The brave little toaster review 

Part four of the brave little toaster review beware spoilers

After they leave the group wanders though the forest some more and it starts to rain so blanket makes a tent with his body and as they start to sleep toaster pats blanket’s head to comfort him. 

Now this is where we see toaster grow and change. Lamp asks what is going on there. Toaster is confused and asks what do you mean. Lamp says that you weren’t nice to him before so why are you being nice now( I noticed that lamp says this in a way that is full of toxic masculinity as if kindness is weakness. This is both funny and interesting as the lamp is in no way a classic male jock type character and is instead kind of dramatic and full of anxiety. Toaster says he’s been thinking and thinks he should be nicer to him and that helping blanket makes him feel a warmth inside him like a fresh loaf of breads or that blanket is like a fresh loaf of bread. 

This confuses lamp so toaster says it is like a glow and lamp says that he thinks he gets it. Lamp then tells toaster about the time his bulb burned out, he thought that it was all over for him and his warranty was up, he thought it was the end but then the master changed his bulb and how that kindnesses made him feel. 

In the night the storm gets worse and blanket gets blown into the trees. They search for him but the battery loses power so inspired by toaster and the master he uses him self as a lightning rod to recharge the battery. (For a moment I really did think he died cause they don’t show us lamp or them finding blanket until the morning, well done way to keep the tension.) 

Kirby the vacuum also goes though a character arc when they all fall when they try to cross a canyon river and water fall( the water fall is so beautifully animated, not as good as the Balto sequel but still gorgeous.)

He jumps in after them and floats by inflating his bag. He is all shy and tries to say he just fell in so they don’t know how much he cares. They don’t believe him.( Ha ha )

He then gets stuck in mud quick sand an no one let’s go. The radio puts on one last song as he gets sucked in and that is when they get picked up by the part shop owner in his monster truck ( No seriously that’s what he drives look)

Was he just off roading out there and thinks he found some trash 🗑

His dog already had his seat belt on and he comments on it and calls him a good boy

Good boy, car safety is important.

Part three of the brave little toaster review beware spoilers

Eventually they strap a car battery to wheeled desk chair cause Kirby’s cord gets unplugged when they try to leave and I think they need it too to survive but obviously the details are not mentioned and that is fine I don’t need all the lore of how they are alive. However they do try other things like using a skate board, a mattress and here is something that bothered me the fridge. It’s not alive why?

(You just said that you didn’t need all the lore explained to you) I know but it bothers me cause later we see a fridge run away from a parts store( That happens later after they fall into mud quick sand) but back to the story.

This is where the adventure beings and they sing a song, that’s right this is a musical (Should I have expected that probably)  

It’s pretty good and It is about how their going on an adventure. They are going to the city by the way they don’t exactly know how to find the master but they searched a phone book later (What’s a phone book you may ask gen z it’s a book that used to hold all the names and phone numbers of people in your city and there addresses too) ( that was not sarcastic that was meant to genuinely be informative) 

The wander though the woods and when it becomes night and they rest blanket try’s to cuddle up to them but nobody wants to and toaster says he not the master find somewhere else to sleep. 

(Radio wants his personal space)

Toaster has a scary nightmare to show all of his fears and has him fall into a bathtub (if you know why this is so dark, then you know)

 After that they meet some animals at a pond. Frogs make funny faces in reflective surfaces of the toaster.

Mice try and steal blanket( toaster saves him) the fish and the frogs have a musical number about trying to eat a worm( This whole time they use the same music from the last songs just nature themed, lots of woodwinds and xylophones.) Also an incredibly sad thing happens between toaster and a flower that mistakes it’s reflection in toaster for another flower.

This is odd and feels out of place. It feels like the kind of scene that gets cut from a movie, like it was just an idea someone had while story boarding the film out, however it stayed in for some reason.

