(Long Post)
The whole situation was foolish for all parties involved, and truly could have been better discussed in private rather than blown up in public.
To be as thorough as I can:
About three years ago, Gabe and FruitMasseuse were on call, and decided to watch the banned episode "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" from the show Community.
The episode in question was banned due to character wearing "blackface"(*).
As a joke, Fruitmasseuse suggested/dared for Gabe to have it as a profile picture on Twitter.
FruitMasseuse is Afro-Latinx, and so they had essentially given him the pass.
The profile picture was set, and then eventually removed within that night or so. Only issue was: people saw the change, and were quick to pointing it out.
Long story short, Gabe was fired as a result. FruitLegs made a Twitlonger against Gabe about the profile picture, as well as other miscellaneous grievances, and has since not been seen in the fandom grounds. However, he does stream from time to time on his twitch.
(*) When I say "blackface", this is going to require quite a bit of context.
In the banned episode, the main cast decides to have a D&D session, all of which appear to be new to roleplaying. As each character introduced themselves, one character, Chang, decides to commit to his role, and dress as his character, which was a Drow. Drows have dark skin, and so Chang literally painted his skin black. None of the characters acknowledge this at first, and continue with their session until Pierce shows up, making note of Chang's appearance at least twice. It's not too long after Pierce barging into the session that Chang's Drow character dies, and so he is gone for the rest of the episode. He was only focused on once with Pierce referring him as "Al Jolson", a comedian who wore blackface to his shows in the 20s-30s.
This is all to say, Gabe made a mistake, and was ill informed at the time as to how inappropriate his profile picture was. FruitMasseuse did receive criticism their way as well.
Take it as you will, even with the context, it was just incredibly idiotic.
