The concept of Holly’s age not being retconned and 7 year old Holly being taken by the demogorgon and then we don’t see her at all again until the finale when she’s rescued and upside down is still scary and we don’t spend a pointless amount of time in Henry’s mind and there’s real suspense and mystery and fear and her absence is palpable through the people she left behind and the REAL season one vibes are back…

seeing those interviews about how the duffer brothers don’t actually know that much about dnd and they messed with the rules timeline anyways i feel so smug i always was like “this doesn’t sound right but i don’t know as much about first edition as i do 5e so maybe it’s right and they based their whole show around it they would know” but they wouldn’t know would they. they don’t even know anything about their show let alone dnd. i could pull up the time stamped texts of me saying will is more of a warlock than a sorcerer when vol 2 came out