Part two of the brave little toaster review beware spoilers

Lamp and blanket come downstairs and the lamp asks what are we going to do today and the vacuum says what we do every day ( which is not a animaniacs reference because this movie came out long before that) chores. Most of them don’t want to, so toaster decides to try and make them work by making it a game but they don’t go for it. So the toaster asks the radio for some help and he plays this song (which is now my favourite song ever but that’s just me)

Tuttie fruity on Rudy then they start cleaning the house. Now something odd I noticed because it’s not cleaning day they do this every day and the house is very dirty for them doing this every day. 

Then the blanket pauses and says car(now I didn’t hear a car but maybe there was car sounds) they make a appliance ladder to the attic and the blanket watches out of a  boarded up attic window. (This is our first clue that the cabin is abandoned) Toaster asks from below is it the master? The blanket has a delusional episode where the master comes back and calls him blankie but the car vooms away leaving every one sad especially blanket who gets the master’s photo and starts crying quietly at first but then just starts absolutely whaling. (I don’t know how they did the crying but it is so loud and just unnatural, I was confused and impressed) That is when everyone including toaster is very mean to blanket and tells them to stop crying. 

Guess what happens next; it’s another car 🚗 this time it is a relator who puts up a for sale sign. 

They all fight over the photo and break the frame and the air conditioner starts laughing at them. (The was he talks is very interesting, he talks with in universe slang calling them dim bulbs and says they barely have any watts between them. No one else talks like this only him) 

He says that it’s be years, he moved you have to move on it’s sad and pathetic(or at lest that’s the gist of it) That makes them all mad and toaster says your just jealous cause your stuck in the wall and the master never played with you. This makes him furious and he says in a totally convincing way(wink)😉that he loves being stuck in a wall. He also says it’s not his fault that he was to short to reach the dials. Then I shit you not he dies, he explodes. 

This is not lingered on(I feel like if they did linger on it it would be sad but regardless it is dark and abrupt) but toaster does feel bad about it and didn’t think he would take it so bad.  

Kinda feels like they gloss over the fact that he’s dead and like was he even a necessary character? Cause the fact that the cabin was being sold is what spurs toaster to convince the others to go and look for the master. 

(Ha ha he’s on a soap box to give his speech)

The others decide to go but Kirby the vacuum doesn’t want to go but they convince him that they need him.

You will die with out me (Not a direct quote but that basically it)

brave little toaster I watched it now to talk about it

(This post got too long I am going to break it up into parts)

Reviews are odd for they are basically just someone’s opinion.

That is in its self an opinion of just some one but let’s not get all introspective and philosophical just yet because boy howdy 🤠 are there layers to this 80’s children’s movie about sentient appliances and you will need the brain space to process it.(I keep writing and I was does this even count as a review but what ever)This will contain spoilers for this early don bluth classic ( Note I have been informed that don bluth didn’t personally work on this just his animation studio but I am going to keep saying that it is a don bluth movie because it was made in his studio just like kfc chicken 🍗 comes from colonel Sanders so it’s his despite the fact some changes happened and he didn’t cook it personally. This is just my opinion)

If you want to watch the movie yourself without a review by some rando on the internet don’t read past this photo. ( Also you can find it on Disney plus, despite not being made by Disney. It was just bought by them.)

Now some of you probably know don bluth’s work (As I did use his name in the notes) but for those that don’t his work is known for two things beautiful animation and dark traumatic stories, this one of his earliest movies definitely has both.

It starts with this gorgeous pan shot around this house where we see all the appliances inert and a photo of a kid who the appliances refer to as the master. The radio which is my favourite character do to the fact he talks like a old timey radio announcer (Now I know that this movie takes place in the 80’s but he talks like a 30’s / 40’s radio dj) and is the funniest one, starts talking as if it is a broadcast about how some chimpanzees have kidnapped a politician. This annoys the lamp, so they start fighting and and the lamp chase’s him around the room. The radio knocks the lamp to the floor after his snooze button gets hit then starts dancing on the electric blanket whose nose is a dial and that reminds me of piglet.

