John Purcell Christmas Card 2015
I had the honour of illustrating the John Purcell Christmas Card this year and here it is! It comes in the form of an folded A3 card, with a die-cut rocket that the recipient assembles! It was so great to see this project come to life and I hope those of you that receive one enjoy it as much as I do.
Merry Christmas!

The Ride Journal 10 is out and I'm in it! If you're a cycling fanatic you can order a copy at theridejournal.com
This post from Creative Bloq just caught my eye on Facebook.Â
A notebook with loose pages held in place by magnetics! The video to promote their Kickstarter campaign demonstrates a number of benefits the book has including easy scanning and the ability to print on and reorder pages.
My original thought was that this gimmick would make the process a little clinical but I later came to the conclusion that it would in fact only help shorten the time you spend on the boring stuff allowing more time to be creative!
Overall, an interesting project and I’m interested to see what sort of reaction they get!
If you’re curious you can back their Kickstarter here
Had a lot of fun creating the artwork for this project. Just adding the final touches to this festive commission, I will reveal all very soon..!
Just an average day at the office...
Just like Doctor Who, my website also goes through a regeneration sometimes..Â

Post Uni Update
I feel like I’ve been neglecting my blog recently so here I am to fill you in on what I’ve been up to over the past months..
So after the whirlwind of degree shows in London at the end of June I then went on to travel to Poland to take part in the Ligatura pitching in Poznan, you can read more about that here!Â
July 14th 2015 was the day when UWE Illustration graduated..Â
An unusually pricey occasion to round off the uni experience but what’s an extra £70 plus guest tickets when you’re already in the unavoidable amount of student debt anyway. Fuck you Cameron. Expenses moan aside.. It turned out to be a lovely day at Bristol Cathedral spent with friends and family, finished off with a meal at Jamie’s Italian. Â
As for the rest of the summer (or the start of my life post-uni) I visited family in Devon and Lancashire, both very beautiful places.
Late August.. ahh I’m no longer going back to uni in September.. What now?
This is where boomsatsuma, an unusual yet memorable name for a company, come in. When on a search for jobs within the creative industries I got in contact with boomsatsuma, a non profit organisation that claim to be fuelling the next creative generation, perfect! After the interview / initiation I was lucky to be taken on as their new resident artist. There are a number of things I do here but the main jobs include creating graphic and illustrative outputs for web and print as well as assisting on the boomsatsuma teaching programme where I help on a GCSE photography course. It’s been great to get a job in the creative industries so soon after graduating that goes so well alongside my ongoing endeavours as a freelance illustrator.
Speaking of the illustration side of things.. Keep your eyes peeled for an editorial piece I’ve done in the next edition of The Ride Journal 10 (snippet of it can be seen here) and other projects that I will keep you updated with v. soon! (hint: it’s christmas related!)
That’s all for now, until next time.

Having fun creating artwork for a lantern parade that will be taking place late October!
A crop of an editorial illustration I recently did for the next issue of The Ride Journal X
Work in progress..
In other news, my comic ‘Cat Calling’ addressing street harassment on women is in the most recent issue of The Bristol Cable. Out now!
Recently I got the opportunity to travel to Poland to take part in the Ligatura Festival pitchings. It was a lovely weekend away in the city of PoznaÅ„ but in no way was it an escape from the heatwave England were having at the time. In fact, I think the heat followed us there!Â
It was a brief 2 nights stay but I met the loveliest bunch of people and fellow illustrators whilst I was there, ones I’ll definitely stay in touch with.Â
Congratulations to Sorina from Romania who won the pitching with her book idea on Aging! And also a well done to Alexander from Belguim for being Runner up!Â
You can see Sorina’s work here and Alex’s here
London it's been a pleasure! On the way back to Bristol for a short pit stop before flying out to Poland tomorrow morning for the Ligatura festival where I'll be pitching my 21st Century Phobias book!
And just like that the show at The Old Truman Brewery is down and we're swiftly onto the next one! Catch UWE Illustration at the D&AD New Blood exhibition at Spitalfields Market 1st-2nd of July, 10:30am - 7:30pm!
A smashing evening at last nights Private View at the Old Truman Brewery, London. Brilliant time had by all!Â
Today has been one hell of a day!Â
Successfully packed all of the Bristol show into this questionable looking van ready to drive to London tomorrow morning. We were doubtful at first but after some amazing real life Tetris skills it somehow managed to all fit in! We’ll see how amazing it was tomorrow morning when we unpack at the Old Truman Brewery, that’ll be the real moment of truth.. fingers crossed!Â
Tomorrow is install day followed by the Private View on Thursday 6-10pm. If you’re in London make sure you check out the Free Range shows. I will be part of the UWE illustration show in F Block T2, The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL.
Private View: Thursday 25th June | 6 – 10pm Open to the Public: Friday 26th - Sunday 28th June | 10am - 7pm Monday 29th June | 10am – 4pm
