your friends really love your stuff.”
i always cry ;;^;;
James felt relieved that she didn't ask him what was wrong, though she felt a little awful for lying to her. Especially when she seemed so kind to him. "Just clearing my mind, taking a view of the scenery here." He replied, shrugging his shoulders. "So, what brings you out here?" He asked her curiously, concerned for her to be out here at night.
“I live in the area.” Mariela nodded, aware that most people seemed to worry about her hanging around the beach and the town at late hours. She was always fine, though. As long as she was near the water, and she wasn’t nearing the end of her 12-hour limit for being on land, she’d be fine. “And I’m collecting sea glass. See? I’m going to make necklaces and bracelets and stuff.” She showed off her loot with pride.
James lifted his head when he heard someone speak up to him. Having a surprised look on his face by the question she enlisted upon her. "Oh, me? I'm fine, really I am." He tried to ensure her with a small smile. Though it didn't really hide the gloom on his face as he stared over at the girl standing before him. He didn't want to trouble her with his problems and concerns.
Blue eyes stared at the young man in front of her. Worry and confusion were etched onto every line of his face, and Mari wanted to tell him so. She learned, however, that these kinds of things needed to be approached with tact, especially when it came to strangers. “Okay.. so, what brings you to the beach today? Seems a little late, if you’re not from around here.” She was certain he wasn’t, in any case.
After the few busy Christmas days, James decided to spend a couple of days at the Beach town after spending time with his mother during the Holidays. It was their first Christmas together, but it all seemed strange for him. He loved his mother dearly, but the thought of her being alive after all of this time made him question everything. Over thinking things, he wanted to take his mind off of it. He began to stepped onto the beaches to take a quiet stroll among the sands.
As far as Mariela was concerned, the holidays were a success. She had her brother, she had Trevor ( who seemed to hang in-between feeling okay, and ...not so much, most days...), and she had friends like Mabel and Blair. This year, the presents didn’t matter so much. Just the people she loved. She’d gone to the beach with them in mind. Chiara mentioned having found beautiful bits of sea glass along a stretch of sand by the pier. Maybe she’d be lucky enough to find as many as she needed to make more gifts. The mermaid nearly filled her pockets when she saw a young man ahead who appeared a little gloomy. “Are you okay?”