This conflict between the characters is funny but all the characters have a surprisingly high level of conflict with each other even the toaster which although is a peacemaker is in no way the conflict defuser and mom of the group I thought it would be. Now here in the toaster we find a complex character who fails, grows, and learns. This may seem like an obvious thing for a main protagonists to do but most movies protagonists tend to grow from outside influences, like in the lion king or Star Wars a new hope.

For example with simba when nala comes try’s to get him to come back then he meets raifke and talks to his cloud dad mufasa or all the people who help Luke like Yoda and obi-wan. The toaster doesn’t have a mentor and must look and think within by themselves. This growth is not seen until much later in the movie.

At the same time the air conditioner wakes up coughs up a snow flake and that brings us to the vacuum called Kirby. Now I did not know until I searched it but Kirby is a brand of vacuum made in America. Kirby vacuums up the snow flake. He is a parody of the comedian Rodney danger field which if you don’t know who he is, welcome to the club but he was big at the time. He is grumpy and very serious about work.

Once we pan over to our star the toaster, who wakes up by popping up but is then disappointed that their is no bread in them, which is a nice touch.

The first brave little toaster movie is on Disney plus

I have never seen the first brave little toaster movie as I have only seen the second one

I watched it on vhs (god damn I am old)as a kid and I only recently learned that it is a Don bluth movie. He was the head animator for the American tale, secret of NIMH and land before time movies and basically all the dark and scary kid films of peoples childhoods the only one that was to scary for little me was fern gully because of the spooky smoke monster.

I plan on watching the first one soon. I will post how it went, so beware of spoilers for a kids movie that came out in the 80’s

Shadow banning is it real?

For those who don’t know shadow banning is a concept that : a form of social media content moderation where a platform secretly restricts a user's content visibility without informing them. The user can still post and see their own content, but others cannot, resulting in a sudden drop in engagement (likes, views). Synonyms include stealth banning, ghost banning, and comment ghosting.

When you hear about shadow banning you will find that suspicious that tumblr would do that as it seems to violate your user agreement but it does do part of this if you violate the user guidelines.

That part is not what you post that will be seen that will only happen if you are really banned, but your ability to comment and message will be taken away. Now if you are like me you didn’t read any of the user guidelines but thought that it would be pretty obvious what not to do, basically don’t be a jerk. So how did I violate tumblr’s user agreement; I wanted to make a fan club for the prime video show Kevin. Now I never ment to be annoying I but I did ask quite a few people if they wanted to join. Since I was asking a lot of people if they wanted to join I asked them all in the same way. Hindsight being 20/20 that does make it spamming but did tumblr tell me that no, no they did not. There is the part of shadow banning that is real, technically my posts could keep on going but I couldn’t comment or message which does mean that my visibility was changed and no one told me, no email no messages in tumblr nothing.

It will come as a surprise to no one that the help did not help and customers service took over two weeks to email me back and fix the issue by which time I had made a whole new account with my Apple ID

Am I mad that I got punished no. Man punishment is an odd concept for a social media site to do, I mean I get not being able to use the product if you use it in a way that breaks the agreement you have with the company you made the agreement with even if you don’t read the agreement and do make assumptions based on how you think the agreement is about, will I be reading other user agreements in the future; no their so long and have to cover so much legal stuff I am not doing that but to make a it only run less well in a sort of gray gradient way is odd.

I am mad that they didn’t tell me that they were limiting my access and didn’t tell me why.

Also sorry if I bothered any one by asking if you wanted to join my fan club. I understand that it can be annoying if people ask you things on the internet but I wanted to make a community for this show I really liked.

And it is important to know that this is a place where people will ask you for things and you can say no and that is not bad or rude and people should respect you not wanting that thing that is how advertising should be.

Yay I can comment again

so after I made a community about the prime video show Kevin. That’s the new one with the cat and his owners break up and he decides to leave and stays at this weird pet rescue. I really liked it. Doing that made my messages stop working and also I couldn’t make comments any more which made me so sad and angry cause I love commenting and seeing people like my comments. It gives me dopeameme. So by being able to use my Apple ID to make a new account. I was unseenbarbarianinsight but now I will be using this account I hope nothing goes wrong again.
