Ostara
My new favorite holiday ☺️
Celebrating spring, symbolizing growth and new beginnings. The time when you finally see life coming back to the earth. Who couldn’t love it!
I made a little graphic that has some of the symbols and correspondences of Ostara that I respond to. It’s does not contain everything that I’ve seen out there do some research and find out what you respond to!
I’m personally going to be working on decorating my alter all month and I’m going to be planning some activities and a little ritual. It’s going to be a nice season.
Magic isn't only valuable if it's old. Magic isn't only valuable if it's passed down over generations. The weird hyperfixation on old magic passed in an unbroken line for centuries has led to a lot of problems for modern witches.
Yes, magic itself is ancient. Yes, a lot of it has been passed down since before written history. Yes there is a rich global history of both high and low magic that spans basically every civilization to have ever existed. But that isn't the only good magic!
So what if modern magic was invented in the 50s, or during the Victorian era, or during the Enlightenment, or yesterday afternoon? Does it work?
If I found out tomorrow that my mother made up everything she had ever taught me, or realized that something I do was picked up on my own without noticing it, does that change anything?
Don't let a fetishization of ancient take away from the modern. If it works, it works, and that's valuable magic.
witchy bitches of tumblr what’s the crystal and flower/herb you feel most connected to?
For me it’s citrine and eucalyptus
I found a nice spot for my upgraded alter 🙌🏻
Some light beach reading
My mantle is coming along! Now I just need candlesticks and photos for my frames
All the goodies I collected from thrift stores in the past month 🤩
The start of my alter/sacred space
I will be moving soon to a smaller apartment and won’t have as much space for a magical space, so I went with a small little table that I can set up and take down as needed. I need to get some organization for the rest of my supplies though.
When I return from my travels, I will add my new full moon water, and a spring goddess statue (that I was thinking about buying online and then I found it in a random little spiritual shop I stopped at on my road trip) and I will practice working in the space to see what else it needs.
February New Moon
Doing some new moon learning and planning. I’m working on crafting my own ritual. Here’s some notes on what I’ve learned and what I’m planning
The new moon is a time for new beginnings, being clear on your wants, needs, and goals, and planting the seeds of your intentions.
“The new moon brings the opportunity to clear your mind, focus on your desires, and lay out a plan for how you want to achieve them”

This new moon is in Pisces which is a great time for imagination and creativity
“Pisces rules the hidden, so we can shine a light on something that has been hiding in the shadows, and we can work on it with greater ease.
Pisces rules intuition, so we may trust our instincts better with this new moon. We can focus on connecting with our intuition better, and learning what is our inner guide”

The ritual:
I am away from home so I won’t be able to do the elaborate ritual I would like to.
Before the ritual, I will do some journaling to discover what I want and what I need so I can clearly write my intentions. I’ll be writing my intentions out in a list of clear statements so I can read them aloud. I’ll also choose an affirmation. Here I will also make a vision board collage (digitally) of my intentions.
I will then take a cleansing shower to wash away what isn’t working in my life. (I would prefer to do a bath with bath salts and candles lit and so on, but I don’t have all that stuff with me, so a simple shower will have to do.)
If I am in a place where I am able, I will light a candle (if I can’t light a candle, I’ll focus or anchor my manifestations to a crystal instead) and then read my manifestations aloud. Then I’ll focus on the flame and my breathing and sit quietly for a bit while I wait for the candle to burn completely. Then I will say a prayer to the universe and say my affirmation three times.
If I was home:
I would sage my sacred space, tidy and organize the space, and get set up for the ritual, adding some things to my alter to symbolize the moon and making sure I have everything I need. Then I would take a “fancy” bath, adding something like flowers, essential oils, and/or bath salts to the water. During the bath I would mediate and think on what is and isn’t working in my life. Then I would head back to my sacred space and ground & center myself. I would create a ritual candle, anointing it with oils and herbs. Then I would journal for a bit, writing out my intentions. Then I would light my “fancy” candle and visualize my intentions.
I went shell collecting today
The whole world is magic. Creation, existence, change. All of it. My witchcraft is just paying attention, valuing, and being in tune with it all. It’s my own way of being in love with the world.
Learning about grounding techniques and meditating while the sun goes down 🧘🏼♀️
Little beach treasures
Whenever I get back into witchcraft I start seeing crows everywhere, which seems to be a sign of personal transformation for me
Also, the tarot card I pulled today was about new beginnings… that really is the theme for the day.
I really do feel like this is a new beginning for me and it’s exciting. I’m ready to become the best version of myself and to transform my life into one that I love.
