Today I want to show you my plans for what countries/cultures I am exploring in my historical gameplay, as well as the ones I want to include when the sims team adds more worlds. Obviously the list is skewed towards American/English history. I am (just in case it wasn't GLAIRINGLY obvious) a white American so, like most people, I stared out studying my own contry and ancestors. To me, part of the fun of the decades challenge is expanding my area of studying in order to figure out how people in different areas survived at the same time. Each time I'm making a new lot or family I have to resurch things I wouldn't otherwise think to resurch. I encourage others who are just starting to either use my list or, at least, make your own. Having a rough idea of the area your sims are living in helps to establish the cultural boundaries you're working within.
Willow Creek (Deep South USA)
Magnolia Promenade (New South Wales, Australia)
San Myshuno (New England, USA)
Forgotten Hollow (Romania)
Brindleton Bay (Central Eastern, USA)
Del Sol Valley (West Coast, USA)
StrangerVille (Northern Territory, Australia)
Sulani (Caribbean Islands)
Evergreen Harbor (Russia)
Henford-on-Bagley (England)
Moonwood Mill (Switzerland)
Chestnut Ridge (Southwestern USA)
Tomarang (The Indian Subcontinent)
Ciudad Enamorada (Colombia)
Nordhaven (The Netherlands)
(When the sims team adds new worlds)
ZIMBABWE!!! (I really want to explore south African cultures, and Zimbabwe is the one I know the most about but I just couldn't find a word with the right scenery. Yall are right, we need a south/west African inspired world!)
Mexico. (I was so torn between Colombia and Mexico for Ciudad Enamorada but I ended up going with Colombia because otherwise I wouldn't have a single world in south America and that just won't do!)
Portugal. (Given that Portugal is the only one of the big colonial powers that I don't have, of course I need to add it! I also can't have any area they took over until I have them so I can include that part of the regions history.)
Panama. (People really underestimate central America, the region has been a cultural and political hotbed since as far back as we can track. I want to explore that!)
Argentina. (I love a Argentina but, like I said before, I won't have any areas that have been Portuguese territories until I have Portugal.)
Brazil (Same reason as Argentina but its lower on the list because I know less about it. It'll take me more time to get familiar with its history and culture.)
Vietnam (I need more Asian/South Asian rep and Vietnam has such beautiful culture and the political and social drama I look for when picking regions for the decades challenge so, while I don't know much about the country beyond a rough understanding of "traditional" dress and art/architecture and a very surface level overview of the history, I'm interested in learning.)
Mongolia (In case it wasn't clear, I want every contry that has had a major impact on world history.)
New Zealand (honestly, for a little island chain of the coast of Australia New Zealand has had a pretty big impact on world, or at least western, history. Plus its impact has been extraordinarily unique compared to other countries impact on world history so I can't tell those parts of the story without New Zealand.)
Indonesia (I don't have a good reason for not putting Indonesia higher on the list except that all the other items were to important to bump. If the next world we get is another island based one I will make it Indonesia.)
