Some interesting facts from the GQux Beginner Staff Talk:

• The main cast members were kept alive at the end of the show to keep the door open for a possibility of them returning in a sequel in the future.

• Tsurumaki was against killing Kycilia off, so she could have possibly survived, but Enokido explained she had to die because the show can’t wrap up if the main villain didn’t die.

• The plot developments in the final three episodes came from the initial scripts and was already set in stone, but the arc was originally going to be four episodes and Episode 9 "The Rose of Sharon" was missing but became something Enokido aimed for.

• Enokido said that because Shuji and Machu’s kiss happened in the kira - kira, it wasn’t real and is supposed to be the ultimate platonic kissing.

• The original script only had Shuji thank Machu and kiss her lightly like he was greeting a friend, but producer Sugitani insisted on adding more and changing the scene instead to Machu running up to hug and kiss Shuji.

• Shuji’s VA Shimba Tsuchiya further adds that his character saying “I like you” to Machu wasn’t romantic but something broader that could only come from Shuji.

• Tsurumaki defined the Zeknova and Axis Shock as two completely different events in their setting. He thought supernatural stuff happening in Gundam was not allowed but he figured it could now be acceptable since the Axis Shock’s debut.

• Enokido had decided on the Zeknova from the moment the offer of the anime came to him with Tsurumaki stating this was the first time to make a sci - fi work where Char pilots a Gundam at the beginning and one more time at the end.

• Enokido described Gundam like F91 and Char’s Counterattack to be fast paced action and claimed they wanted to do a movie style pacing on TV, but Tomino’s commercials were much faster.

• There was a thought that GQux The Beginning could win the Japanese Academy Prize, but the film industry people they asked told them it was debatable whether their compilation film fits the Academy’s definition of a film.

Drawing this made me wanna rewatch the show, and gosh, I forgot how good this show is. And I still love this ship a lot.

I struggled so much with this drawing, and in the end I just had to give up trying to improve it because otherwise I wouldn't get any sleep, so I'm not entirely happy with how Andrew looks, but it's okay because I still made a thing and that's what matters.
